Couple #3
Couple number three is a little bit harder to explain, because they are both pretty messed-up characters. This next ship I'm about to talk about is from the Buffy fandom, (if you don't know what that is, see Couple #1) and they're probably the most popular characters Joss Whedon has created.
That's right, I'm a Spuffy shipper (BuffyXSpike).
Now, like I said before, Buffy is mainly shipped with Angel, so I can see why most people would disagree. A lot of people prefer to see these characters on their own, rather than in a relationship with each other.
A lot of people I know who have watched the show seem to wonder why I prefer Spike over Angel. They insist that Angel is cuter, and that Buffy should be with him instead. But let's take a moment to analyze their lives rather than their looks.
I'll start with Angel. As a human, Angel was a disgrace to his family. He was always drug and he hung out with certain....people. When he was turned into a vampire, he was on his way to pay a prostitute for her services with his family's money. He ran into Darla, and became the Big Bad of the vampires. As a vampire, he tortured and murdered countless victims, including Drusilla, whom he sired. He also tortured all of Dru's family while she looked on, which made her go insane. Later, Angel is cursed with a soul, and he finds Buffy, and begins to seek redemption. However, because of his love for her, he murders Jenny and threatens Buffy's friends. Now, other than that, he was pretty good to her. But obviously, watching your friends be threatened by your boyfriend is a major setback. Angel and Buffy remain together for a little while longer, until Angel has to leave.
Let us now move on to Spike. As a human, Spike, (otherwise known as William) was a shy, yet gentle lad who lived with his mother and took care of her. He wrote really bad poetry (like, really bad) and was always made fun of for it. However, on one night in particular, when he had presented his poetry to a young Cecily Addams, he was continuously mocked. This embarrased him greatly, and he begged Cecily to understand, but she responded by telling him that he was 'below her.' After this, he ran into Dru, was turned into a vamp, and he even turned his mother into a vamp (whom he later killed). Needless to say, he too killed millions of innocent people, mainly Slayers. Blah, blah, blah, time goes on, and Spike is always trying to kill Buffy, until the Initiative puts a chip in his head. He no longer chases other puppies anymore, and he starts to develop a love for Buffy. At first, she denies him, and is always putting him down, until she comes back from Heaven. Then, she begins to use him for her pleasure. Finally, when she's done with him, he won't leave her alone, and even attacks her. After this, he receives a soul, and helps Buffy no matter what.
Now, this is a hard choice. Both characters had some good moments, and both of them have even physically or mentally hurt Buffy. However, I think she should be with Spike, and here's why.
Buffy is already a gloomy character by the time we reach season 6. She is always trying so hard to be normal, that she often pouts or becomes frustrated easily. Now Angel, (being the broody vamp he is) would probably allow the teenage drama to continue, while Spike would be more apt to knock Buffy into next week and tell her to move on. And the latter is exactly what Buffy needs. She doesn't need someone who depends on her, and she needs someone who could lift her up and tell her when she's being stupid. And Spike does just that.
Well guys, I gotta go, so I'm gonna have to conclude this. I hope that you agree with me, but if you don't, that's your opinion. Please comment below and have a nice day!
