Killcode wandered through the house, seeming bored. She knew she was supposed to be hunting Mirror, but...it just didn't feel right anymore. There was just this feeling in her gut. You know that feeling where you think you left the stove on, or you're about to go to bed and realized you never closed the front door? It felt like that.

She had expressed her concerns to her brother, but he had waved her off. He was busy trying to find Mirror, of course. He didn't have time for her doubts. So she went to find Anubis and talk to him. The natural place to look would be his lab. So she went there.

She watched Yveline walk into the lab and got a notification on her visor. She opened it and saw it was a message from an unknown individual.

If you seek answers, seek the third room.

She tried to trace the message, but she didn't see the message anymore. She'd ask her brother about it later. She noticed Yveline leaving the lab and walk away. So Killcode walked into the lab.

She walked in just in time to notice a bookshelf slide into place, suspiciously. "The heck? Does Anubis have a secret room?" She scanned the bookshelf and realised it contained a pressure-based sensor set to the highest setting.

...What does he do, punch this thing? She walked to where the sensor was and hit it with her bo staff, causing it to open. She smiled to herself, glad she didn't have to hurt herself.

When she walked in, the bookshelf closed behind her, and the room behind it lit up. It was...another lab. How boring. Looking around, Killcode saw multiple screens with the term "Virus 35-A". What was that? She scanned the multiple consoles and found no further information. It was all locked behind a firewall, and she couldn't get past it. That was usually Diagnostic's job. So, naturally, she turned to leave, but then she heard a hissing sound.

Killcode turned around and saw a part of the wall sliding open. She hid in a security camera, the light on it becoming a light pink. Anubis walked out of the hole in the wall, the hole closing up behind him. As he walked out of the lab, the message from before popped into her head.

If you seek answers, seek the third room.

Huh...a bit on the nose, but okay. When she heard the bookshelf close, she jumped out of the camera and walked to where Anubis had walked out of the wall. She scanned it and saw multiple encrypted locks, which made her wonder why Anubis needed such heavy protections on this room. Was he hiding something?

Killcode took a chance and jumped at the wall, closing her eyes and preparing for impact. But there was nothing. She opened her eyes and found herself in one of the locks, staring at the other locks. They were a bright red and surrounded by tiny, digital Sentinels of various shapes and sizes. Killcode smiled and cracked her knuckles. She hadn't had a good fight in a while.

She pulled out her bo staff and whistled, getting the attention of all of the Sentinels. Killcode frowned. She would have preferred to do this one lock at a time, but she could live with this. As a smaller, more dog-like Sentinel ran at her, she impaled her staff into it, causing it to melt into a pile of code.

More began rushing Killcode, and she swiftly dealt with each of them. Then the big ones came. They were more than three times her size, and Killcode felt the "ground" shake beneath her feet as they lumbered towards her. There were three of them, one looked more like a Troll with a tree as a weapon, another a fantastically massive Knight with a sword and shield, and another still was more like an Archer with a large bow.

The troll reached her first, and she jumped onto his head and impaled her staff into his head, not killing him but taking control. Make the fight a bit easier. She made the troll run at the Archer, since it was most likely the one with the weakest defense. That, and she didn't like people taking pot-shots at a distance. The Troll smashed its club down onto the Archer, and it dodged out of the way.

"Ohh, we got a quick one! Well fine, then." She twisted her staff and the Troll dissolved into code. "I'll deal with you myself." Killcode leapt at the Archer, it barely dodging out of the way. She smiled and thrust her staff into the Sentinel's leg to immobilize it, and pulled out a small knife and drove it into the side of the Sentinel's head, causing it to melt.

Killcode picked up her bo staff and smiled to herself. Oh what fun this was! Then a massive sword landed next to her, and she barely jumped out of the way. "Right. One more." The Knight towered over her, it's helmet gleaming in the light of its fallen comrades. Killcode took her knife and aimed it carefully, before throwing it through one of the holes in the Knight's helmet, causing him to melt into code.

