I can see her true self while she's somewhat of a spirit as a bluebird. 

They resemble happiness and throughout the game, you try to find the Eternal Happiness for her mom. 

Even though Misfortune grew up with pretty horrible parents and in an unstable household, she tries to find her own happiness as she throws glitter on things that are depressing, gloomy or graphic. 

Despite everything, she felt loved by everything around her no matter what situation she's in.
