I was with Matt and Taylor hanging out when Taylor got a call. "It's Shawn," he said after a second. "He wants to hang out?"
"Sure," Matt said, nodding. "Where to?"
Taylor and Shawn were talking when I looked over at Matt. "Shawn?" I asked.
Matt's eye went wide. "Right! You haven't met him yet! You'll like him, don't worry. Come on, let's go."
I nodded and we all got in the car and headed somewhere for lunch. As we got there and parked, Taylor and Matt began looking for Shawn. "He's with Cameron too," Taylor told us. "And I invited Aaron too because it's been a while since we all hung out." Matt nodded.
We headed inside and all the boys seemed to find each other all at once. I saw familiar faces. Matt and Taylor, obviously. Cam. I didn't know who Aaron and Shawn were, but there was a boy with light brown hair and a boy with really really dark hair, almost black. I waved awkwardly as one came up to me. "Hi."
"Hey! Im Aaron. I've heard a lot about you over the years. Taylor is proud of his little sister growing on YouTube."
I smiled, blushing. "You don't brag about me, do you Taylor?" I whined.
He smiled innocently. "Of course I do."
Trying not to grin, I shook my head. "Whatever."
I saw someone walk up to me in my side vision and I looked over to see the other boy. He must be Shawn. "I'm-" he began.
"Shawn. Yeah. Nice to meet you." I offered my hand and he took it.
"You know me?" He asked, his grin wide and an eyebrow raised in a definitely flirty sort of way.
Shrugging, I chuckled. "Sort of. I've heard a lot about you and my friends talk about you. You sing, right?" He nodded. "That's cool. So do I." I shook my head. "But back to the point. Aaron and you were the only people I didn't know here so when I learned that he was Aaron, that only left you to be... Shawn..." Out of subconscious habit, I fiddled with my glasses. Every time I explained things I tended to talk faster and sound really smart even if it was something very simple and straightforward. The boys exchanged looks and I simply shook my head, looking away bash fully. "Never mind."
Why did everyone get so intimidated by how supposedly smart I sounded? It was just plain black and white logic, nothing overly difficult. I swear they were intimidated by a breeze blowing a little too hard sometimes...
We sat down and everyone ordered. I found myself in the corner as the boys laughed loudly and joked, all of them at ease while I hid, being awkward. I really only knew Taylor well as he was my brother. Matt had just become my friend and I'd met Cam one other time. I didn't know these people very well... In situations like this, with all of them so open and being thoughtlessly themselves, I tended to sit back and people watch. With my brother and his friends, I would like to talk, I really would. But what to talk about? Nothing. So I watched instead.
Cameron suddenly spoke up and I saw my chance. He was sharing a memory about Shawn. "You looked like big foot in your sandals thirty sizes too big. And they fit you!"
"So he has big feet," I spoke up, catching everyone's attention. I smirked, loving that they were all suddenly focused on me. "You know what they say about big feet." I winked at Shawn and the boys all laughed as Cam's eyes went wide. Leaning forward, I smirked. "If you want to hear something really funny you should have seen Taylor when we were about seven. We went on a trip and he freaked out because there was a chocolate on the pillow of the hotel we stayed in. He ate it... Only to realize it wasn't chocolate." My nose scrunched as I grinned.
Taylor groaned. "I was seven!"
My hands went up. "It didn't even have a wrapper!" I argued.
"So you've never done something silly when you were young?" Shawn suddenly challenged.
I looked him straight in the eyes. "I wasn't an idiot. Maybe when I was in diapers, but older than? No. Why, Shawn? Did you poop your pants when you were younger? You know, last week or something?" The boys all oohed and Shawn rolled his eyes, enjoying my challenging quips.
"Funny you should say that. That you've never done anything. Because I believe that when you went cliff jumping this summer, just two weeks ago, your whole bathing suit came off because you didn't tie it tight enough. Taylor told me that himself."
I struggled to keep my cool. "You seem to know a lot about me for someone I just met," I managed to point out silkily.
Shawn leaned forward, elbows on the table as he shrugged, smiling. "Taylor does talk about you quite a lot."
Our eyes were locked and neither of us were blinking, let alone registering a world outside of the two of us. "And you pay attention?" I asked.
Blush tickled across his cheeks and I smirked in triumph. Not that I wasn't blushing. "It's interesting," was all he said.
My smile turned to a smirk as I raised an eyebrow. "You mean I'm interesting."
There was a brief pause as we simply stared at each other. I rose my other eyebrow and he jerked his head as if to ask, what? "I'm not disagreeing, if that's what you're waiting for." Oh. Oh goodness it was suddenly hey hot in this room, wasn't it?
We sat there, dead quiet, Shawn and I having leaned forward significantly, now staring at each other intensely while the boys looked back and forth between us. Smiles tickled our lips and amusement light up our eyes. This was fun. "Here's your food." We snapped out of our trance as the waitress brought us our food and then we began eating. The rest of the meal Shawn and I stole glances at each other, often catching each other when we did.
This could be the start of a very fun relationship.