Killcode looked at her watch and frowned. "Damn. Could've done that faster. Oh well." She watched all of the locks turn green, and she jumped out of the circuit to see the hole in the wall start to slide open. She gave herself a pat on the back and walked inside, her Code Crystal's shining brightly behind her.

The decent-sized room was dark and mostly empty, save for a large, broken, empty tank in the middle of the room. Along the walls were multiple devices, and on the wall behind the tank was a computer. Killcode sat in the chair in front of it and pushed a button to turn on the monitor. Surprisingly, it seemed Anubis still hadn't logged out, just turned off the monitor. Killcode rolled her eyes at her creator's laziness, before looking at the monitor. There were four files on screen, each labeled Project Theta with a letter after it. She pulled up the first one and begun to read.

As she read, she failed to hear the sound of the secret door closing behind her, leaving her trapped with no way out. As she continued to read, she grew more and more unsettled.

"Jesus...so that's what 35-A is..."

Then she reached the end of the document and opened the next one. As she read, her face fell more and more, almost seeming afraid.

"What the fuck...? This is...this is horrible! How could he do something like this?"

Then a voice came from behind her. "Oh dear...it seems we have a little intruder." Killcode felt something wrap around her wrists and suddenly she was suspended in the air, facing Anubis. His hand looked like it was holding one of those puppet-cross thingies that the strings are attached to. He was frowning, and Killcode, for the first time in a while, felt terrified.

Anubis shook his head. "Now look what you've gone and done. Now I have to get rid of you. A shame. You were one of my favorites." Anubis's other hand made a gesture, and Killcode heard a crumbling noise below her. She looked down and saw the floor was breaking down, collapsing into an almost pitch-blackness. Anubis smiled. "Say hello to the others for me, dear."

Whatever was holding Killcode in the air let go, and she fell into the hole, her scream echoing through the room. Anubis inhaled and exhaled, smiling. "I do love a good banishing..."

-------

Killcode woke up in a dark forest, unable to see more than a few feet in front of her. She tried to remember how she got here, but all she remembered was falling. She must have hit her head on the way down from...wherever she was. She stood up and a pain shot through her left leg, sending her tumbling down to the ground.

"Ah, shit! Fuck, that hurts!" Killcode looked at her leg to see that the bone was sticking out of her left leg, and she proceeded to freak out. She reached into her "inventory" and pulled out a weird, glowing black liquid. She poured it on her leg and screamed in pain as the bone withdrew back into her leg, realigning with where it should normally be.

Killcode saw her bo staff a few feet away from her and dragged herself to it, unable to stand normally, and picked it up. She dragged herself to a tree with some low-hanging branches and slowly stood herself upright, bracing herself with her bo staff. She looked around and saw a light moving in the distance. Maybe whoever it was could help her.

She started walking in the direction of the light, shouting out to it.

"Hey! Can you help me?!"

The light stopped moving and she heard whispering, before the light was extinguished. She suddenly stopped and winced at the pressure she accidentally put on her leg. "Ah, dammit. Hello?" She looked around and saw another light up in a tree, but this one was different. It seemed...wrong, somehow. She pulled out a knife to defend herself, but she knew she wouldn't be able to use it. She heard footsteps behind her and turned to face where they were.

Behind her was another light, and she realised why it felt wrong. It was in the shape of a face. The "mouth", which appeared like it was flanked by a pair of mandibles, made a screaming noise and jumped at her. Killcode jumped put of the way, landing on her bad leg. She screamed and fell down, staring fearfully at the creature in front of her. It stepped into the dim glow of her Code Crystals, illuminating its features. The creature crawled on all fours, its eyes seemingly leaking out of its face, leaving glowing puddles on the ground as it moved. Its body was pitch-black, blending in perfectly with the dark. She could just barely see a pair of insect-like wings on its back, explaining the mandibles from before.

