Dying Plant

I knelt next to the drooping flower. It was white with yellow petals. I was worried for it, and wanted it to live. The only weird thing about this flower was that it had a face, but it made for a great companion.

"Please, you can't leave me", I whimpered, holding back tears. "I lost him, I can't lose you too. Please don't leave me alone with the darkness.'

The flowers head lifted up a bit. "You know I have to leave. A flower doesn't live forever."

"But you're not just a flower!" I cried. "Sure, you may not have your soul within you as of this moment, but you're still brave, and helpful to those who ask for it."

"Yet I still hurt others", the flower says, drooping even more. Some of the yellow disappears, and turns grey. I grew even more worried, and spoke quickly.

"Everyone hurts others, whether they mean to or not! I know I've hurt others without meaning to. But that doesn't mean you have to die! That doesn't mean you have to leave everything you know behind!"

A bit of color reappears in the floor as it looks at me. "It doesn't?"

"No!" I cry, the tears flowing freely now. "So, please... don't die and leave me all alone. Please. You're like a brother to me and I don't want to lose you like I lost him."
