MHA x M Reader (All this time, I've been playing human) P1
Author's note: I don't have any experience with MHA characters, nor with the anime/manga, but I do have a general understanding of the world. There might be some changes, so bare with me.
It's funny, you know. Being normal, in a world of superpowers, is hard to come by. I've seen quirkless struggle in their daily lives, being berated and bullied for not having fantastical powers only one could imagine. The many people I met during my life have stories of their heroism and greatness, while I stayed the same boring man.
The irony here is that, while they have quirks, they don't have courage or will. While most would often see me as weak and pathetic, in truth I am just as dangerous than even those with quirks. They may see themselves as superior, but if you break them down, they are still the fragile soul, who didn't know anything about constant suffering. Rarely have I ever met a person who shows sympathy and have quirks.
Even if I am quirkless, I can still be a threat. And so when the day the robots attacked, it sparked an opportunity. I took what I can of what's left of them and brought it all back. I began to reverse engineer the complexity of the machine, being intricate and delicate with the motors, gears, wiring and circuits. Since them I've been pushing myself to test these things, so I rarely noticed the people around me were a bit worried. I can't blame them, but this is my one chance to shine.
The first model was a bit of a hassle. I was nearly killed by a villain and hero in their battle. The armor, while good, need some improvements. Back to the drawing board. Day after day, fights after fights and test after test, I've worked on this project of mine for a long time. It's a bit crude, but functional. And I was ready to test it.
One of the few quirk friends that I have made, came to see me doing my project. I'd say she may be the kindest person on the planet as she isn't like the rest. If you ask what is her quirk, you might want to wait.
We tested the flight capabilities of the project and all I could say is this "handles like a dream". Heh, sorry, it's a movie line you might know. Anywho, we both flew into the night sky, admiring the beautiful moon, and the busy city from below. All I could say, the people down below would be surprised to see a hero flying with a robot. I can't blame them.
As soon as my flying is stable enough, I'm ready to test its maneuverability. My friend began launching her substance at me. Can't say what it is, but I'll leave it to the imagination. Anyways, I was just dodging just fine, only a few moments for the object to glance the armor. I manage to reach her, which wasn't too difficult and we celebrate. But the I decided to step it up a noch.
While my friend is talking to her other friends on the phone, I decided to fly upwards to the sky. I booster the thrusters as I climbed higher and higher, thought there were ice building up. I kept going until the ice finally took over and I started falling. It was a fast fall, and she has yet to recognize it all too late. I can tell she tried her best to slow the fall, to divert me towards the water, but it won't be enough. However, I did manage to get the thrusters working again and save myself.
After a nights flight, the media started to pop up as I saw my project being talked about. I kept my eyes on the phone as more and more opinions were being said as I work on the project. But then I got another news regarding the unnerving. While this is common for heroes, for someone like me, it's disgusting. Another villain attack. It happens so frequent, it became common place around the area.
As I worked and improve on the armor, I noticed on the news regarding the quirk and quirkless complex. Now, from where it is filmed, it's likely these people lived together in the secluded area which have recently been disturbed by the arrival of the villains. And then when the reporter said that heroes are on the way but can't defuse the situation, I had to do something.
. . . . .
News Reporter's POV
This is bad. Me and my partner can't find a way out. The villain have us cornered and no way out. They were threatening to execute the civilians if we don't comply. Since I see no hope to defuse it ourselves, we have to give in.
My partner and I cautiously step out of our hiding spot and we began to record. The villain says the following: "This is our message to the world. These people... despite them having quirks, they are weak! They are useless and they are as pathetic as the quirkless. It's in every beings right to choose for themselves, but as a species we must survive as only the strongest to come on top. We -". Before he could say anything further, we heard a familiar sound of a jet engine. This close? What kind of hero would have that?
We all look up to see a robot landing in the middle of the villains. My partner captured everything as the robot beats and throw the villains around like ragdolls. Eventually, it stopped its fight and watched over the village as they all rejoice and us being relived. He then walks over to a wall and pulls out the villain that send the message earlier.
It flies off, just after they said to us, "He's all yours", and up to the clouds and left the village to the shock and awe of all of us; and I believe everyone watching this, have the same reaction too.

(Y/n)'s Older sister's POV
I heard lots of clanking noises recently and the absence of (Y/n). Usually, he would be in his room, drawing fantastical and tech like armor I'm sure he did this to comfort the fact he doesn't have a quirk. Regardless, I did check the room and surprisingly he is not there.
I went back down to see if anyone has seen (Y/n). Apparently, no one, even our little brother, has seen (Y/n) for sometime now. Little Shinobi (which is our little brother's nickname and I think it's cute) almost always be near (Y/n), even if we aren't sure where he may be. I went to ask him, when we both heard grunting and drilling from downstairs.
