Dayas POV

Today I learned that I will forever go without a soulmate. Forever alone is basically what that means. But because society is the way it is, the concern for teens without a soulmate committing suicide from the knowledge of forever alone is high. So instead they just have support groups in communities. I have to join it, a requirement also because of society.

I walk up to a building full of support groups, any you can think of they probably have. I walk to room 17. I pass by the other rooms periodically checking the numbers. 3, 8, 12, 15, 17. I walk into the room that I familiarize myself with, posters on the wall of Everything will be ok, a shelf of books of sad stories of romance, a table of pale yellow lemonade that looks to be store-bought and a box of 12 chocolate chip cookies that were definitely store-bought, a group of 8 chairs in the formation of a circle. In 3 of the chairs sat 2 boys and a girl, the girl with bright purple and blue short hair looked over at me.

"Name?" She asked me in a curt tone of voice.

"Daya. Yours?" If she was going to be that way there was no way in hell that I was not going to treat her the same.

"Mila," she pointed to the boy with blonde hair in a quiff, "Kurt." She gestured to the other boy with a brown fringe, "Rowen." After all introductions were made I sat down at a seat and pulled out my phone for music. I put in my headphones and started playing music. I then switch over to my book on my phone and started reading. I was so invested in my own world I didn't even notice everyone else was starting to show up. I pulled out one earbud so that I could somewhat know what was going on.

"Ok everyone. No one wants to be here no one wants to pay attention we all know. But we have a new person that we need to introduce ourselves to. Then we can get back into our usual routines. Please try to be welcoming." A girl with short blonde hair with streaks of different colors in it. "Jaylanna is my name."

"Mika." I heard a boy with dark hair all over the place.

"Gabe." He said. He looked almost exactly like Jaylanna but without the coloring.

"Klara." The girl right next to me said; I looked over to her and she gave me a small smile and a wave. I just gave the slightest smile ever back.

"I know everyone else." I spoke up not wanting to have another run in with Mila.

"That sounds good! So we have some things we usually do by ourselves in a little groups. Just find something to do." Jaylanna said in an unusually peppy voice that is probably fake.

I looked over at the girl sitting next to me and was debating whether or not to start a conversation or to just stay in my seat. She then started to scoot her chair closer to me.

"Hey," she said in the most unamused voice ever. I just waved in response. So this is how this place works. There is Milas group for kids that have given up on acting like they are fine and are angry all the time. There are the twins, Gabe and Jaylanna who just act like the world is all sunshine and rainbows. After that there is Mika and I who would rather be anywhere but here. I suggest you join our group just because of how youve been acting but hey just your choice. I nodded a sign of thanks.

"I think I will join your group since this feels like the worst possible place to be right now and I dont want to be here." I quietly told her. She then stood up and started to walk over to a set of stairs that had no place, there was a boy on them; I assume that he is Mika. He saw coming over, he jumped up and ran towards us and pulled Klara into a tight hug. He then let go and looked over to me, I went to wave but instead he also pulled me into a hug and I just hugged back.

"Mika dont do awkward things to our new group member!" Klara scolded him. He let go of me and started to apologize.

"It is alright, I promise!" I told him after he wouldnt shut up. Klara glared at him before getting into a deep conversation with him. I zoned out and started taping my fingers on my thumb in a pattern of 4 before I am brought back into the conversation.

"Daya you hear me?" I heard Mika ask me in a concerned voice and Klara give me a question look of Are you alright?.

"I am sorry I zoned out. What was the question?" I responded robotically almost in a monotone voice I give my teachers when I zone out.

"He asked if you were alright you zoned out and looked sad." Klara said to me still with that questioning look.

"Yeah I am." I tell them giving a smile. They brushed it off and went back into their conversation. As I listened just a little bit into the conversation I found out they were talking about some books they were reading.

"You reading anything cool Daya?" Klara asked me trying to include me in the conversation. I start thinking about what I have been reading. I decide to pick the one I like the most.

"I have been reading Fahrenheit 451 lately and it is actually pretty good." I tell them joining in the conversation. I then look at the time and realize that my mom was here to pick me up. "I love to stay here more and chat but I need to go because my mom is here."

"How would you know that someone is here with them texting you?" Mika asked because of my abrupt leaving and I didnt look at my phone.

"All about timing and patterns my good man. My mom always runs 10 minutes late and she said she would be here 10 minutes ago. So as the pattern follows she should be here. Yeah there are times where she doesnt follow her pattern but it almost always works. Anyway see you guys next time." I picked up my stuff, waved them goodbye and left. I walked to the car and got in.