The creature pounced on her, trying to bite her. Killcode tried to stab it, but she had to use both hands to push it away from her. She struggled for what feels like forever, before she started to give way. The creature must have sensed her weakness, because it reared back and prepared for one final push. Or it would have, if a hook hadn't sprouted from its face. The creature went slack and its face stopped glowing. It hung loosely from the hook, before being flung aside. Killcode weakly held up her knife, before a bright purple light shone on her.

She covered her eyes and looked away, the bright light flashbanging her. The light changed color to white, and she heard multiple people talking, but she was so disoriented she couldn't tell what they were saying. Suddenly, one voice cuts through the rest. "You okay?"

She looked up at the figure above her, and almost did a double take. They looked like a fusion of Will and Steven. They were clearly inspired by the same Fandom as Will, but they had similar replaced limbs as Steven, even the little spot over his right eye. Instead of Ink, his limbs were replaced with blue robotic parts, the hook on his hand a clear signifier of who he was inspired by. His robotic eye was glowing a bright white, which seemed to be what was bringing her. What stuck out the most were, well, ears coming off the top of his head. Blue fox ears, to be precise. Matched their blue hair. The figure offered their hand, and Killcode took it. She leaned against her bo staff and looked around. She saw multiple individuals, but didn't get enough time to inspect them as she heard more monstrous screams coming from far away.

Killcode's savior turned to her. "Can you run?" Male, sixteen years old. Noted. Killcode shook her head. "Nope. My leg is broken."

The figure nodded understandingly and whistled. "Francis!" A small child with blonde hair skipped over and held his hands behind his back.

The Steven/Will hybrid gestured at Killcode. "We gotta go and she can't run. Can you help?"

The child smiled and nodded, walking over to Killcode. Francis snapped and suddenly Killcode was floating in the air. The child then climbed onto the Will/Steven hybrid and the person nodded. Their robotic eye turned an electric blue and Killcode noticed the hook turn into a taser. When they spoke, their voice was more gruff than before. "Alright everyone, get to a Safehouse or HQ if you can. The patrols are starting, and I don't know about you but I don't wanna be caught! We will not come back for you! Now get the fuck outta here!"

The various people in the group ran in the same general direction, some lagging behind others. The person turned to Francis and tilted his head. The child nodded and the person's eye turned green, the taser turning into a hand that matched the robotic arm.

This time they had a British accent. "Okay, running time. Time to run." Purple eye, no British accent. "Just get going!" Green again. "Right, okay, sorry. Running now!" The person began running through the forest, passing multiple lights starting to flicker into existence. Killcode was floating behind the figure and Francis at a similar speed. A surprising speed, actually. Killcode watched the trees pass by as if she were riding in a vehicle of sorts. Interesting.

Soon they arrived in a ruined city of sorts. Most of the buildings were broken with large holes in the sides, but Killcode saw signs of habitation in several. There were clothes hanging from the sides of buildings as if to dry, and multiple buildings had lights lit inside. Not the bad lights like she'd just seen, but orange lights. Lights of fire and torches. Multiple torches also lined the streets, the city even had a perimeter of them.

The person slowed and eventually stopped in front of the most intact building. It appeared to be a Police Station, and several people were rushing inside. Francis climbed off of the figure and skipped inside with Killcode, with Killcode still floating.

The person closed the door behind them and locked it, their eye back to a plain bright white. Francis put down Killcode when the figure turned around, skipping off. Killcode sat on a chair, staring at the figure who had saved her. He was looking through the windows, making sure the torches were lit, and checking the locks on the door. When he seemed content, he sat in the chair behind the desk and grabbed a radio. He held it up to his mouth and spoke.

"HQ to Safehouses, come in Safehouses. Over."

The radio squawked a response in several voices. He sighed as if this was a normal occurrence and spoke again. "Role call. Over."