Both Little Shinobi and I walked down the stairs to the basement and we see many sheets of metal, a foundry, a couple of tools and hammers as well as papers and a book. What surprised us before we saw all of these, is (Y/n) in that armor trying to take it off. He looked at us and said, "Let's face it, this is not the worst thing you've caught me doing."
We both walked towards him and we were amazed by the suit. I went to ask him about it and he explained it very roughly, "Just a hobby now after taking what's left of the robots. It's like the saying, "One man's trash is another man's treasure." Sometimes I wonder how that got into his head. Almost reminded me the first time we got him.
I should point out that both my mom and dad have quirks, so nearly all of us have quirks of our own... except for (Y/n). He may be an exception, but damn does he make a really good mentor to Little Shinobi. I'll even admit that I'm a little jealous of him, considering he doesn't have quirks, yet he has the ideals and virtues of some veteran.
. . . . .
(Y/n)'s POV
You might be wondering if I should stop. After all, in this world, being quirkless could possibly lead to death. I've heard many of the quirkless work as support for tech, but where's the fun in that. Besides, there is a reason why I made that armor. A reason for my existence. A reason for others like me to look up too.
Ever since that day, I began a life of a vigilante, taking down villains where ever they go. You might be wondering if this would caught the attention of the public eye, but to be honest, I rarely show my face. Well for one thing, I am a bit insecure as I acted like a hero, but I'm quirkless. Secondly, I'm afraid that if the villains were to ever know me, my family would be in danger, even if they are pro heroes.
After the day I saved the village, people around the world began calling me by different names. For the light-hearted, it would be "The Armored Hero", "The Robot Hero", "Metal Man" (those always wanted to make me chuckle); others were inspired by Comic books of old heroes "Metal", "The Iron Sentinel", and possibly "Silver Bullet"; And there are those names that could be harmful to a reputation oriented hero and more on the darker side, as the notorious "Death Engine" (More or less a name most villains tend to call me by). However, of all the names that people call me so far, there is one that stood out: "Knight Engine".
Honestly, I can't choose favorites, but if I am needed to choose an alias, this would be "Knight Engine". A silly name, no doubt, yet one that is closest to what I'm striving to be. I don't need power, popularity or fame, though I do quite indulge in such, all I need is my family and others to be safe. Not much of a knight, but I believe it's appropriate.
Heh... If you're wondering if any of the heroes ever met me. Let's just say, the few that had met me, have mixed reactions. Some were just fine, others were excited to meet me, some were a bit cautious and there are those that didn't like me. Well, I was a bit hurt, but it shouldn't surprise me that they didn't think highly of me, although they didn't know I'm a quirkless.
I also shouldn't forget the time I've met my parents during their heroism. I met them a couple of times and to be frankly honest, they are still the joyful couple I've felt even at home. Even if they aren't exactly my real biological parents, they seem to treat me like anyone else in the family: respect, kindness and care.
Then finally, the day where I am revealed to be the armored hero... Sorta.
If I can recall, it happen during the Sporting Festival, where the students of U.A. can show off their quirks and fight till one is the victor. I can't exactly remember the students that fought, but I did remember the villain that I fought. It's vague but I can generalized them to have super strength and speed at the cost of their skin. I would say that that quirk can either be genius or stupid (well yeah you have great speed and strength, but at the cost of your expose fibers in which... You know what I'm not even gonna bother you with that jargon)
Anywho, I was battling the villain just a couple of blocks away from the festival. I need them to be far from the festival as to not disturb them. However, it wouldn't be long as they grabbed my ankle, throw me up to the sky, and punch me towards the festival. Great.
The people became restless as the villain goes after me. The fight became chaotic as citizens were harmed, wounded or dead. I can't let this sadist harm anymore. But seems I'm their target. Punches were thrown, craters left and a lot of collateral damage. I'd say this was the fight for not only mine, but others as well. I was doing my absolute best to diffuse the situation long enough for backup to arrive - however, it won't last long. The villain grabbed my ankle once more and throw me to a stadium.
. . . . .
No one's POV
The people inside the stadium stoped cheering as they heard the thundering crash of the armored hero breaking the wall. They saw him tumble until he hit the ground, lying there motionless with a large crack on his faceplate - thus vaguely revealing the identity of the hero. Before long, a villain comes out of the hole of the wall and talk the armored hero, the crowd in visible fear and shock.
"Heh, I gotta handed to ya, of all the heroes I have faced and killed, you lasted longer than even them. Added to the fact that you face me alone, is quite impressive. Unfortunately for you, it won't satisfy me and fortunately for me, I got a stadium fill of people and it will be fun."
