In which Mira and Laxus are dared by their friends to stand in the kitchen and MiraXus might be fated to happen.

"So..." Mira said akwardly. What was she supposed to do in this situation?! Laxus and her were just... standing there, doing nothing.

She thought back to earlier when Lucy and Levy teased her, saying that she was in love with Laxus.

Mira's face grew red just thinking about it. She slapped her cheeks a couple times to make her stop thinking about it.

"Stop it, Mira. He's sees you as just a friend. It doesn't matter if you l... like... him, he doesn't like you back that way!" Mira mumbled to herself.

From a few feet away, Laxus watched with seemingly impartial interest. He could of course hear everything she said. Mira never seemed to remember dragonslayer hearing.

After a few more minutes passed of an oblivious Mira, telling herself to stop thinking about Laxus that way, and said man listening in.

Eventually Laxus coughed, to pity her. He seemed emotionless but on the inside, he was thrilled.

"Hey, Mira? You ought to know that I can hear you right now." He said, chuckling slightly.

Her face turned bright red. "T-then, you uh, heard... all that about... l-liking y-you?" She stuttered. Laxus nodded. She covered her face with her hands.

"Shit." She muttered. Laxus was deep in thought.

He'd liked Mira for a while, but she never gave an indication of liking him back. He rebelled against the Master, and she was like the child the Master wished he had. It was like a twisted Beauty and the Beast story.

"I guess that makes me the Beast, huh? Except it's my fault that's my role." Laxus sighed and scratched the back of his head.

Mira, who was trying to imagine what could be worse than this, heard what Laxus said.

"The Beast? What are you talking about, Laxus?" Laxus turned a little red when he realized he'd said it aloud. But even more shocking was that he realized he loved the way his name sounded in her voice.

"Say that again."

"What? Say what again, Laxus?"

Laxus just smiled. "Good enough." He moved closer to her. Mira had fantasized enough that she had a good idea of what came next. She closed her eyes, and...

Laxus patted her on the head once. Mira's eyes opened angrily and she glared up at him. "What?" He asked. He had lost his courage at the last moment, sure, but he at least could've HUGGED her.

"Laxus, you idiot, this is what you're supposed to do. Close your eyes like I had mine a moment ago." She commanded him. Laxus was confused on what she was doing but obliged.

"Do it like this next time." Mira said. Then she stood up on her tippy toes and kissed him briefly and lightly on the lips. As if for the first time realizing what she'd done, Mira blushed and turned to run from the room. Laxus caught her arm.

When she turned around questioningly, he leaned down and kissed her like she'd kissed him. Then he let her go and she left the room, blushing furiously. Laxus just stood there for a minute, touching his mouth. Her lips were so soft...

***Later in the guild***

"What happened in the kitchen, Mira? After you and Laxus stood in there for a few minutes, you ran out blushing and left. Then Laxus cane out soon after, lost in thought, and he left too!" Lucy questioned the barmaid.

Mira giggled and didn't meet her eyes. Sure, she was embarrassed, but knowing Laxus might like her back excited her.

***A short timeskip***

"We're out of milkshake supplies... I'm gonna have to run into town, can you manage the bar while I'm gone, Kinana?" Mira sighed. Kinana nodded.

Mira walked out of the guild slowly into the brilliant sunlight. She squinted and shielded her eyes.

Because of this, she wasn't aware of where she was walking and soon bumped into a tall figure.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't- eep?!" Mira finished with a squeak as she saw who it was.

"Hey, Mira. I was lookin' for you." Laxus said, scratching the back of his head. Mira tilted her head to the side. Taking this as a sign to continue, Laxus kept talking.

"It's about earlier..." Laxus said, guiding Mira to the shade. The female mage blushed.

"And well, I thought about it... and I came to the conclusion to do this." Before Mira could react Laxus leaned in and kissed her.

Mira was suprised but didn't hesitate to kiss back. After a few seconds they broke apart, Laxus grinning.

"Guess that means we're a thing now?" He asked, smirking slightly. Mira laughed and punched his arm lightly.

"Just don't take it for granted."