"Safehouse 1. We have ZS, Theodore, and Zach. Over."

"Safehouse 2A. We have Antivirus, Samantha, and Cass. Over."

"Safehouse 2B. Just me, Leo. Over."

"Safehouse 3C. We have Telum, Unit 17, and Frank. Over."

The person nodded approvingly with each name listed off. Killcode wasn't really paying attention, as she was mostly trying to contact Diagnostic on her User Interface. Somehow she didn't have signal.

The figure seemed to be waiting for something, before they spoke again. "Is that everyone? What about Dweller? Over."

Nobody responded.

The figure sat up straight. "Has anyone seen Dweller? Over."

The people from before gave varying degrees of "No." Will sighed and spoke into the radio again. "If they're not here for Role in the morning, I'm marking him on the board. Over and out." He put away the radio and walked over to Killcode.

Killcode looked up at him for a moment, before pulling up her User Interface again. He sat next to her and offered out his robotic hand. "Name's Will Fox, but you can call me whatever."

Killcode looked over at him briefly, before going back to what she was doing. "Killcode. You remind me of my friends, Will and Steven." She looked over at him to see his response.

WF frowned, before rolling his eyes and mumbling something. Then he seemed confused. "Who are they?"

Killcode went back to her User Interface again and begun fiddling with some dials. "Will is Anubis's main FNAF OC, a Funtime Foxy ripoff with blue highlights instead of pink. Steven is his BatIM character, and he looks kinda like you, except he doesn't have the ears, tail, hair color, or robotic limbs. Instead of your robotic limbs, his are replaced with ink. And he's more old-timey. And mute, which you clearly are not."

She heard the sound of creaking metal and saw that WF was crushing the chair in his robotic grip in seeming anger. He stopped when he realized he was doing it and sighed. Killcode looked at all the chairs and saw similar signs of being crushed, before WF spoke up. "So...how did you get here? You seem fairly up-to-date with Anubis's creations, so I'm guessing you're just visiting? Not permanent?"

Killcode threw up her hands in exasperation, her User Interface disappearing. "I have no idea! Last thing I remember is leaving my room and then I'm just falling through the air, eventually landing here and breaking my leg." She gestured at her leg, then put her head in her hands. "I've been trying to contact my twin for the past hour while you were on that radio over there and nothing's worked." She sighed and sat back in her seat. "I just...I think I just need to sleep."

Will Fox nodded in understanding, standing up. "Might do the same, to be honest." He pointed down one of the hallways. "Go that way and you'll find the interrogation rooms. We have them set up as bedrooms for now. We're currently trying to renovate one of the buildings out there for that purpose, but progress is slow."

Killcode nodded, before grabbing her bo staff and limping off in the direction WF had pointed. She saw multiple rooms had names on them and eventually opened one without a name on it, finding a mattress set up in the corner. She sighed and sat down on it, holding her head in her hands.

"What the fuck is happening...?" Suddenly she saw a message appear on her visor from another unrecognized messager, except this one had a name.

"Antivirus...? Didn't that person on the radio say something about that?" She decided she'd deal with it in the morning and lied on the mattress, activating Sleep Mode since she didn't think she'd fall asleep the normal way.

-------

Will Fox watched Killcode walk away, Vincent's voice in his head.

The fuck does she mean, she 'fell'? Thought you could only get in through the basement door?

Will shrugged. He heard a knock on the door and turned around to see Zombietale Sans was at the door. Poor guy.

His bones were perpetually falling from his body, regenerating almost instantly, though filled with cracks. He was incredibly fragile, wearing a set of combat armor to lessen the effects his condition had on him. Will let him in, the poor skeleton shuffling inside.

Will closed the door and locked it again, before turning back to ZS. "I thought you were at Safehouse 1?"

Zombie sat down, his head falling off and shattering on the ground. His head quickly regenerated and he sighed, holding his head up with his hand. His face quickly brightened in excitement and he turned to Will Fox. "We found something! Something new!"