They turn to face the scared, little student. A sinister grin formed on their face as he approached her. The stomp of their foot and massive size intimidated the little girl to the point she tried to run, yet her body is unable to do so.
"Starting with you!"
In that moment, (Y/n) watched as the villain raises their fist and prepared to bring it down at her. That scene is awfully familiar... No, it is familiar. Angered, (Y/n) lifts his arm just in time as he blasted the Villain away from the student. He looked at the student and told her to run back to her family - and she did so.
As for the villain, they recovered from their injury and just stare at the armored hero before them. They psychotically laugh as their muscles began to build up. Eventually, the muscles tore the skin of the villain, but they didn't care. They cracked their knuckles and said, "Heh, so you still have a little fight in you. Prepare to die!"
That phrase... (Y/n) finally loses it.
His thrusters began to activate as the Villain sprints towards him. (Y/n) stood his ground, waiting for the villain to get closer and closer and then... He launched. With such speeds, he flew towards the Villain as he clenches his hand into a fist. In mere moments, he raised his hand and made contact with the villain's muscles.
After the sprint, (Y/n) looked at his oppressor as he saw a chuck of the arm muscles have been removed. The villain looked back at (Y/n), just as the muscles repair themselves. The Villain laughs once more, but (Y/n) gave the villain the hurt of their lives.
The armored hero dashes forward and attacked the villain with a series of punches and kicks, while the villain questioned the tactics of the hero. However, it became apparent as some of the muscles around the villain's body bruises as their shirt rots away. Moments later, (Y/n) create distance from him and the Villain as he unleashed an arsenal of weapons at them. The villain used their quirk to gain enough speed to try and avoid most of the various rockets, however, the lasers became from a nuisance to a danger as the light burn through the fibers of the muscles.
Eventually, one of the muscles snapped, right above the tricep. With it now exposed, (Y/n) flys towards the villain, grabbed the loose muscles and twirl the villain like a flail, before sending the villain high into the sky!
He pushed the villain even further up to the sky by their back, temporarily disabling their ability to fight back. He soon slammed his fist down at them before flying below them and kneeing their abdomen. A gasp of their mouth, still not done yet. He took the arm and send the villain crashing back to the ground.
(Y/n) hovered back down to the ground as he witness the villain coming out from the crater. Oh they didn't have enough yet. With one last breath to stand, the two take one last action. The villain uses the last of their strength to lunge at the hero, while the latter remain motionless. (Y/n) only has one shot and it is all he need for when the villain's face was close, he punches their head with his metal gauntlet, finally knocking out the villain for good.
(Y/n), being tired from the fight, walked away from the body before collapsing to the ground. Exhaustion finally took over as (Y/n) uses the last of his strength to lay on his back and watches the sky, before he closes his eyes.
. . . . .
(Y/n)'s POV
Well, this was it. It's been a fun ride, while it lasted. I think I will finally meet them again. But then, I woke up.
When I open my eyes, all I see is a blurry and a bright white light before i refocus to see I'm on a medical bed. I realized that I'm not in my armor. Well, I guess there goes that. Or was it? I turn to look to see silhouettes of people standing outside. I can hear them talking, but for me being so hurt I rather tune it out for some peace.
Soon the curtains are open and I am subjugated by the hugs and tears from my family. They said things like, "Thank god, you're okay" and "we missed you". Honestly, I don't know why, but this make me tear up as well. The smiles on their faces as I too embrace them was truly the best possible moment for me.
Soon, we separated ourselves and I ask, "What happened?"
Mom and Dad then recounted the incident and the medics were there to save me as well as the heroes. They were there as I lied down being unconscious. The moment they open my damaged faceplate they knew instantly that it's me. I thought I was done for, but they then said, "Son, if there is anything you want to do, just come to us. We'll be there for you."
I was relieved, then ask again, "What happened to my suit?"
"It's being shipped back to your home, Mr (L/n)", a man in a rather fancy suit told me. "I must admit, I didn't expect a quirkless to be in that suit. I was thinking more in the lines of Endeavor, but the man's pride prevented himself from not showing his face."
He then ask me, "Why do you cover your face Mr (L/n), unlike most heroes?" I answered, "It's a reminder of the consequences if I ever did show my face to the world. Just like what happened to -"
H stopped me before I go further, "No no, it's okay. I can see the motivation, you don't have to bring it up, if that's okay with you."
I simply said, "okay", before looking back at my family members. "Wait, does anyone know I was the armored hero?"
The man replied to me, "No, son. Except for few that came to the scene, no one's gonna know your identity. Do you want it to be a secret?"
"Yes", I said back then he nodded and my mother slowly let me rest on the hospital bed. She said to me, "Now (Y/n), we will discuss about this and before we do any of that, just take a rest."
. . . . .
"... What's your name hero?"
"Call me, "Knight Engine".
