Me and My Late, Great Fandoms *Spoilers*
I have a few fandoms, but there's a couple problems.
1) Only fangirl in grade= forever alone
For those fandoms, anyway.
2) I get into them late...
List of fandoms:
Star Wars
The Lord of the Rings/ The Hobbit
Warrior Cats
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Wings of Fire
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
The Heroes of Olympus
Kane Chronicles
Rise of the Guardians
So, starting from the oldest to the youngest, eh?
That means Warriors. I got into the series about second grade. I'd heard of Erin Hunter before, through the Seekers series. See, at my old school there was a book sale thing every year, at the open house, about. So, I picked up the first Seekers book and got hooked into the series... I've fallen behind though :P. I'm not really into it anymore, though I admit that my favorite character is Kallik. One of the ladies who work/ed at the school pointed out that Erin was also the author of Warriors. I wasn't that interested though, they were already on the Power of Three arc already XD.
Then, I became friends with KittyTails_ and picked up Fire and Ice, the second Warriors book, at the library. Plus some. So, I read them, as in order as I could and became obsessed. I eventually got all of the books and started to draw the cats as well, and made up my own clans, OCs, et cetera, et cetera. I've fallen behind though.
I also started reading Percy Jackson, once again finding The Lightning Thief at a library, but the school library where I had found Seekers. I found and read all of the books, even though I didn't actually become as obsessed with it as I did Warriors. I did think that the movies did a terrible job in being true to the book, though. In the first one, Annabeth was brunette, if I recall correctly. I mean, what?! No, just no... At least that was fixed in the second movie, and I thought that they did an excellent job with Medusa's design and stuff. Pretty cool.
Anyways, that lead to the Kane Chronicles. I immediately liked it, and was greatly amused to the references to PJO. I like Anubis a lot, he was very awesome :D :D. Also, Sadie was very cool. And Bes. I couldn't forget Bes, could I?
In 2012 I discovered Star Wars through Costco. Yes, Costco. They have sample TVs, and they'll play movies on them. I have a memory of when I was very young and saw the 'I am you father' scene. I remember thinking, What in the world is that?! So then I saw Phantom Menace and maybe another episode, and I was thinking, Is that Star Wars? I asked my dad, and he ordered the original trilogy on Netflix. I watched A New Hope and was like, Woah!! This is pretty cool!! I became seriously... Obsessed. I watched the prequel trilogy as well, and Revenge of the Sith became my favorite. I found Star Wars fanfiction online, and discovered the Clone Wars Adventures on the Star Wars website. I finally was able to watch them. But I discovered it just before the show ended, in May 2013. Sucked for me.
Around the same time I found the first Wings of Fire book, The Dragonet Prophecy, at yet another book sale, this time at my new school!! I saw 1) that it was about Dragons and 2) IT WAS BY TUI SUTHERLAND!! I still remember her on Jeopardy, by the way. She was one of the Erins, so of course it seemed promising. Dudes, it exceeded all expectations!! Lol I'm listening to a Piano Tutorial of Pirates of the Caribbean, and I just started typing faster at 'exceeded'. Lol. I can't wait for Sunny's book to come out...
Then I watched the Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. That hooked me to the Lord of the Rings. I had never actually watched (Hey, a World of Tanks ad on the TV!!) the LotR, except for the battle scenes. My brother and I would just camp in the hall, and peek around the corner when there was a battle scene XD. However, I only really remember Battle of the Pelennor Fields. (All of that was because of Gollum, by the way.) Then I watched the Hobbit and watched the LotR films, which were released around when I was born to a toddler, and hence meaning that I was watching them a decade after Return of the King was released. 2013, kids. I had an idea for a fanfiction, which was A Female (Or Two) in the Fellowship.
Speaking of Rise of the Guardians, I LOVE how Santa Claus was Russian, and Jack Frost looks AND SOUNDS like Hiccup from How to Train your Dragon. Amazing!! HICCUP YAYS
And I found Avatar: the Last Airbender through the movie, through my mom. I know that practically everyone I know doesn't like it, but it's good for a weekend thing, you know? When you don't want to use any brain cells, or anything. I also thought that Uncle Iroh looked EPIC, however, and I thought it interesting that FN and Water Tribe skin tones were... switched. Whatever. I got 'Katara and Aang are supposed to end up together' pretty quickly, and then picked up on Zutara vibes. Aha, ahahahaa... lol. Then I convinced my dad to start getting the episodes from Netflix, and fell in love. I guess you could tell this and LotR were my fandoms from my prof background, couldn't you, huh...? But what's really sad is that I found the fandom 6 years after it ended. That means I'm about 9 years late!! Arrggg!! And of course I got hooked on Zutara from the fanvids... And most of the songs on my 'Current Faves' playlist is from them. I can't help it... This may be one of the few times that I go against canon!! *gasp*
And through Avatar, I'm beginning to accept my own drawing style... sometimes it's actually very similar, actually, like this one drawing for SW that I drew and still need to color, before I knew about ATLA, and Zuko looks like someone, but I won't tell who yet, and he was created years before I knew who Zuko was, and most SW fans seem also to like LotR and ATLA, and EHRMAHGERED ZUKO
Also, I drew Zuko, and I love how it turned out!! Well, the scar side anyway... It's addicting!!