Vincent rolled Will's eyes. "Of course it'd be new if you just found it."

Will smacked the side of his head, silencing his little "Brain Buddy". "Well? What is it?"

ZS shook his head. "Not until tomorrow. Everyone needs to hear this."

Will sighed, but just waved it off. "Fine. I'm going to bed. Today's been a long one..." He walked down the hallway to the makeshift barracks, before opening a door with his name on it and flopping onto the bare, carpeted ground. He didn't have a mattress because he didnt deserve one. He flipped over and stared at the ceiling.

"Sometimes I wonder what life would've been like if I never stayed down here to take care of Caretaker when he got sick. Would I have ended up here anyways? Would I have been locked down here like the rest of the rejects? Or could all this have been prevented?" He held up his robotic arm above him, inspecting the transparent blue plastic and metal endoskeleton within.

Will Fox opened a panel and stared at the switches within: A Purple switch, Electric Blue switch, Lime Green switch, and a Red switch. Below all of those was a Black switch. He stared at the Black switch with a sense of longing, his human hand hovering over it for a second. Nobody would miss him, right? He could just...find a hole and flip the switch. Nobody would find him, nobody could turn him back on. He could just rest...permanently.

His mind thought about the Paperspace, back when it was just him, Anubis, Legend, and Caretaker. He remembered Anubis had walked through the door one day with the two bundles in his arms, explaining what Legend and Caretaker were, explaining they appeared younger than normal since they were twins. He remembered holding them and staring at their faces with joy. He was no longer alone. But now...

Will's thoughts were interrupted when two folded pieces of paper fell from the hatch to his arm panel. He picked them up and unfolded the older one, staring in awe of what he saw.

"Holy shit...so that's where you were?"

He stared at the picture he had taken so many years ago, before the SBF, before the Basement, before everything. Caretaker had just figured out how to play guitar. He smiled and folded it back up, sticking it back in his panel. He looked at the other paper and unfolded it, finding a piece of paper with his handwriting on it.

Hey. If you're reading this, that means we're contemplating it again, aren't we? Yeah, okay, I'll make this short. Listen. We've got people who depend on us to help them see another day. All of them would have died if we hadn't stepped up and led them to safety. As egotistical as it sounds, ask anyone. They'll tell you it's true. So put the note and picture back, close the panel, and go back to bed. We're not done yet.

Will Fox sighed and put the note back with the picture, staring at the red switch. "Hey Edward?"

Edward's cheerful British voice entered his head. "Yes?"

"Wake me up if anything happens or morning time comes. Okay?"

"Yes sir. Get some rest. You deserve it."

Will smiled and flicked the Red switch, closing the panel before he blacked out.

Edward's glowing green eye shone in the darkness of the room. Will was asleep now and wouldn't wake up until the switch was flipped back. Edward crossed his arms and got up. He was going to make himself something to eat.

"I swear, this boy wouldn't eat anything if it weren't for me."

He opened the door and stalked off through the torch-filled hallways to the break room. There was always food there.

-------

Anubis stared at the hole in the floor as it closed up, leaving only a small crack. He shook his head regretfully.

"Why did you have to go snooping around where you didn't belong? Now people are going to ask questions." Anubis rubbed his forehead, trying to soothe his pounding headache. He reached inside his jacket and opened a mint tin, pulling out a glowing black orb and eating it. Immediately he felt his headache alleviate, a small smile appearing on his face.

"Well...time to go fabricate a story until all this is sorted out. I can do that." He walked out of the room, catching his reflection in a computer monitor. He saw a black figure with red eyes, dressed in a suit and bowtie. Anubis spun around and looked for who he just saw.

But nobody was there.

Anubis shook his head and smacked himself. "Hallucinating again? How unfortunate." He closed his secret lab, unaware of the invisible entity watching his every move.
