Warning: Discussion of Intrusive Thoughts

Thoughts are so loud aren't they. Some just hum at the back of the mind and others shout "That guy looks just like Michael Sera!" (Another story for another day). Some are nasty and intrusive. But thoughts are just that, thoughts. They don't define a person. What defines a person isn't the flimsy flitting thoughts that come and go through the day, but the core values and ideals that a person clings to.
This is an important topic for me because I deal with intrusive thoughts and I felt so alone until I found out that other people dealt with them too. I was filled with so much fear and anxiety because I didn't want them. These thoughts didn't align with my values or ideals, they were violent, scary, and confusing. Knowing that there were other people that struggled with the same things I did gave me so much comfort, and understanding ways on how to ground myself has made everything one hundred times better. It only goes to show that whatever you go through, someone else has experienced something similar or the exact same thing and that you are never alone with you struggles.
