(Based on the Bruva Alfabusa short "The Fate of the Lamenters")
In an alternate version of Remnant, the Immortal Emperor Ozpin stands in his watchtower of Beacon, staring at his training warriors adorned in armor and futuristic mechanical weaponry. By his side was his servant and close friend, Glynda Goodwitch. The lady stayed close by her master, occasionally looking up to him as she knew something was on his mind. "Glynda, I must ask something." Ozpin suddenly said, making Glynda jump a bit. "Y-yes my master?"
His eyes looked down to the armored soldiers training with rifles and melee weapons. His Knights, of which multiple legions of them existed. "As the Knights, for whatever lurid reason, have had something like twenty six different foundings..."
Glynda's mind immediately raced to the foundings, each having their own surge of powerful warriors with different strengths and weaknesses. "Wooh so many..."
Ozpin continued. "I demand a question answered pertaining to the twenty-first founding." To this Glynda became perplexed by her masters sudden interest on "that" founding. "Ah...yes. The reputed Cursed Founding!" Glynda suddenly jumped as a wave of green energy escaped from Ozpin as he gave a harsh glare to the window. "WHY?" He asked to no one in particular. "Why does such patent superstition run so rampant in the kingdoms that an entire founding of Knights is literally labeled "cursed" in its official description as if a cabal of fucking wizards put an evil spell on it." Ozpin ranted about the naivety of humans. While he did love them, he cannot deny that they're beyond stupid.
Glynda gulped as she chimed in about his last part. "I-is that really so unlikely Master?" She asked but was never answered as Ozpin continued his rant. "Take this Arc Knights legion for one. How could they possibly stand out from their brethren to the point of being officially labeled "Cursed" when the likes of say, the Fucking Flesh Gators, remain undescribed as such." Glynda finally spoke up. "O-oh no the Arc Knights are absolutely cursed." Ozpin shook his head as he did a double take. "What the fuck? HOW?"
Glynda's heart dropped when he asked that. How the hell was she going to put this lightly when it's "this" legion they're talking about. Here goes nothing. "Aaaah....well...." Glynda smacked her lips as sweat rolled down her head, taking a deep breath to explain.
Example 1: The Betrayal
Standing before an incoming horde of Grimm, Arc Knights, adorned in white and gold armor, stood side by side with the royal Schnee Knights. Headed by Captain Weiss Schnee, who gave a glare towards their leader, Jaune Arc. Without warning she waved her hand to her men. "Leave them! They're cursed!" She said as she and her men began to fall back. Jaune looked back at her with wide eyes, raising his hand. "No! Wait! Brothers! Halt PLEASE!" His calls fell on deaf ears as the horde approached them head on.
Example 2: The Worm Incident
A squad of Arc Knights were traversing the desert before suddenly the dunes began to swirl and sink. The soldiers yelling in dizziness and fear as sharp and massive teeth begin to cave in above them.
Example 5: The Distress Call
A squad of Arc Knights, surrounded by a mountain of human-Grimm corpses having zombified by the Nuckelavee plague. They constantly fight off as their brothers are torn apart. The captain, in his stressed and tired voice. "It's been 100 hours since deployment SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP US!" He yelled in desperation over the intercoms.
Example 10: Sacrifice
A captain watched in horror as his men were infected and slowly having their bodies torn apart for the Grimm trying to take over them. With a heavy heart, he puts his fingers to the intercom. "Activate charges give us a quick death!" He closed his eyes as his armor and the armor of his men detonated and killed them all.
Example 22: Failure
Commander Jaune Arc looked over at the ships screens with wide and terrified eyes. "Drive failure?! DRIVE FAILURE!!!!" He yelled out as the engines to their ship erupted into flames, causing the vessel to crash into a ravine.
Example 40: Unintentional Betrayal
During the Helion Conflict, where five legions turned traitor for the Grimm side, the Arc Knights unintentionally took the betraying legions side not knowing the full story. Jaune was talking to his captains over the radio. "We cannot allow outside forces to corrupt Knight mecha-" without warning the door busts down to reveal the infamous Valkyrie Knights, brutal warriors who rarely take prisoner. One of them busts her hammer into his chest to knock him down, making Jaune yell out in pain. Two male warriors walk up and begin to pull on his mechanical arms. "Ah! BROTHERS NOOOHOOHOO!" Jaune yelled before his robotic arms were torn off, thus proceeding to have the Valkyrie Knights beat him to near death with his own arms.
Example 41: The Trial
A mere few days after the Helion Conflict, Jaune stood in front of the Atlas court with his arms still missing as his armor dented. The council angrily glared at them before one of them yelled out his punishment. "You're cursed! Ten year Penitent Crusade or die!!!" He yelled out. Jaune lost all composer and began to openly weep in front of everyone. Not for himself, but for his brothers he foolishly brought into this punishment.
Example 50: Bugs
Hundreds of Arc Knights laid torn apart as a victorious Grimm horde ran to their next target, the leader currently chewing on Jaunes body as he screamed out in pain.
In the dark and depressing void, Jaune sat there weeping. His arms and legs missing, his armor torn apart and broken. To add further insult to injury, someone had painted the word "cursed" on his chest plate. "Emperor....grandfather...we try our best...we save your people! We stand by you! We love you..." Jaune looks down as tears openly poured down his cheeks. "So, please...answer!"
"WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO DESERVE THIS FATE?!"
Glynda finished as she looked down. "That's about it." Ozpin stared at her silently, his gaze unmoving as he processed all of the information just given. "Oh." He said simply. Without warning his eyes began to unleash a torrent of tears that began to flood the room. Glynda looked down before grabbing a mop. "Oh. Fair enough." She said before mopping the tears away.
