Virgil lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling. His thoughts, as they had done so often recently, turned to what had happened a few weeks earlier. He'd had a panic attack in an old room in Thomas' mind, and Roman had helped him out of it. He couldn't stop thinking about how his voice had sounded and how Virgil himself had felt, standing so close to him, with his hand on Roman's chest and Roman's hand in his hair. He wished he had said what he had actually been thinking.

Roman was about to pace a hole in his floor. He couldn't get his mind off that day when he had been able to ground Virgil in reality to get him out of his panic attack. He had come to terms with the fact that he had a fire of love in his heart for Virgil, but the royal doubted that his feelings were reciprocated. He wished he could just walk up to him and tell him how he felt, but he wasn't sure if he could handle the rejection he was sure would follow.

---------------------------------

Finally, Virgil thought. I've come up with the perfect plan. He was going to have a panic attack and call for Roman, who'd said he wanted to be there for him, and have him do the grounding technique again, but this time he would say what he was truly seeing and feeling.

Roman took a deep breath: Today was the day. Today he was going to tell Virgil how he really felt about him. He was going to ask him to watch a Disney movie with him and then tell him when it was done. Nothing could go wrong.

--------------------------------

He was curled up in the corner, panic attack under full swing. His thoughts were screaming that his plan wouldn't work, that Roman hated him, that he was stupid and should just give up. He was just yelling for Roman when he heard a knock on his door. Virgil froze.

Roman checked himself in the mirror one last time before walking down the hall to Virgil's room. He was knocking at the door when he heard Virgil scream for him! He burst through the door and saw him a corner, curled up on himself, rocking back and forth: all signs of a panic attack.

He rushed over and knelt at the darker trait's side, saying worriedly "Are you okay? What's wrong?"

Virgil grabbed his hand and pleaded, "Help.... I need to be grounded again."

Roman pulled him to his feet and got them into the same position they had been in before: Virgil's hand on Roman's chest, one of Roman's hands holding it in place, while he breathed steadily, in and out, in and out.

"Name five things you can see, Virgil," the prince said softly, putting his free hand in the other's hair, combing it gently.

Now is the time.

"I can see your hair, as meticulously kept as always." He feels Roman tense at his words. One.

"I can see your shoulders. They are broad and strong." Two.

"I can see my hand on your chest, it looks small and pale against your sash." Roman is breathing faster now. Three.

"I can see your shirt. It's nicely pressed and very white." Four.

"I can see your eyes. They are a soft, warm brown and are full of worry and care." Five.

By this time Roman is flushed and nearly speechless. His thoughts race: "What could he mean by this? Could it be- no, he couldn't possibly..." He manages to whisper, "Now four things you can feel."

Virgil closes his eyes: "I can feel your hand in my hair. It's very calming." The hand starts to move slower. One.

"I can feel your sash, it feels like a fine silk." Two.

"I can feel you breathing. It's reassuring." Three.

"I can feel your heartbeat-" he paused, unsure of how to describe it- "its rhythm makes me feel safe." Four.

He can barely hear the royal say, "Three things you can hear."

He listens carefully for a minute. "I can hear your breathing, it sounds comforting." The breathing intensifies. One.

"I can hear my heart beating. It's very loud." Two.

"I can hear Thomas singing Someday My Prince Will Come." He gives a slight smile. "I don't think it as absurd as I did once." Three.

Roman can no longer speak past the lump in his throat, so Virgil says, "Now two things I can smell."

"I can smell your breath, it smells like toothpaste." Roman's eyes are closed now. One.

"I can smell your cologne - it smells like comfort and home." Two.

Virgil opened his eyes and said, "Now for the thing I can taste." He paused and grinned slightly before saying "You."

Before Roman could respond, or even form a cohesive thought, an arm slid around his neck... and- and Virgil was- kissing him? He didn't even have a chance to reply in kind when Virgil pulled away and said, "Man, you taste good..." Then they were together again, kissing as if there were no tomorrow.

After an indeterminate amount of time, they pulled apart and just looked at each other, smiling shyly. A minute went by before Roman said softly, "You want to watch some Disney?" A grin split Virgil's face. "I would love to."

Hope you liked it!
