Lucky Charms
Lucky Charms
While I strutted down the hill,
Spring breeze blowing the wind mill,
birds perched chirping merry tunes,
blooming vines clothing the runes,
nature caught me out with daze
tripped, fell, floor hitting my face.
Wobbled up, churning grass off
a mouthful weed spitted in a cough
pop-eyed I gaped, as on the ground
beneath the green grass rug I found
a four-leaved clover, a one so rare
I knew this time luck'll treat me fair.
As on my way, along the road
fortune kissed me twice, gilded it glowed
gold coins, one, two, three, four
I stumbled upon the dusty floor.
Once in town, lilting my pace,
I made on time to avoid with grace
to walk below a ladder
it's bad luck, it said my father.
Already at home, my shoes I took outside
(walk in dirty shoes is something to abide)
when a ladybug landed on my hand
bright red and black wings fanned
I couldn't believed my fate!
inside a white votive lit on a plate
a rabbit foot hung on the wall
next to a horseshoe found in the stall.
I opened the window shutter
warm breeze, curtains to flutter
I laid my back to read a book
when the sheers flapped in the nook
where my mom's old mirror hung
silk drapes like claws clung
pulling off the bronzed framed glass
"Oh my Lord!", I screamed, 'Alas!'
To the floor it fell and shattered
I bawled knowing my luck was tattered
for seven years from today
even if I find a pin in a mound of hay.
