This Isn't Right
My first and maybe last attempt at writing a creepy pasta. Warning, I've only read about 3 creepy pastas so I'm not sure if this is going to be accurate to what a creepy pasta is. Hope you enjoy. Btw, it's Skyrim themed cause I love Skyrim. I will try with other things too. I doubt it will class as a creepy pasta.
Hello, my name's Mia. Mia Ann Smith. I'm 13 years old. This is my story of a time I played Skyrim. The last time I played Skyrim.
The day started off as normal, my Mom out at work, My Dad at his house and my Brother, Lewis, out with his mates. Having my Playstation 4 in my room, I thought it'd be a good idea to take a break from YouTube on my laptop and play a game instead. Being fond of Skyrim, I decided to play that. I had Skyrim Remastered so I had all DLCS and could get mods, something Lewis and I had already tested.
I turned on the Ps4, greeted by the familiar 'ting' sound and blue light that quickly changed to white. A notification popped up, catching my attention. It said Skyrim was updating. I thought nothing of it, getting that notification a lot.
Once the downloading was completed, the title screen song and the Skyrim logo. My smile of joy widened from the nostalgia. To make it more nostalgic, I turned off every mod, wanting to just play vanilla Skyrim.
Going through the save files, I clicked on my Nord character named 'Mirandak.' It was just a silly name I made up based on Miraak. It seemed clever at the time.
As I mentioned before, Mirandak is a Nord, a female one at that. I gave her longish chocolate hair with deep, brown eyes and rather tanned skin. I loved her since she was my main OC and I had designed every part of her over the years.
The load screen came up, giving me some irrelevant advice as the serene, gorgeous Skyrim music played.
Finally, I saw land before me. However, it wasn't like how I remembered. The sky was fairly grey and the land had a thin coat of fog. Of course, it was probably just the weather. The grey skies and rather dark land was signs it was going to rain, which wasn't exactly abnormal, but the fog was confusing. The only places I knew of that could have fog was tombs, caves, those types things, and Falkreath. I just brushed it off, deciding it's probably just part of the update or regular Skyrim weather that I just didn't remember.
I pressed Start, checking my journal to see what mission I was on. 'The Black Star', the Daedric mission for Azura. Obviously, I was going to do it Azura's away because fuck that random guy.
Opening my map, I fast traveled to Winterhold to make the walk to Azura's shrine quicker.
As soon as I arrived, something seemed off. No one was outside, not even the guards, who are always there. I didn't remember killing them. If I did, their corpses would be there or, at least, replacements. Once again, I brushed it off, deciding I might of shouted them off the cliff when I was bored. Not something I do often, but that had to be the answer.
On my stroll to the shrine, I was suprised to see a draugr. Usually, they are underground. I've never seen one just out in the open without some type of tomb nearby. Remembering this place quite well, I knew there weren't any tombs nearby. Feeling a bit baffled, I killed it using my two ebony daggers. I'm a stealth fighter, my speciality. Hate large wepons and heavy armour.
As all other draugrs (Btw, a draugr is am undead, zombie-like creature. However, unlike zombies, they can't infect people through biting or anything like that. Corpses become draugrs when the dead is disturbed) do, it fell dead at the hands of the expert killer, Mirandak.
Taking another look through Mirandak's eyes (first person), I noticed the area was covered in fog, rather difficult to see through. 1, there was never any fog in wintery areas, like Winterhold, and 2, I've never seen fog that thick in Skyrim. My confusion only grew as I heard coughing. It was a noise I had heard NPCs make, clearing their throat, at random. So, it was a normal sound, except for the fact there are no NPCs around. I left my follower during a mission where I wanted to do stealth cause, from my experience with followers, they ruin stealth.
I knew it couldn't have been the update. Updates for Skyrim never seemed to do anything big like adding new sounds to the player. Sighing, I continued playing, guessing maybe I was over thinking it. This was the same Skyrim I had played for months, maybe even a year. It's not like it's a hacked version cause it wouldn't just start randomly after over a year of playing.
