Badgerclaw nervously marked the boarder. For years he had had a crush on Silverrain, and now, here he was on a night patrol with her. Alone. His confidence as the deputy had vanished the minute he was around her. He had always wanted to tell her how he felt, but he didn't know how. Then, suddenly he glanced at the eastern boarder where memories from being an apprentice flooded back to him. He immediately knew what to do. 'Even StarClan won't mess this up!' He thought, all confidence returning.

"Hey Silverrain! Follow me! I want to show you something!" Badgerclaw mewed.

"Umm ok I'm coming." Silverrain responded with confusion filling her voice. 'All will become clear, my love!' He thought passionately as he led her through the brush deeper into DoveClan territory, until he reached a small area of bracken, forged in the shape of a den with a small pool that reflected the stars in the middle. He led Silverrain inside.

"I found this when I was an apprentice. I think it was once an animal den." He said. Silverrain stared in awe at her surroundings.

"Wow. It's beautiful. But why did you take me here?" Silverrain asked, taking a seat near the starry pool near the middle. Badgerclaw took a deep breath. He let it out then spoke.

"Because... Because I... Like you." He responded dreading, yet anticipating her response.

"Like me... As in a friend or...." Silverrain already knew the answer by now. " or... As a mate?" She finished. "Yes of course!! I have been waiting for you to ask! You aren't very subtle! But yes of course I'll be your mate." Silverrain said, intertwining her tail with Badgerclaws.

"You...you will?" He asked still caught in the moment. Time slowed as he looked at her smiling face.

"Yes, you fur ball!" She answered rubbing her head against his "yea of course." Silverrain spoke again. Badgerclaw twined his tail with hers and moved his paw over hers. He bent his head over hers and purred.

"I love you." He whispered.

"I love you too." Silverrain whispered back.
