A/N: I hate Near so much, and I also hated writing every word of this. But alas, it must've been done. xCorlissx merry hanukkah

I threw down the puzzle piece in frustration, looking at the back of the white haired boy in the room.
"Near, can you help me?" I groan in annoyance. His chair spins around and Near walks over to the couch behind him. He sits next me, taking the puzzle piece I threw to the middle of the table. He places it in the pile of pieces I had next to the small part of the puzzle I had solved.
"Work on the edges first, I thought I told you this. It's easier to finish it that way." He twists a finger around his hair.
"Oh yeah, that bit of information. You told me while I was trying to figure out a Rubix cube, I didn't pay attention." I complain, nudging the boy. A ghost of a smile appears on Near, as he shakes his head.
"Pay attention next time I tell you anything, it's usually important. I don't spout nonsense." Near said monotonously.
"Yes sir Mr. Monotone." I saluted, laying down on the couch. I lean my head and back against his shoulder as he methodically snaps the pieces of the puzzle together with ease. I close my eyes and bury my face in my hand, enjoying his silent company. A guy in his late 20's burst into the room, holding a stack of papers.
"Near, we got a case." He groans immaturely.
"Last time I checked, I did not hire you to be lazy and not work on cases. I'm already looking into the case. Now give me the files and leave." Near kept clicking the pieces together, not bothering to look up at the man in the room.
"Ok you little twi-"
"Watch it." I interrupted the man mid-speech, removing my hand from my face and shooting him a glare. The man in the suit ducked out of the room, placing the files on the table. The room was silent for a bit, before I leaned forward to get the files the man left on the table.
"Its about Kira, isn't it." Near's gaze narrows.
"Yup. All of this is useless to us, we already know it." I flip through the papers, rolling my eyes at the information the "detectives" thought we didn't know. Near gets up room his position on the couch and sits back down on his chair, returning to his work. I continue his progress on the puzzle, clicking the pieces into place. A silence washes over the room. I look at the back of the snow haired boy, still completing the puzzle. Nothing has changed since the first time I met this boy. He still has the same monotone voice, stoic personality, and the same signature white hair.
~Flashback~
"Ok kids, recess time!" The teacher announces, triggering a stampede of screaming kids running toward the door and out of the room. I was one of them, until I was tripped and fell on my face. I picked myself up and walked toward the swings. Being one of the last kids out, there were only a few swings left. I sit down near the end of the swings, next to a small boy. The boy, being tagged by a classmate, gets up from the swing and runs toward said classmate. I take his seat on the swings. A kid on the swing to my right swings quietly, keeping to himself.
"What's your name?" I ask the boy.
"Nate. What's yours?"
"I'm (Y/n). How old are you?" I reply.
"Why are you asking so many questions?" His eyes narrow.
"Because I want to be friends with you!" I cheer. The white haired boy freezes, looking back at me.
"No you don't." He says, getting up from the swing and walking away.
~End Flashback~
The boy, who was determined to push me away is the same one I'm with right now. What a twist in fate. I stop clicking my puzzle pieces together and walk behind the teen. I wrap my hands around his neck and put my head on his shoulder, watching the screen over his shoulder. The only sound that could be heard in the room was the clicks of Near's keyboard.
