Klance

"Aha!" Pidge exclaimed, as the device in front of her lit up a pale pink. "It works!"

"What is it this time, and how will it help in the fight against the Galra?" Shiro asks, staring over Pidge's shoulder.

"Well, it won't help in saving the universe, this is just a quick little thing I made for fun! Basically it injects a temporary serum into your body, which will cause you to, well, act like a dork if your true love is present."

"So like Lance?" Allura cuts in.

Lance jumps up from his seat and glares at the princess. "Not funny..."

Allura giggles, and goes back to admiring the machine before her. One by one the group get the injection from the small machine, and nobody has any results.

"You should get Keith in here to try this out too," Lance points out as the small needle pokes into his arm. As if on cue Keith emerges from a doorway, staring into the huddled group with cold, questioning eyes. Lance turns around, spotting him, and  mumbles something inaudible.

Hunk nudges Lance, "what was that?"

Lance ignores his friend and stands up, walking over to Keith and draping an arm around him. "Are you in outer space, 'cause you're out of this world!" Lance giggles, unable to controls his laughter and insane looking smile.

"Did you guys poison Lance?" Keith asks calmly, pulling the other boys arm off his shoulder. His dark eyes scan the incredulous look on the faces of his team. They look from Keith to Lance, and then back to Keith.

Shiro speaks up first. "He's kidding right? Lance has got to be kidding!"

"No jokes space dad!" Lance cries, now standing close to Keith without physical contact. "I can confirm that we're in outer space so Keithy must be outta this world!"

Pidge snickers as Keith walks over to the group, Lance trailing behind him with a giant smile plastered on his face. "What kind of poison was it?"

"It's not poison Keith! I extracted a sample of the liquid from the previous planet we went to, the one that made us all woozy ya know. Then Hunk helped me transform the liquid into a serum, with temporary effects. The test subject would only act off his or her game if," Pidge faulters  for a moment, as if coming to the realization of what was going on, "if their true love is present."

Keith's eyes widen as he stares back at Lance, who had a hopeful look on his face. "So you're telling me this clown.. loves me? H-How long does the serum last?"

"It only lasts about ten minutes, when the time is up the subject will temporarily lose consciousness, and regain it as themselves." Pidge responds, a serious look on her face, hiding a smile.

"I'm taking Lance to my room, I'll meet you guys back here when he's sane and we've talked," Keith mutters, grabbing Lance's wrist and dragging him towards the door.

"I'm going to Keith's bedroom... with Keith!" Lance exclaims looking back at his friends. "Wish me luck guys," he grins.

"It's not like that..." Keith sighs, but he knew the other boy wouldn't listen. The two walk along empty corridors until they arrive at Keith's room. It opens and Keith shoves Lance inside, "sit," he commands pointing to the bed. Lance does as he's told, and sits on Keith's bed, swinging his legs and looking around aimlessly.

"So when do we get to the fun part?" Lance asks, his expression implying what didn't come through in his voice.

Keith rolls his eyes, annoyed and a bit afraid, "you sit tight while I.. while I think of what we're gonna do."

Lance smiles and happily obliges, eyes focused mainly on Keith as he paces around the room, waiting for ten minutes to pass.

After an excruciating period of time Lance's head droops onto his shoulder, before proceeding to fall onto Keith's bed completely. Keith exhales, as if he'd been holding his breath the whole time he was pacing to Lance's stare, his dumb comments, his gorgeous eyes locked onto his moving figure. Keith shakes his head and leans against the wall, they were teammates. Lance was a jokester, this whole thing could've been a prank. Keith whirls around to face Lance, who groans, rubbing his eyes. "Nngh where am I?" He asks, before noticing Keith against the wall. "Hey get out of my room!"

Keith pushes away from the wall, "this is my room Lance."

"Then," Lance pauses, "why am I in your room. How'd I get here?"

Kieth bites his lip. Why was this hurting him. It wasn't like he cared, did he? "Well," he hesitated, "you tried out Pidge's device, and your true love turned out to be in the room. I lead you back here so you wouldn't be a disturbance to everyone else."

"So who was it? Allura right," Lance grubs, pulling a false charming look.

"Stop pretending Lance," Keith sighs as Lance sits up. "Everyone knows it's me."

Lance hangs his head, letting Keith's words echo through the room, through his mind. He could feel his heart breaking, Keith's tone was nothing close to affection or even acceptance. Lance opens his mouth, trying to form words that wouldn't come. Keith walks over to his bed, sitting on the edge of it. "Keith.."

"Why do you love me though?" Keith asks, his face, his voice, his eyes, all void of emotion.

