Scarface and Little Talon

In the ancient world of North America, some of the most powerful predators made their home here. From massive teeth that tear flesh to powerful horns and clubs that shatter bones, this cruel and unforgiving world held a single phrase that all life ruled by.

Kill or be killed....

For a certain individual, that's all his life was ever about. Resting his tired body under a massive tree, the Tyrannosaurus Rex let out loud exhales from his nose. His upper body held a slightly red tint to his scales, with the soft belly of his holding a light beige. All across his body were scars from previous battles, one of his smaller arms was now reduced to a nub. The most prominent feature is the deep scars that ran across his face down to his snout. The T. Rex soon awoke, letting out a yawn before he rose to his feet. With a quick stretch, he began to make his way across the forest. A river was nearby, one that usually held the healthiest of prey for him.

Moving from the green brush, he spotted his prey. A small herd of Achelousaurus. While many predators would rather not risk fighting the entire herd or the toughest of the herd, the T. Rex found the strongest to be the tastiest. He stepped out of the bush, slamming his tail into the ground and letting out a challenging roar to the herd. Already the herd roared back in shock and fear, hearing legends from other herds about the powerful beast that owned these lands. Scarface was the T. Rex's name. The biggest of the herd stepped forth, letting out a response to Scarface's roar. They both stared at each other, feet constantly moving back and forth and waiting for the other to strike first.

The herd alpha charged first, holding his head down and aiming his two top spikes. Scarface had seen these attacks before, simple but still dangerous if one was foolish to face head on. As soon as the alpha reached him, Scarface leapt to the side, rushing forward and slamming his jaws on the back leg of the alpha. He roared out in pain as Scarface tugged, soon tearing a huge chunk out of his leg. The limping alpha returned back to a defensive position, panting out in pain and fear, knowing he had already lost. Scarface roared out as he was now on the assault, rushing in and dodging the alpha's pitiful strike. He slammed his body into him, knocking the alpha on his side and slamming his jaws on his neck. With a quick pull, the throat was pulled out, leaving Scarface as the winner. He turned and let out a terrifying roar, watching with morbid glee as the herd ran for their lives. They were so easy it was quite funny. He turned to his reward and began his meal, occasionally taking breaks to drink out of the fresh river.

As he continued his meal, he soon found himself not alone. He removed his bloodied face from the corpse and turned around. Expecting a scavenger or another predator, he was surprised to see a baby Bambiraptor. He let out a threatening growl, wanting this little runt to scram. However, it just continued to stare at him, moving its head to the side. Scarface looked around, wondering if its mother was around or possibly dead. After waiting and no sight of the bigger Bambiraptor, he turned to the baby that continued to stare at him. He let out an annoyed huff, tearing off a chunk of the dead Achelousaurus and threw it behind him. The baby walked over and began to tear off tiny chunks to safely swallow. Scarface let out a huff, surprised at how much courage this runt has. He made his way back to his tree, his home. He had hunted during the mid-day, his feeding session lasting the entire afternoon. No matter how big you were, you did not want to be around during nightfall. Scarface soon made it back to his home, scratched at the ground for a bit, before laying on his stomach and falling asleep.

When he awoke, something was off. A tiny warmth was felt on his side, making him slowly open his eye and look in sheer confusion. That same baby was on his side, snuggling into his warmth. Scarface growled loudly before roaring, causing the birds to scramble to the skies and for the baby to jump up in alert. He got up and let out a threatening growl to the runt before walking off.

Turns out that didn't work either. Scarface found himself being followed by the Bambiraptor, eagerly following his every step. He went down a hill, the baby followed. He got a drink from the river, the baby followed. He took to a bush to do his business; the baby found its own bush to do its own business. Hours would pass and this baby still followed him. It caused Scarface to turn around and look down at the infant. He let out his usual, dominating roar. The baby was not afraid, even letting out his tiny roar back at him. This led Scarface to a horrifying realization. This baby had imprinted on him....

He simply turned and began to walk, hoping that something would just snatch up the runt away from him. As usual, the baby kept following him, letting out chirps as if trying to communicate with his "mother." Hours would pass and his stomach would rumble, Scarface licking his teeth as he moved to the river, searching for prey. Much to his displeasure, there were no other dinosaurs located at his feeding grounds this time. He stomped the ground and growled out, his anger evident to the baby. The baby Bambiraptor started to walk down the river, chirping out at Scarface to get him to follow. The T. Rex didn't listen, leaning down and taking up gulps of water to try to quench his hunger for now. What he did not expect was to see the baby come back with a small fish in its mouth, scarfing it down and chirping at him again to follow. Scarface followed this time, where the baby revealed to him a small waterfall, where fish were jumping up to get to the separate stream. Scarface leaned over and snatched up a fish, crunching it down and swallowing. It wasn't as filling, but it would do for now. Scarface looked down at the baby, watching as it captured a fish by itself. He let out an amused snort as he continued his fishing.

As time went on, Scarface was ever so slowly getting used to the runt. When the big prey count was low, he would help show smaller but plentiful sources. Both of them shared the meals Scarface captured, though he would only throw a small portion. It wouldn't take long before they began to hunt together. The baby would often lure big animals away, letting Scarface come up from behind and take them out quickly. Scarface would begin to even like the runt, giving it a name he thought of himself. Little Talon, for those surprisingly dangerous dagger like claws. Little Talon wasn't a pushover though, often using Scarface's own hunting strategies and taking out slightly bigger prey than himself. He would often join Scarface in his own battles, jumping on the big dinosaur's backs and jabbing at their faces. While he wouldn't admit this, he enjoyed the help Little Talon provided.

