Chapter Nine
The squad (except for Sero) rolled to town. We all decided to go to McDonald's.
We pulled up in the driveway, then Bakugo groaned. "We need Sero."
"Why?" Kaminari, Ashido, and I said in unison.
"Because, we have nobody to tie up our scooters and the sign clearly states that we can't bring them in." Bakugo pointed to a sign where there was a skateboard, bike, roller blade, and scooter silhouette with a huge red circle on it.
Kaminari face planted. "Dang it. We didn't think this clearly."
"I have an idea but it's risky," She looked at the ground and thought about the plan before nodding. "We can just fold them up and hide them behind our backs while we order then eat out here."
"Sure. I'll go through with it." Kaminari shrugged.
"I'm in." Bakugo smiled with a rebellious tint in his eyes. He looks so adorable
"What about you Kirishima?" Ashido's words took me out of my trance.
I looked at her. "I'm in."
She nodded and we folded up our scooters before trying to hide them behind our backs.
"Bakugou, can you order for us?" Ashido begged him.
"Tch, fine." I noticed that his eyes had a hint of mischief. This might go as well as Ashido wants.
"Hello, welcome to McDonald's, how may I help you?" The cashier asked.
"I'd like a twenty peice of chicken nuggets and, Alien Queen whaddia what?" Bakugou tossed his head back to face Ashido.
"A cheese burger." She piped up.
"I'll take a chicken sandwich." I said.
"I want a plain cheese burger." Kaminari put in.
"Plain? You're so boring Pikachu." Bakugou turned his head back to ths cashier. "We'll also take a normal cheese burger, a chicken sandwich, and a plain cheese burger."
"Alright, that'll be $4.16." The cashier said. (A.N- I wasn't sure what currency they use so I'm going to be using the U.S currency)
"Alright, all of you better be giving her your fair share. I'm not paying for you." Bakugou slammed his share onto the counter with one hand, still holding his scooter behind his back with his other hand.
We all pitched in and waited for our order. When it Finally came, Kaminari dropped his scooter.
"Hey! Those aren't allowed in here." The cashier pointed out.
"SCATTER!" Bakugou yelled before booking it out of the restaurant with our food. We unfolded our scooters as fast as we could and followed him.
We could hear an angry employee yelling at us. We were laughing our butts off. This trip was kind of a fail but we got food.
Once we were far enough, we stopped so Bakugou could set up his scooter instead of carrying it and we just strolled around.
"Now where do we go? I don't want to go to the dorms." Ashido quizzed.
"Well, we can go to that one Dairy Queen where you eat outside." I suggested.
"Alright, let's go fellas." Kaminari redirected us to towards the Dairy Queen. It was a small building that nobody but the employees were allowed to go inside. There were some picnic tables set up outside with a giant umbrella hovering over all of the tables that was attached to the roof of the building. (A.N- This is based off of a Dairy Queen I've been to)
We sat down at a table and started to feast on our food. We got weird looks from the other people but no questions. It was nice.
"-Is sphere itself." Ashido said. She was in the middle of a joke.
Kaminari and I laughed while Bakugou only tched.
"I can tell a better joke than that." Bakugou smiled and closed his eyes. He's so adorable.
"Okay then Smarty pants. Go ahead and tell us one." Ashido folded her arms and had a look on her face that said, "Try and beat me."
Bakugou smirked. "Alright then, wanna know why people say 'Go Break a leg' at plays?" We looked at each other then looked at Bakugou. He snickered. "Because every play has a cast."
We laughed too. "Alright, alright, I have to say that one was good, but not as good as my jokes. How do you tell if a Vampire is sick?" Ashido asked. We shrugged. "By how much he's coffin."
"Ha! I have way better ones still. But nice try Pinky." Bakugou patted Ashido on the head and she growled at him playfully.
"Hey, since we are all basically done, who wants to get icecream?" Kaminari asked.
"Me!" I yelled like a kid. Icecream is icecream, no matter how old you are.
I walked to the desk and asked for a Jurassic Chomp while Kaminari asked for an Oreo Blizzard. Later, Ashido got a chocolate icecream cone and Bakugou got the same thing as me. We sat and ate our icecream in peace. I sat next to Bakugou and Kaminari was on the other side with Ashido.
"Things would be better if Sero were here." Kaminari absent-mindedly said.
"Agreed." I nodded and Ashido did too.
Bakugou shrugged. "If Sero was here then we wouldn't be at Dairy Queen. We would've probably still be at McDonald's."
I blinked as I thought about it. "Huh, you're right."
"Of course I'm right Hair for Brains. I always am." Bakugou told me.
I just chuckled. "Sure you are blasty."
"What did you call me Spiky Hair?" He looked at me, fake anger in his eyes.
"I called you Blasty." I stared at him. We moved our faces close together. "And I can do it again."
We heard a gasp from Ashido. "More micknames."
Long story short, Bakugou accidentally knocked Ashido's hand and her chocolate icecream landed on Kaminari. It left a stain on his shirt.
"Awww fudge." Kaminari snickered.
"Was that a pun?!" Bakugou asked.
"Yep." Kaminari beamed.
"Sorry Kaminari, let's go to the dorms so you can change." Ashido told him.
