A load of sweetness Part 1

(Great series by the way ^)
(Ashley's 's POV )
The sun was in full bloom, blinding me as I tried to look for a for a crooked fork in the road ahead. I never knew being in a road trip could be so boring, To make things worse, the air was hot and blistery, burning our cheeks as we drove on.
We drove like that for a few more miles, everyone keeping their thoughts to theirselves, when suddenly I smelled something humid and foul. Actually, I tasted it before I smelled it. But then I saw it: the white smoke puffed out of the vents on the dashboard, penetrating my lungs and causing me to cough uncontrollably.
"What the hell-icopter is going on? " Kate said as she sat forward in her seat and stuck her face out the window to get a better look.
I could barely see the side of the road and nothing ahead. My first reaction was to press down on the brake with all of my weight. The car screeched to a stop on the side of the road, and I flipped the gearshift into park. But even without raising the hood of the car, I knew what was wrong. When water started pouring from the front onto the pavement, creating a buzzing puddle inches away from our feet, I knew we were doomed. I'd seen this happen to Sam before since he didn't know how to take care of a car. The radiator was busted.
"What do we do now?" Sam asked. He was standing next to me while the others stood back behind me, fanning the smoky steam out of their eyes.
(Grian's POV)
I looked at the mileage gauge.
"We walk," I said, while fanning the smoke away from my eyes. " Because this piece of junk isn't going anywhere without a mechanic."
"Walk where?" Ashley wanted to know.
"We are in the middle of nowhere," Kate finished her thought.
I looked around and saw nothing. There were no houses, no animals, and no major roads. How strange. Stretched before us in every direction, there were only miles of mesquite and huisache trees and tall brown grasses too dry and thin to feed animals. If we turned around now, it would take us more than a half a day to walk beyond to the nearest city and up to highway 57 on foot, but that's where the nearest Gas Station was. I didn't even know if the Gas Station had a tow truck, though we could use the phone there. It was better to just keep moving forward, since by my calculations, we were closer to the nearest city. The sun is going to be hard on us, especially without water to fight off the searing heat that was already burning through my clothes. Taurtis should've buyed water instead of soda at the store before setting out this morning.
"Start walking," I said. " Take whatever you need out of the car and let's get a move on. There's no use standing around here. We have a long way to go before we reach the nearest Gas Station or town."
With our backpacks and few provisions we still had in the car, started down to head east. We left our blankets behind because we didn't want to exhaust ourselves with too much to carry.
The morning sun grew hotter by the minute, and we were sweating severely within half a hour. Several times along the way, Sam whines that he was either tired or thirsty and we had to stop and sit on the side of the road under a mesquite or a huisache tree, trying to make the trek without succumbing to heat exhaustion.
(Kate POV)
Two and half hours later, we were huddled together on the side of the road, shoulder to shoulder under the full shade of a large cluster of scraggly trees, it was pretty awkward moment for a few minutes, until we heard a sweet and melodic voice coming from the brush behind us.
"Stranger danger," I whispered to Ashley. She rolled her eyes.
The melodic voice sang of flowers and gardens and sweet, sweet nectar oozing from every petal and leaf.
"That voice..... It sounds familiar" Sam said turning to look at me.
My heart quickened. Could it be.... Yuki? Maybe...
I scrambled to my feet and stood listening for a moment. The voice it sounded soft and innocent. She sounded nothing like Yuki. Thank goodness for that.
"We should be careful," I said pulling out a yo-yo out of my pocket, using it for self defense.
"Hello! " Taurtis hollered into the dense thicket. He squeezed between the trunks of two mesquite trees in an attempt to avoid going around.
"Hello!" Sam chimed in, louder and more desperately than Taurtis. He had been complaining about being dehydrated for at least an hour and human life meant the possibility of water.
"Who are you? Who's there? Who's singing ?" Ashley hollered in the general direction of the voice.
"What are you guys doing here?" The stranger's voice asked from somewhere behind the brush. The stranger was a lady. She wore a bright yellow dress, she had green skin, and red ruby hair.
"Well my car broke down,"Ashley said as she was getting closer." Can you tell us how far is the next town,Sookie?"
Immediately, Sookie began doting on us, like a tiny yellow butterfly, fluttering about. Her words flittered up and town and all around us as she fretted, taking our reddened faces in her hands and looking into our eyes, inspecting each of us in turn of signs of heat stroke."All of you look dreadful, you must be absolutely parched, melting away in this heat."
"No s##t, Sherlock," Ash said sarcastically.
"We need to get to the gas station as soon as possible," Grian said when he pulled out a handkerchief and took off my mask to clean some dirt particles that stuck in my cheeks due to sweating a lot. The weird thing is that he did it in a motherly manner. "Can you give us a ride?"
"I wish I could,"Sookie said, " But i dont have a car. You must be parched right now; you look like wilting flowers. You need something to drink. Come with me.
"Finally!" Sam said while throwing his arms to the air.
So we went inside her house, but I had a feeling that this isn't a good idea.
