Fandom: Death note

"Isn't this exciting? We are on our way to japan!!!" I squealed. "Even better!!! The world's greatest detective needs a little help from the world's 3rd's best detective, which is YOU Ashley, and you're only like twelve!"

"Kate! Keep it down you're going to make people's attention towards us!" Ashley whispered-yelled.

"But aren't you excited about this, too"

"Yes I am sooo excited,"She said in a monotone voice. "Just stop standing on the seat, we are in a airplane for crying out loud!"

"Sorry," I mumbled.

I sat down, as other passengers in the plane looked at me as if I had two heads. You know... I couldn't see why we took a public airplane instead of a private one, we had enough money to purchase one after all. But Ash insisted that we should use the money for more important things, a private jet wasn't in the list, although she did agree that it would be nice to have some silence in a plane.

I felt the plane safetly land on the ground and slowly came to a stop. The passengers began to exit the plane with their bags on their hands, while Ash and I stayed in our seats until everyone was out, not in sight.

A few minutes passed by, and as soon as made sure no one was in the plane, we grabbed our bags and started to walk out the plane, but then started to run towards the front of the airport.

"Hurry up, we don't won't our ride to keep waiting,"Ashley yelled to my ear.

The airport was crowded with a lot people...well I suppose its normal since we're in japan... but it was so loud in here. We then stopped running once we were outside, and in front of us was a black limousine with a butler standing next to the door, I felt speechless. Ashley nudged my arm, signaling to go inside the vehicle, she then started to shake hands with the butler.

"Nice to see you again, Watari," Ashley smiled.

He smiled back. "Its nice to see you too."

Watari's head turned to my direction, giving me a suspicious look.

"A friend of yours?"

She nodded. "Sister actually, she could be useful though , besides I might need a second opinion about the facts and theories for this case. She's also a good assistant." 

"Very well then."

Ashley entered the vehicle, while I reached my hand out to Watari, waiting for him to shake it. He started to hesitate for a bit, but shook it anyway.

"I'm Kate. Kate Blu :)"

"Nice to meet you, also I suggest you don't say or show you whole name in public. Kira is still on the loose."

"So I've heard."

The case that we were investigating was...different. Over 10,000 deaths were claimed over a month, and the victims were all cops and criminals. The police department suspect that one person was doing all of this. There was no evidence that there was group killing these people. It was odd to me that one person could create such panic and chaos, I then wondered, how did he do it, how is he not caught yet...

I entered the limousine and sat next to Ashley. Watari closed the door and began to walk in to the driver's seat and drove off from their airport and to police headquarters. We were all quiet along the way, I felt uncomfortable, the silence was slowly killing me but Ashley seemed to enjoy it. I always gave her a rough time due to my childish personality, but tried to manage through it. She is oddly mature for her age, but I didn't have any problems with that, although I've always felt like she was a tired mother while I'm her annoying child.

I giggled.

And here I am being twenty-two years old while I have a mind of a seven year- old.

(An Hour Later)

We came to a stop in front of a tall building. Watari exited the vehicle while Ashley and I did the same. But then he told me that I had to be blind-folded in order to enter the building, since they don't know a lot about me, I could've been a person that's collecting information for Kira. Watari pulled out white handkerchief, placing the soft fabric around my eyes, and then tied it at the back of my head. Ashley grabbed my wrist and guided me inside the building, we then started to go inside the elevator and felt it going up.

A few minutes of silence started to kick in, I wanted to tell a pun or at least start a conversation but felt that it was probably not the right time. I didn't wanted to become a burden to anyone, even if it means to act like an adult for once. My palms started to sweat, I'm nervous about this case, we have to risk our lives in order to capture whoever was Kira. But honestly, I wasn't ready to know that Ashley could die in any second, we don't know if he knows that we are here, in japan, and he might have her name.

The elevator came to a stop and automatically opened its doors. Ashley started to drag me as I tried to sense where I was. I heard two doors open, is this where we are supposed to be? She continued to drag me inside the room as Watari was following behind us, closing the doors behind him. Ashley started to push me into a empty room and locked the door.

What now?...

I tried to navigate my way through my hands, I could feel a chair, so I started to sit down. Then I felt table, I rest my hands on top of it. I didn't understand why I was here alone, maybe I was... Was...put into questioning, it makes sense now.

I heard the doorknob twist and the door opening, as for the footsteps, he sound like he was sitting from the other side of the table. I can hear papers being shuffled around and being neatly placed into a pile.

"What is your name?"

I began to become cautious, so i stayed silent.

"Don't worry, Im just asking questions. L wants to know if he can trust you or not."

His voice sounded childish. It made feel more comfortable.

"I'm Kate Blu."

"Where were you born?"

"Somewhere in America."

"What do you know about the Kira case?" His voice cracked.

I held in my laugh.

"Why are you laughing?😣"

"Your voice just cracked, it was pretty loud and high too." I laughed.

He huffed.

"Im sorry though."

"Back to the case, how much do you know about it?"

"Well Kira killed over 10,000 people, crime in japan is now in a low rate, which is the only good in this situation, however Kira is still at large and active, killing those who did wrong things, as if he was some sort of god, but a human can never be a god. So. I guess I only know the basics."

"Okay, Do you know who L is?"

"Well, He's the world's greatest detective, he cracked multiple difficult cases, I'm a fan of his work! But I don't know what he looks like, if that's what you were asking."

"Would you risk you life for this case?"

"....Im actually...undecided...But it depends on how severe the situation is," I scratched my neck.

"Will you be able to follow orders?"

I nodded my head.

"Are you able to makes cakes?"

"Wait...what?!"

"L gave me a list of questions I have to ask you, I'm just as confused as you are."

"Hmm...well..."

Flashback
"KATE WHAT DID YOU DO!!!!" Ashley yelled as she ran to every room to find the fire extinguisher.

"I TRIED TO START BAKING SOME CUPCAKES SO WE CAN CELEBRATE GOING TO JAPAN!!!! I panicked. "I BARELY MADE THE BATTER!!!

Ashley ran to the kitchen with the fire extinguisher in her hand but stopped at her tracks in shock.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING???!!!"

"Throwing water in the fire, obviously."

"THATS OIL, GODAMMIT!!!"

I looked back at the product in my hand and then to the fire. The fire then started to spread to the explosive products in the kitchen.

Ashley gripped her hair in frustration.

"Oh sh-"

*BOOM*

"Hmm...I never tried to bake a cake before...sooo we'll see." I smiled.

"Do you have a family?"

I stayed silent for a few seconds but spoke.

"Ashley and I haven't contacted my parents for over three years, we don't really know if they're dead or alive but I guess Ashley is the only family I have." I said as I played with my thumbs.

"Last one, Will you be able to handle the pressure for this case?"

I smiled and nodded.

"Okay, you are free to go...OH! And you can take off the blindfold."

I took off the blindfold and saw the detective writing some stuff down. He looked a little bit young but eh...who cares. He stood up from his seat as I did the same. Then he took out his hand, waiting for me to shake it.

"I'm Matsuda."

I shook his hand.

"Nice to meet ya."

We both walked outside of the room but went to our own separate ways. I spotted Ashley on the monitors, she was watching 3 persons sitting on a couch, just chatting. It seemed fine at first but when I looked are it at the second time, I noticed that 2 guys were chained together by their wrists. While the girl on the opposite side on where she was seating seemed to have no chains on her. Hmmm what am I missing.