Time Skip
I had finished my mission and decided to just fuck around and wander. Using the Wabbajack of course. The Wabbajack is a staff you get from Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of madness, that, when casted, have a random effect on it's target. My favourite was the blue pile of mist with either a sweet roll or gold (money) with it.
After a long while of adventuring, I arrived at Whiterun, the strange fog still spread across the land. Once again, I noticed the lack of guards. Strange.
Upon entering, I saw a few people, though, not as many as there should be. Checking the time, I saw it was 10: 32. More people should have been outside. The few that were looked paler than usual and... thinner? If looked like some type of mass starvation or depression making them not sleep or eat properly. Heck, how did they get thinner or paler? NPCs can't eat and can't change their appearance.
After a short walk, I noticed the market was empty. It was practically a ghost town. I noticed a note stuck onto a wall. A note that had never been there before. I should know, Mirandak lived in Whiterun. It read;
A notice to all citizens. There have been complications that is to remain confidential. All we can tell you is you must remain indoors as much as possible. This is to keep all of you safe. We had the court wizard, Farengar Secret-Fire, working on a solution but he seems to have gone missing. If you see him, please report it to the guard. Please heed our advice.
Proventus Avenicci
Chills ran down my spine. I checked my journal. All of my quests had disappeared, looking more like real journal than a pause. All that was written was
I've seen them. You haven't, but I have. I'm scared. There is no hope. Leave. If I can't save us, I might be able to save you.
Fear and confusion filled me. I tried pressing a trigger to change to stats or save. It only flicked through the pages, like a book. Unlike a book, there was no consistency. Pages were covered with scruffy words of all different sizes and at random angles, along with patches of a grime I recognised from the times when I'd pick a scab and the blood would stain my clothing. It looked like it had been written by a maniac. The words mostly consisted of
Get out
I'm dying
They're coming for me
We're all going to die
No hope
Exit
I closed the journal, feeling freaked out. I went into third person and looked at Mirandak. Her expression wasn't the neutral, apathetic one the characters would always gave unless there are enemies nearby. It looked anxious, her hair strewn across her face, her eyes red with dark circles, her skin sickly pale and covered with scars, scratches, cuts, bruises, you name it.
I watched her lean forward, covering her mouth as she coughed. Characters can't do that. There was no coughing sound in the game except clearing throats, but only NPCs could do that. Once her coughing fit was over, she glared directly into the camera, staring at me with pleading, desperate eyes.
She wanted me to exit the game. I pressed the home button. Nothing happened. There wasn't even a notification to tell me the button was even clicked. It didn't work, no matter how long I held it or how many times I'd pressed it. I decided to press the actual button to turn off the Playstation. It didn't work. Nothing worked. I couldn't figure out the plugs, so that wasn't an option. I tried pressing the TV power button. Didn't work.
Looking back at the screen, I yelped, startled. Mirandak was leaning on the screen, banging desperately to get my attention. Once she knew she'd got it, she turned the camera to see a herd of draugr approaching. They didn't look right. The skin wasn't decayed, it was torn apart. The eyes didn't glow blue either, just hollow.
Grabbing the controller, I switched to first person, controlling her to sprint besides them, avoiding them. I wasn't sure what to think about them, so I didn't want to kill them. Their health bar was on the top of the screen, but it didn't say draugr under it, it was only '...'.
After I'd got her out the front gates and a few miles away, her stamina had run out. I- we continued going at a slower pace until I decided we were far enough. I stopped controlling her, waiting for her to do something. When she didn't, I switched to third person, her finally doing her own thing. She sat on a rock, panting and rubbing her probably aching legs.
Whimpering, she looked at me again. Pulling out her journal, she faced it to screen, pointing to the part that said 'Leave.' I replied, saying I couldn't. Luckily, she seemed to have heard, seeming even more distressed.
Groaning caught both of our attention. I panned the camera to see more of those weird draugr approaching. Before I could switch to first person, one grabbed her, the rest gathering around her, blocking my view of her. It switched to first person and I got her out if there, killing all of them.
