My Story

Once upon a time, there was this girl. She was a beautiful girl, with hair the color of honey, and eyes as deep as a stormy cloud. Sometimes those eyes sparkled like snowflakes glittering in the light. They always sparkled like that when she talked about something she loved.

For two years, she loved this boy. One she thought she would marry. But in the last few months of their relationship, she realized there were some things about him that did not fit her needs. He didn't communicate well, and she knew that she needed communication with her loved ones. He also did not look to spend time with her, something she craved everyday. She craved his attention, because it made her feel special.

But then... something changed. He said he needed time to figure things out. The girl was sad, but tried to be understanding. The next time she saw him, a month later, she learned that he did not mean that he was ending things with her. But she was still confused.

The day before he explained he was not actually ending things, this girl had a realization about herself.

She, the one everyone believed to be straight, had a crush on another girl. A very good friend of hers, too. She told only her best friend.

She stayed with the boy, because he was the safest option. But she soon realized, she wasn't happy with him. Her good female friend made her happy. So, even though she tried to ignore her feelings and suppress them, she turned to the source that made her happy. She turned to her first female crush.

Two weeks after they admitted to having crushes on each other, the two girls got together. Together, they are usually smiling and laughing. Or flirting. Flirting happens a lot with those two.

The honey haired girl grew further in love with her girlfriend as time went on. She couldn't help but notice how patient her girlfriend was with almost everything. She didn't push anyone into anything, she waited until they were comfortable. She was also very supportive of everything the girl did. The girl grew to trust her girlfriend more and more, until finally, she told her something that she hadn't even told her best friend.

Two weeks after they started dating, the girl finally told her parents. It didn't go as planned, but the secret was out. As expected, her parents weren't happy. They didn't try to discourage her from her decision, but they did place down some ground rules. The one that hurt the most was the one about how the girl's girlfriend could not come over to the house anymore. It ruined a lot of plans they had, and it was very tough on the girl because she hated disappointing her parents.

But even with all the roadblocks, and the fear and the stress, the two are still finding ways to stay together happily. They are making a path for themselves together, and holding the other close.

Even without my parents approval, I found my happiness. I found myself. I found my confidence. I found something I would give my life for. I found love. And I am going to do everything in my power to keep it. Because I'm happy.

I finally know who I am. And she helped me find it.
