"Cherry blossoms!" Kate pointed out as she jumped up and down. The petals slowly danced around the wind as they come closer towards the ground. One by one, they all had a different dance routine. Her dad chuckled as she tried to catch all the petals before they flied out of her grasp. He ruffled her hair, this made Kate smile.
"That's right short stack." She looked up at him suprised and crossed her arms, pouting. He placed the basket full of food near the tree.
"I'm not that short, old man." He raised a brow, and smiled, shaking his head. "I'm not that old." Kate giggled as she pointed the strand of white hair that was hanging near his face. "Then what's that! Only old people have white hair, dad!" He slumped his shoulders. "I was born with it ╥﹏╥"
They both sat down on the grass, as he started hand Kate a sandwich, she didn't waste no time to take the first bite. Her dark blue eyes glistened as the flavor of the sandwich satisfied her taste buds.
"Daddy! This taste sooooo good! I didn't know you can cook!"
He laughed. "I dont."
Kate reached for the basket, grabbing another sandwich, and placed it close to his face. He looked down at her daughter suprised by her sudden actions.
"Take a bite! You have to know how good your food taste like!"
He smiled as he started to take bite of his sandwich, but then a red ball suddenly hit him at the back of his head, making him bite his tounge. Her dad covered his mouth, his blue eyes wide open, while the pain from his tongue gave him goosebumps. Kate gasped, as she reached her small hands towards her father's wrists.
"Dad! Are you okay!"
He gave a nervous smile, as his eyes squinted and nodded. The ball rolled over next to Kate, she looked at it amused by the bright color. Small footsteps started to come closer as they shuffled the grass around them. Her dad looked towards the direction on where it was coming from, which his eyes landed on a small girl. The rays of the sun reflected off of her white hair, as her baby blue eyes looked at the two of them. Kate looked over to her father, giving him a nervous look, as she looked back at the girl again. The girl looked behind Kate, revealing to be her ball. She pointed at it.
"Ashley want ball back."
Kate looked over at her father, he responded with a nod, as she gave Ashley back her ball. She smiled at her, but didn't return any emotion back.
"Ashley thanks you."
"No problemo :D"
Then we heard footsteps behind Ashley but this time, it sounded like they were running. It soon stopped behind her. A woman with long white hair scolded at Ashley for leaving her out of her sight, holding her hand. She looked up to the two who were looking at her confused. She bowed down, looking down at the grass.
"I apologize if my child has caused you any trouble."
Kate's dad raised his brows, scratching his neck.
"Dont worry about it, she didn't."
Kate looked up at his dad confused. "But she-" He covered her mouth before she could say anything else, giving the woman a smile. She responded with a small smile, sighing in relief. Ashley squinted her eyes at Kate's dad, trying to give him a death glare. "I should make it up to you for disturbing your time with your daughter." He nervously smiled as he waved his hand. "No need, I forgive you." The woman nodded. "Very well, I hope you two have a nice picnic." She turned her heel to leave as Ashley followed. The girl looked back at Kate, as she gave her friendly wave, but Ashley turned her head forward.
Her dad kept watching her as she walked away, holding her daughter's hand. Kate looked back at him, waving his hand in front of his face, making him snap back to reality. She tilted her head.
"Daddy? Do you like her?"
"Kate, we just met..."
"Do ya?" She poked his arm repeatedly.
His ears flush a tint of red. "Kate..."
"Do you?"
"Short stack...stop."
She gave him a wide smile, as his dad attempts to stay in his serious look, trying his best not to smile. The corners of his mouth slowly start to rise, but he quickly forces them down into a fake frown.
"YOU DO LOVE HER! YOU'RE IN LOVE WITH THE OLD LADY!!!"
"Kate, I will return your bird back to the pet store."
She gasped. "NO! NOT ROBIN! OKAY! Okay! I'll stop..."
Her dad smiled in victory, until Kate started to run.
"I'll stop after I'll tell her!"
"WAIT! WHAT!? NO! STOP RIGHT NOW YOUNG LADY!!"
Kate smiled as the memory came into a close. She sat at the same tree her dad would used to hang out in with Kate, every Saturday. He didn't really have time to spend time with Kate everyday, since he was always busy with his work as a mechanic. But they somehow managed to have a close Father-and-daughter relationship. If he didnt have a day off on that day, they both probably wouldn't met Ashley and her mom. But who knows....
Footsteps started to approach behind her, but soon stopped. Hitoshi tapped on her shoulder, making Kate look back at him. He leaned on the trunk of the tree.
"You ready?"
"No...maybe....I-I dont know?" She fiddled with her fingers.
"Hm, glad we're on the same page. C'mon...let's meet your parents....
Ashley jumped down from the tree, suprising both of them. "Just to let you know, I'm pretty sure our mom is gonna hate you." He raised a brow.
"How long were you up there?"
She checked her watch and looked back at him. "Ten minutes and thirty two seconds."
Then a branch snapped, leaving Sero to fall flat on his face.
"For Sero, ten minutes and thirty nine seconds."
Hitoshi looked up at the branches of the tree. "What the hell..."
