Green

Green...

Green grass... Weed and clovers.

Green the firefly that hovers

Over the greenish water fountain.

Green the dark shade in the mountain.

Green the guavas and bananas.

Green the leaves and the guanabanas.

Green the distance in the hills.

Green the rust in the water mills.

Just a little hint of yellow,

Of ripe plantains in the meadow.

Maybe some red flowers show

In the flamboyant tree below.

Green the lizard on the wall

And the avocados that fall

On the green carpeted floor.

Green the windows and the door

In the house beneath the trees.

Green the the lemons and the peas.

Green the coconuts and the papayas.

Green and red the tree of 'magas'.

Green reflects in the shallow creek.

The sun shines above the peak,

Turning a lighter shade of green.

The wind blows... It's so serene.

All the greens that can be seen

Out my window. This is a blessing.

I love green, I am confessing.

There is blue high in the sky.

White the clouds passing by.

Soil, coffee and wood is brown.

Yet it is green the one I crown.

***I was staring out the window. So many shades of green to see.