Again, I waited until we were a good distance away before switching to third person. She didn't do anything, just stood there silently. Panning the camera to her front, I watched sorrowfully as tears streamed down her face. She made no sound, leaving the game, and my entire bedroom, completely silent. The silence was painful. Every hair on my body stood on end, expecting her to do something. Anything. Nothing.
Finally, she made movement and a noise. It was a raspy cough and her dropping to her knees, blood leaking from her mouth. The blood wasn't like Skyrim blood. It looked so real, even remaining in a puddle on the floor, staining the withering grass that I had remembered being so vibrant and full of life.
Afterwards, she stared at the camera, having a look of urgency that soon faded to nothing. My blood felt like ice despite how fast my heart pounded. She looked sick. Opening the menu, I moved left for magic, checking active affects. All seemed normal, except one called '???' Scrolling to it, I read the description of it.
-10 health, -10 stamina and -10 magicka. This horrible disease is you're fault. You could have done more. After all, in this game, you're practically the God of Mirandak
This freaked me out. The only time your character's name is mentioned is letters and in one mission when you say it. A wave of guilt came over me. I could have done more. I should have done more.
I was torn from my thoughts when Mirandak began coughing and hacking again. Her health bar came up, her health decreasing slightly with every cough. Once she had finished, her health slowly came back, much slower than it should have. I called out her name. I remember the look she gave me. I swear I felt my heart freeze when she turned. Her eyes were so desperate, her eyes being a waterfall spewing out water.
My heart sank at the pure melancholy in her face. I asked what I should do, shaking. She looked away and shrugged, looking hopeless.
Then, I got a great idea. Going into first person, I directed her back into the city, avoiding more of those... creatures. She was obviously confused but complied.
Once we got in, we went to the shrine of Talos, me hoping that I could cure this odd disease.
Before we could get there, I was forced into third person as she collapsed, her breathing shaky and raspy. Blood seeped from her eyes as she wailed, obviously in absolute agony. She reached out to the camera... to me, eyes filled with devastion. The way those eyes pierced my soul horrified me. I wanted to help so, so badly. I couldn't do anything except watch, my eyes unable to close and my entire body unable to move. Heck, I'm pretty sure my breathing stopped. Her howls of pain eventually died down as she lost health at an agonisingly slow rate. Soon, the bar was empty and the screen became red before going back to normal repeatedly, telling me something I didn't want to happen. She was dead. I was expecting the game to load my last save, whenever that was, but it never happened, just showing me Mirandak's lifeless corpse. I let out a few sobs, wanting this all to be some sick, twisted nightmare I got from reading so many creepy pastas. I never woke cause I was never asleep.
Suddenly, her body twitched and she rose to her feet, hunched and limp. She raised her head, looking straight into my soul. Her skin was almost snow white, and had been torn open in some places. Her eyes were blank white, looking like those draugr things. She inches closer and closer to the camera and whispered in a growl-like voice, "You could have saved me. I told you to exit the game since you joined. But you didn't listen. You've killed me, you've killed them, you've killed everyone."
She lunged at me, and that's when the game shut off, saying it got an error. Though, it did say at the end 'The game died, just like everyone else. It's all your fault.'
Whimpering, I curled up, just listening to music in attempt to block out the sounds. Her screams and what she told me kept echoing. It still is. Those desperate eyes. The hatred. The sorrow. It's all my fault. This guilt's never going to leave. The screams are never going to stop. Those words are never going to go away...
Unless... I end it myself. To all of you reading now, if you notice anything weird in a game that you know shouldn't be there, click out as soon as possible before its too late. You may find something you don't want to. By the time you've read this, I won't be here anymore. It took some work but I managed to pull a chair up to my bedroom and found a rope.
Just know, it's not your fault. Stay safe and heed my warning.
I love you all. Tell my parents I love them.
She's watching. She's grinning. She's happy. I'm making her happy. She's telling me the world will be a better place now. She's an oc inspired by me, why would she lie? She wants me to help the world. That's why it happened. Get ready for a better world people, I'm about to do it. Goodbye everyone, love you guys.