Lance draws in a shaky breath. "You look stunning. You're strong, with no need to rely on anyone else. You're fearless, and able to pilot the red lion, the most temperamental one. You get the praise I crave without having to brag like I do, and rightfully so." Lance's face flushes red, and he avoids eye contact.

"Listen, Lance. You do brag, I won't deny that. It's part of your charm though. Anybody would be lucky to have you. But, that person isn't me. At least not right now." Keith whispers, almost inaudibly.

"I'm going to bed," Lance says, standing up quickly. He doesn't turn back, doesn't give Keith the satisfaction of seeing the tears welling in his eyes.

"Goodnight." Keith calls to Lance's retreating back before the door shuts and he is alone.

Keith lays down on his bed, in the indent Lance made, his mind racing. He doesn't move. The ceiling morphs in front of his eyes, from the decreasing amount of sleep. How long had he been staring, lost in his own world of thoughts. Too long, the time on his phone read 12:43am. What time had Lance come in? It'd been after dinner, which was at eight. How long had it taken Pidge to finish the thing, the ten minutes after that, how long had their interaction been? The events of the day flashed and merged before Keith's eyes as he fell into a troubled sleep.

Flashing red lightning awoke Lance from his restless night. Coran's voice floods the room through the speaker in the corner of the room. "Attention paladins! There has been a Galra attack in our area, we must get Voltron in the battlefield if we stand a chance!" Lance sits up, throwing his pillow across the room in a fit of rage, a guttural scream ripping from his throat as tears form in his eyes again. He wouldn't cry, he had to be strong for his team. For Keith, and most importantly himself. He shouldn't beat himself up about it, his mental health was more important than any feelings he had for a boy who wouldn't open up to him. "Now!" Coran yells, pulling Lance out of his thoughts, and causing him to fall on the floor. He quickly pulls on his suit, and dashes to the hanger which held his blue lion. Climbing inside, he and the beast burst from the castl, where the black, green, and red lion already soar through the sky. Behind Lance the yellow lion flies in, and the group begins their travel through space.

"I heard somebody screaming this morning, just after the alarm went off, is everyone ok?" Shiro asks, as a planet comes into view. Lance bites his lip, keeping his eyes ahead of him. Beside him the camera monitor appears, with Keith's concerned face.

"Lance?" He asks.

"Leave me alone Keith, I'm fine." Lance replies coldly, disabling the direct communication between the red and blue lions. He could hear Keith sigh in the full group communications, but he bit his tongue harder and kept quiet. The silence was killing him.

At the end of the mission the five paladins returned to the ship, all worn out by the days attack. They group in the main area, and nobody says a word. All eyes were on Lance and Keith, who were sitting opposite each other, avoiding eye contact. The silence lingers for a moment before Lance gets up. "I'm going to take a nap."

As soon as Lance had excited the room Keith stands too. "I might as well do the same."

Keith exits, and the room fills with concerned whispers for the two. "We're all in the dark to what's going on!" Hunk says nervously. "I'm worried for them."

The rest of the group nods, trying to keep their composure about them.

Meanwhile, Keith was walking down the hall to Lance's door, he knew it wouldn't be locked, it never was, but nevertheless he knocked. There was no response. He knocked again, louder, more frantically. There was no rustling of sheets inside the room. The door was metal, but still Kieth worried. He pushed open the door, and sighed. Lance was leaning against the wall, exhaustion plastered on his face. He was asleep.

"Lance, wake up," Keith murmurs, shaking his shoulders. Lance mumbles and opens his eyes, looking crestfallen when he sees Keith's face above his.

"Why are you here, Keith," Lance hisses. Anger shines in his eyes, but tears shield it.

"I," Keith hesitates, "I wanted to give you something!"

"Then give it to me and get out!" Lance yells, curling into a smaller ball.

Keith hangs his head for a moment before leaning down and pressing his lips against Lance's. His eyes close, and his heart flutters. He wasn't sure before, but he loved Lance McClain. After a few seconds Keith pulls away, admiring Lance's face, with closed eyes and a gorgeous tan. He sighs, knowing that he broke the boys heart, and he gets up to leave. "Keith wait," Lance murmurs. "Don't leave, that was nice." Keith smiles, kneeling down again.

"Lance the floor is uncomfortable," he smiles, offering a hand out to Lance, who takes it and uses it to pull him self up. As he stands Lance presses himself into Keith's arms, back against his lips. They entangle, falling on the bed. "Lance.. I'm sorry about yesterday. I love you, and I want to be the lucky person with you."

"I got that, mullet." Lance replies humorously. "But who wouldn't want me, Allura doesn't know what she's missing out on."

Keith stuffs a pillow in Lance's face, trying to hold back a snort of laughter.