Shawn and I were going on a date today. I couldn't help but smile at that thought. It was a group date where Aaron, Cam, and Taylor were coming and bringing dates as well, but it was a date nonetheless.
I couldn't help the urge to dress up. I wore a skirt that was navy blue and a matching tank top under a knitted, white sweater. I twisted my hair up into a messy bun and wore white earrings. I put light make up on and wore my brown ankle boots. I could only hope I looked as good as I wanted because I never looked good to myself, but that's just because I was far too critical. Perhaps he would disagree with me. He was the goal in my aim to impress anyway.
Settling on simply being satisfied enough, I came out of my room to Taylor who was sitting on the couch, waiting for me. He was in a white shirt and jeans but it was all new and crisp, so it looked really nice. When he saw me his eyes went wide and his eyebrows rose. "When did my dorky little sister become my really hot little sister?" He asked jokingly, standing to meet me as I approached.
Bashfully I blushed, smiling. "Thanks, Taylor." Just then we heard a car horn.
He smiled, as if proud, then offered me his arm. "Come on." I chuckled and took it and we made our way outside. I saw the car we were headed to and I saw Shawn pop out of it, moving to open my door for me. His head was down as he was busy with tying his tie. I came up to him and moved his hands out of the way, tying it for him as he seemed to be struggling. He looked up and froze.
When I finished I looked up too, only to realize how close we were. I blushed again and he cleared his throat. "Ladies first," he managed, waving me into the car. I slipped in, Taylor on one side and then Shawn on the other as he slipped in next to me.
The car ride was silent, Cam and his date in the front seat. Taylor was supposed to meet his date at the restaurant since she had work and had to rush over, being a tad late. Aaron was driving in a separate car with his date.
When the car parked, Shawn slipped out quickly and offered me a hand to help me out. I looked at Taylor (who looked at Shawn, nodding in approval) with an impresses expression then took Shawn's hand. He closed the door as Taylor got out the other side and then offered me his arm. I laughed and looped my hand softly around the inside of his elbow and we began walking inside.
"No fair," Cam jokingly complained. "You're making me look bad, Mendes."
Shawn and I laughed and Cam's date rolled her eyes. "If I was here for a mature gentlemen, I wouldn't be here with you," she teased. He played faked offended and she giggled, kissing him on the cheek. "You're doing fine, babe."
I smiled at the exchange, small but sweet. I wanted that some day. "You coming, Mads?" Shawn asked. I shook out of my daydreaming and rushed to cover up my daze. I smiled and nodded. Shawn looked back at Cam and then at me. He seemed to realize immediately what I was thinking even though I tried to cover it up. "Next date," he assured. "Next time."
"There's going to be a next time?" I asked softly, raising an eyebrow. Hope boiled in my stomach and I was filled to the brim with feelings that twisted all my insides and made me want to touch him more.
He leaned over and kissed my cheek. I blushed horribly. "Definitely."
I looked down at my feet as we walked inside.
I'm glad to say, there were indeed many dates after that.

I sat backstage at one of Shawn's concerts as it came to an end. "For my last song, I would like my girlfriend to come on stage. Come here, Maddie." He smiled at me, beaming and I looked at him with wide eyes. He nodded encouragingly and I stepped out on stage. The roar of the audience made me surge with energy and I smiled so widely it hurt. Someone brought an extra stool and I sat next to Shawn, looking at him, wondering what he was up to. "This is the last time I'll get to show you off before I leave for a while, so I thought I'd make it special." He winked, making me laugh. He started singing. All I could do was smile and watch him as he sang, looking at me every so often with such passion that I shivered.
When he was done the crowd roared.

"So what are you guys doing about Shawn leaving on tour for so long?" My mom asked. Shawn was laying on the couch with me on top of him, my legs between his, my head on his chest. Our fingers played with each other's, each hand fiddling. My right hand played with his fingers and his left the played with mine.
Frowning, I sighed. "I don't know. I don't want to stay here. I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I don't want to be away from you that long. That's a really long time... Maybe I could... I don't know! I have YouTube and my own career. What will happen if I'm gone? I'll have to stop and then my fans will be irritated and-"
My rambling was cut off by feeling Shawn's free hand on my back, drawing shapes. "I'm not going to stop," Shawn mumbled, his left hand now going up and down my arm. "Why should you?"
"Well-" I cut off, looking up at him. "You'll have time?"
He nodded mindlessly, eyes on my hand as he played with it. "Of course. I can vine at any second and I rarely tweet anyway." He laughed. "I'll have fans recording me and I'll be writing as I go like I always do. And if you went with me then-"
It sounded so planned and set in his mind that I was caught off guard. "How'd you even know I wanted to go with you?" I asked, eyes widening in awe.
"Because it's the only thing that's logical," he joked. That was something I said a lot. "I'm not going to be away for you that long. I've already got it sorted. You're coming."
Surprise at him, I moved, staring at him with even wider eyes and an open mouth. "No way! Why didn't you tell me?"
He grinned up at me. "Because I didn't want to rush you into a decision. I know how much you hate when I do that. You needed to come to the conclusion by yourself and then I could tell you." He shrugged, playing casual.
My eyebrows rose and I smirked. "Got me all figured out, Mendes?"
He shook his head, hands moving up and down my arms gently. "Not all figured out. But I'm working on it."
I laughed and kissed him. "NO PDA!" My mom complained.
"It's not PDA. We're not in public," I argued, barely separating from Shawn to do so.
My mom groaned. "I'm the public and you're displaying affection in front of me!" She yelled playfully, hands in the air and racing out of the room. I laughed and Shawn kissed me again, pulling me to him intensely. I was more than ready for this trip with him. It was going to be amazing.
