and yet, by morning...

Falling.
It really was a long way down.
A sort of sick thrill rolled through Bee's chest, followed by an odd sort of fear.
They thought they could see concrete now.
They closed their eyes.
. . .
There was a tug; Bee's stomach dropped, as if they had suddenly started falling up.
They opened their eyes.
Bee was, indeed, rising instead of falling. The sidewalk that had been just under a yard away before was now rapidly shrinking before their eyes. A hand was wrapped around their wrist.
"You're such an idiot," a voice said, in a kind but lightly disappointed way.
"I know." They weren't sure why, but Bee found themself crying.
"___'s going to be pissed, you know." It seemed the voice was joking.
"I know." Bee refused to look at her face.
There was silence for a moment.
"Why?" she asked, and the question was genuinely curious.
"I don't know." Bee laughed. "It's just...so easy to forget you. To forget everyone. If I think hard enough, everything that matters simply...disappears. And then there's just me, my thoughts, and..."
She was quiet.
"And a rope. Or a pair of scissors. Or a kitchen knife." They sighed. "But then one of you reminds me that someone actually fucking cares. It can get annoying sometimes, actually." Bee smiled.
"Well, looks like you'll just have to put up with it," another voice said, deeper. PK.
"Yeah. For now. But what happens when..."
. . .
"I'm moving away...be here for September..."
"Oh, sorry, ____! I've already made plans with someone else..."
"I'll have to transfer to a new school..."
. . .
PK smiled, a bit triumphant. "Maybe. But do you really think you can get rid of me that easily?"
"Yes," Bee replied bluntly. "But I...choose not to."
"Exactly."
He hugged them. A simple gesture, really, but one that brought tears to their eyes.
"I'm sorry..."
. . .
"This lonely void is always keeping their eyes on an unreachable dream."
"Inside their tumultous mind, they stir the chaos around and around."
"One more time! One more time!"
"'I'll keep on rolling today,' is what they say, what they say while weaving purpose into their words."
"'Are you ready now?'"
"'No, not yet! Since I still can't see what lies ahead.'"
"'Just hold your breath for now-'"
"'One more time, one more time... I'll keep on rolling today.'"
. . .