However, things were becoming increasingly dangerous for Little Talon. The seasons were changing, meaning some bigger predators would be on the move for areas of different temperature. Little Talon often found himself staying close to Scarface when he saw other T. Rex's, Megalosaurus, and Giganotosaurus make their way through their territory. Recently, a pack of Allosaurus had made their here as well. Usually, these big predators would just take a quick visit to the river and leave, but these Allosaurus were spending too long here. Scarface assumed they made a new territory here, picking off the prey herds that were nearby.

One day, early in the morning, Scarface and Little Talon awoke from their slumber. Making their way to the river, Scarface eagerly licked his teeth as he saw a herd of Achelousaurus making a stop at the river. Using their usually hunting strategy, Scarface taunted the head of the herd into a battle. As the herd alpha charged, Little Talon jumped on his back and began to attack his face, distracting the beast and allowing Scarface to easily run in and attack his neck. It was over within a moment, letting the two enjoy another great meal. However, Scarface became suspicious when he saw the herd was smaller than before. While he was the one to disperse them, they began to run off in terror. The confused T. Rex went to investigate, leaving Little Talon to continue eating.

Three hungry sets of eyes fell on the fallen Achelousaurus, soon coming out of the forest and revealing themselves as the Allosaurus pack. The biggest one, growled at Little Talon, ordering him to back off. He was surprised when the Bambiraptor jumped on top of the body, growling out at them, telling them to back off from their meal. The three began to circle around the corpse, one grabbing at the tail and pulling it, knocking Little Talon off. The pack began to tear apart the body, devouring what was their meal, the meal he and Scarface worked for. In anger, Little Talon screeched out and slammed his teeth on one of their heels. The Allosaurus kicked him off, turning around and roared at him. Little Talon looked up as the Allosaurus prepared to devour him, but a louder roar came right behind.

Scarface rushed up and slammed into the Allosaurus, knocking her onto the ground. The other two turned and roared at the T. Rex, both backing up and preparing for the bloody fight. Scarface looked back at Little Talon, growling out to tell him to hide. The three charged, Scarface's massive body slamming into the other two, pushing against each other as he slammed his jaws into one of their necks. The third Allosaurus got up and rushed over, slamming her jaws on Scarface's leg and causing him to let go. The second Allosaurus pushed on Scarface, knocking him onto the ground but was kicked in the snout before he could attack. The T. Rex's tail smacked into the females mouth and knocked her back. However, the alpha of the pack managed to jump on top of him, biting at his neck. Scarface tensed his body as he used both legs to push him off. All three backed off of him, overwhelmed by how much of a fight hes putting. Scarface slowly got up, panting a bit as he looked from side to side.

This time, two Allosaurus charged at him from the sides. Scarface was more experienced however, backing up and dodging before chomping at the tail of one of them. With a quick tug, he ripped the tip of the tail off, making the Allosaurus roar in pain. The female went to bite his neck, but Scarface used his bigger frame to smack her to the side. He placed his foot on her body, slamming his jaws on her throat before ripping it out, leaving her to die. The other two Allosaurus saw her sacrifice as their opportunity, the Alpha facing Scarface head on as the other snuck behind. Despite being slightly smaller, he pushed against Scarface's body, allowing enough time as the second Allosaurus bit his leg, tightening his grip on it and making Scarface roar out in pain. The Alpha Allosaurus pushed him down, both now getting on top and biting at his head. Scarface managed to scare one back, but the Alpha clamped around his neck as the other chomped on his head.

This was it; the powerful Scarface had finally been bested. He never thought to see this day, especially not after becoming a father to that baby. As he began to lose air, Scarface's thoughts fell to Little Talon. That little runt managed to surprise him with how far he's come. All he hopes now is that he remains safe....

A tiny screech filled his ears as the Alpha Allosaurus pulled off him, roaring out in pain. Little Talon had climbed on top of his back and gouged out his eye with his claws. Scarface rolled on the ground, knocking the other Allosaurus down with him and quickly got back up. He slammed the smaller dinosaur into the ground, quickly sinking his neck into his teeth and, with a quick tug, snapped his neck. He quickly turned to see Little Talon get knocked off, the Alpha Allosaurus pinning him down with his foot and lunging down. Scarface managed to get there just in time, pushing him off and into a tree. He slammed his jaws around his neck, quickly throwing the Allosaurus into the ground. He did not let up, once again getting on top and grabbing his neck with his teeth. Scarface slammed him down over and over, slamming a foot on his chest and tugging. A loud squelch filled the air as Scarface ripped out his throat, roaring into the sky for the bloody victory.

Little Talon ran up to him, chirping out at his father. Scarface looked down and growled lowly, before walking to the river. Little Talon followed, both taking a drink from the fresh water. Scarface looked back at the brutal aftermath of the fight, remembering how Little Talon risked his life to save him. He leaned his head down and gently nuzzled him on the head, his loud stomps echoing across the forest as he returned to the tree he slept under. It was only morning, but the actions today already wore him out. He clawed at the ground, laying down and watching as Little Talon ran up and nuzzled up. Scarface let out an amused snort, before closing his eyes and entering the void of sleep.
