Sapphire's POV

I was sleeping peacefully in my room when the sun start to wake me up.

I sat up in my bed rub my eyes and looked out side, then suddenly I remember something.

Oh my god.. Today is my 17th birthday.. I can't wait to tell my parents..

I quickly went to the bathroom and got myself ready..

After 30 minutes of getting ready I went downstairs and saw my night light dragon sleeping.

I rolled my eyes and went to the kitchen and as usual I saw my grandmother, "Morning Grandma!" I said cheerfully

"Good morning my sweetheart" she said and kissed me on the forehead.

Before I could say something, she spoke, "Oh by the way.. Happy Birthday my dear.. I have a gift for you" She said and gave me a book.. But its not just any ordinary book.

Its a drawing book.. Since I love drawing stuff I could use this.

I gave her a smile and hugged her.

"Thank you Gradma! I LOVE IT!" I said and kissed her cheeks

"I'm glad you like it my dear, come, I already prepared your breakfast" she said and I nod.

"Um.. Grandma.. Where's mom and Dad" I asked and she suddenly stop on what she's doing.

"Well..um.. Your mum have to go to a mission with the A team, while your dad is out for a meeting.. So I am the one who is in charge in the village right now.

My smile fade away when I realize they won't be here again.

" They forgot again did they" I asked sadly, "Oh Honey, of course they didn't.. Maybe they will greet you when they come back" My grandmother said.

I just sigh, "Well, don't worry grandma, I'm use to it now.. Besides it always happens every year. They're busy, they won't remember, they will forget" I said and looked at her she just sigh

"Don't worry my dear me and Uncle gobber is here" she said and I just smiled.

-Time skips-

Valka's POV

Its already mid night around 3 am and Sapphire's parents aren't still here.

I was sitting in the kitchen knitting some scarf when suddenly, I heard the door in the front opened.

I looked who it was and there my exhausted son and his wife.

"Finally you two are back.. Come and sit here cause we need to talk" I said sternly, they both sigh.

"Mom, can we talk tomorrow, We're so tired, and there's still a lot of things to do tomorrow so we need to rest" Hiccup said.

Astrid went to me and gave me a kiss in the cheek, "He's right Mom, we had a big day today.." Astrid said and I just nod.

"Ok...but do you guys remember that today.. More like yesterday was your daughter's 17th birthday" I said and they both looked at me...

"Umm.. No.. Ugh.. I don't know I'm going to bed" Hiccup Said and went upstairs. Astrid looked at me and frown..

"Astrid dear, you can't both kept doing this.. She always gets ignored by the two of you, you two don't have a little time to the girl." I said and Astrid sigh.

"I know, but I'm the General and her father is the chief.. Its our duty to protect our people" she said.

"I know, but your daughter.. She needs her parents" I said, "All this things were doing was for her mom.." She replied and was about to go upstairs but stopped when I spoke.

"I don't think so Astrid.. But I will remind you.. That if you guys kept doing these kinds of stuff.. You will regret it when the time comes.. Tell that to your husband as well" I said and she just nod and went upstairs..

-Time skips 1 year later-

Author's POV

"Okay riders.. Today's mission was to go to the Melody island. It turns out, a baby death song was found by the A team yesterday. I need Selena ingerma, Marklout(lol) Jorgensen.. The Thorston twins. And Erich son of eret" Sapphire announced and looked at her paper.

The riders nod and went to their dragons, "also I want this mission done before sun set, and After that you guys can have some 2 days day off" Sapphire said and they cheered.

"And as for the other riders, since There will be an upcoming festival in the berserker Island, Cheif Heather wants some help to setting up some decorations. So I'm counting on you guys" Sapphire also announced, "And after that you all will have a 2 days day off as well" She added and they flew away.

"Sapphire, we need to go to the laboratory now since we have a lot of things to do and also I discovered something that can help us to counter a slitherwing dragon" Philip said.

Phillips is the second son of Fishlegs ingerman.

"Okay. I'll be there in a minute"  Sapphire said.

Phillip nod and was about to leave when he saw the chief and General.

"Uh.. Umm.. Hello Chief and General.. Hehe.. Um sapphire I will go now see ya at the lab" Phillip quickly said and walked away.

Sapphire sigh that she didn't even notice her parents in there, "Sapphire? Honey" Astrid voiced called her and she looked up.

"oh Hey mom hey dad" she greeted plainly and went back on checking some works on her papers

"Sa..sapphire don't you remember something.. Like a special day.. Or something" Hiccup asked and both of them are hoping she would remember.

Sapphire thought for a moment and spoke, "Right the upcoming dragon racing is on 2 days I need to remind every single rider, Okay I need to go now thanks for reminding me" sapphire said and was about to leave but Hiccup stopped her.

"N-no not that.. Umm today is your 18 birthday.. Don't you remember.." Hiccup said and Sapphire looked away and nod.

"Your grandmother gave us a 1 week day off.. Maybe we could hang out and celebrate it.. Oh and looked, we have a gift-" Astrid didn't finished her sentence when Sapphire spoke.

"I don't care about my birthday.. If grandma gave you a day off then congratulations.. I still have things to do... And besides I don't have time to hangout" Sapphire said and went to her dragon and left.

The Haddock Couple was left speechless, they couldn't believe that they're daughter just Said that.

"Hiccup.. What's happening to our daughter.. She's.. She's not usually like that.." Astrid asked worriedly

Hiccup didn't know what to answer cause he couldn't believe they're daughter said that as well.

They got interrupt when Valka came out of nowhere.

"Well, I can see that Sapphire doesn't want to hangout" Valka and and they nod.

"Well I don't have any advice on how to get her back, and besides, don't you remember what I said a year ago. That there will be a time that you will regret not giving time to her" Valka said and both of them realized what she meant.
