The crisp breeze took her by surprise it's been ages since she felt this way. Her freedom came with a price. No one could see her as long as they did not believe. She didn't mind the loneliness. She was tired of the heat that followed her-
Today was different.
  She felt the crisp breeze that chilled her to the bone. She closed her eyes and remembered.

"Mum! It's not even that cold!" Hamish whined as the other two nodded.

"Nonsense! I don't want Jack Frost nipping at yer noses." The queen said bopping each of the lads on their noses.

I crept quietly behind her hoping I could make it out on time before she decided to go all Mama Bear on me.

Just a few more steps, I said to myself. I grabbed the handle and pulled on the door - Creeeeeaaaakkk!

Bloody door!

"And where do ye think yer going lass? There's class today. Much to be learned!"

Melancholy quickly drowned her.

Her mother had been a pain at times much like every mother. But she was right.

Winters came and went. Merida had fallen sick and her fingers darkened.

"Frostbitten!" The servants murmured.

The pain was unbearable- but the pain she saw in the queen's eyes had been worse.

"I love ye, mum. Thank ye for everything...." A tear fell from her mother and Merida went cold.

That was the end of her.
For now....

It's been nearly 400 years since she felt the cold.

"Hey! Jack Frost, winter spirit, are you Merida?" He chuckled.

"Um. Yes?"she studied the boy who was floating in the sky with her. Pale flesh. White hair. Icy blue eyes.

"Can i kindly ask you to step into the sack?" He held out a red velvety sack.

"What?"