"I'm not leaving." Bakugou propped his feet into the empty space on the other side of him.
"I don't want to leave. It'll be fine Ashido." Kaminari told her.
"We can always come back when you're done. I mean, the day is still young." She convinced him.
"I'll stay here with Bakugou." I pitched in. "We can wait for you guys here."
"Fine, we'll be right back. Bye guys." Kaminari grabbed his scooter and rode away with Ashido.
It was just Bakugou and I. I started to regret staying here. It getting a little awkward.
"So, what's been up with you lately?" Bakugou asked out of the blue.
"Huh?! What do you mean?" I was a little surprised.
"I mean, at first, Kaminari tried to to tell you to avoid me, then you kissed me at Ashido's sleepover last weekend, then you had to go to the hospital. Is there something going on?"
I wasn't prepared for this conversation. "Uhh, not really." I rubbed the back of my neck nervously.
"There has to be. I mean, you've been acting hot and cold lately. I like hanging out with you, don't get me wrong, but you're not acting like your usual self and you haven't been since that one school morning when you had to push Ashido out of the way to use her bathroom." He pointed out.
"Well..." I didn't know what to tell him. I didn't want to tell him about Hanahaki. I was determinded not to. "I'm sorry for acting strange lately. I'll try to fix it."
He grabbed my hands. "I wasn't asking you to fix it, although that would be cool too, I was telling you to tell me what's wrong." His gaze never wandered off of mine. His red eyes were intense and his voice was laced with consern. Was this what he was worried about?
"I can't tell you. Not yet anyways. I'll tell you someday."
"But when? Is it all related to the hospital somehow?" He quizzed.
"Bakugou. I'll tell you, just not here. There are people who can listen." I thought up of an excuse.
"So you'll tell me when we get back to the dorms? You can explain it in your dorm if it'll make you more comfortable. I'm just-" He exhaled sharply and took his hands back.
I tilted my head. "Just what?"
"I'm worried about you, okay? You're the one who I tolerate the most in this world and now you've been acting strangly. Your mom says it's because you like me romantically bu-"
"My mom said what now?!" I started to panic more. How'd she know?! Have I been that obvious? If she didn't say anything, would he be asking these questions right now?
"She told me that you have a crush on me." He looked surprised. "Was she wrong?" There was something in his eyes that made me want to hug him. So I did.
"Bakugou," I wrapped my arms around him tightly. "Everything will be fine. I'm just figuring things out." I changed it back to the old subject. I didn't want this to be the way of how I told him.
"Look dude, if you're gay that's fine. I lik-"
I quickly interupted him in case the subject went deeper down that path. "I don't mean that. I'm talking about the old topic." I chuckled.
"Well, you could've warned me." There was disappointment in his voice and I could feel his face heat up on my shoulder.
I pulled back. "Bakugou?" His face was red.
"I'm fine." He looked away. "Just, don't bring this conversation up again." He tried to continue his icecream.
"But-"
"Kirishima, don't." He stared straight ahead. His face was in it's normal resting anger position but his voice was coated with hurt.
I decided to leave it. I didn't want to pressure him to say anything that he didn't want to. But no matter how much I tried to stop thinking about him, Bakugou would appear in my mind. I couldn't helo but side-glance at him.
His expression was unreadable and he looked like he was staring somewhere far away. "Bakugou?"
"I said no Spiky Hair. Just drop it, alright? I'm sorry for pressing you for answers." He never turned his head and he wouldn't look at me.
"I know that I haven't been my usual self-" I started.
"Ya think?" He side-glanced at me and I fully turned my head to face him.
I chuckled. "Yeah. I just wanted to say sorry about it. It isn't manly of me to keep doing that to you."
He just nodded. "Yeah." His voice sounded like it was far away, like he wasn't talking to me. At least he isn't mad.
"Uhh, Bakugou?" I tilted my head and started to poke his cheek with the end of my spoon.
"Hm?" He finally looked at me, like he broke from his trance.
"Dude, now you're the one acting strange."
"I was just realizing something." He told me.
"What were you realizing?"
"I won't tell you until later." He flashed me a small smile.
Oh my gosh, he's so adorable. I smiled back. Then I started coughing. Why now?
"Are you okay?" Bakugou asked.
I couldn't answer. My throat was being clogged up and I knew what it was from. I looked around for somewhere where I could go to lock myself away so he wouldn't see me like this.
But he was. He was just standing there, watching me cough on freaking flower petals.
I stood up and just ran. I left Bakugou and my scooter behind. I was still coughing. I felt my body start to shake and become weaker with every painful cough. I started to feel light headed. I'm going to die if I can't cough this up! I looked behind me and I saw Bakugou running towards me. I tried to run faster, but my energy was draining. I'm doing to die from flowers. I felt my knees buckle. I expected for my body to meet with the cement but, I never felt it. I ooened my eyes and I saw Bakugou caught me.
"We need to call an ambulance." He told me. He jogged back to the table and started to dial the numbers. Here it comes... I let out one final cough and finally, rose petals started to spill from my mouth. There were at least around ten to fifteen petals. Bakugou just stared at me, his mouth opened wide like he couldn't believe what he saw.
"Surprise." I smiled awkwardly.
