Winter in Puerto Rico

In the mountain, Flickering lights,
Peeping out the open windows.
Inside it's warm, in the winter nights.
Outside, soft cold breeze blows.

The rooster sings kee-kee-ree-kee.
The fog covers the greenest hill.
The woman turns on the water mill
To ground the sun dried roasted coffee.

Children run outside to the batey.
Three Wise Men left some toys to play.
The air carries the coffee's aroma.
And the farmer works allá en la loma.

Promesa de Reyes, it's a great party.
Guitars and cuatros sounding the strings.
The women serve food and rum hearty.
The Christmas music memory brings.

The Island's winter, don't needs white snow.
Colorful, noisy, bright and festive.
It's green and red and golden and yellow.
The most warming welcome you will receive.

You're invited, don't need a coat.
Eat some tembleque and drink coquito.
This is the winter in Puerto Rico!
