A Light in the Darkness

A/N: This chapter is much more laid back than the rest. Enjoy a death free chapter! :)

The drip from the faucet could be heard.

Rebecca rubbed her exhausted face with some water before looking up at herself.

She had felt awful since the events had happened.

She had been so stressed during the scramble to get here, she had lost a hold on Telum, and he ran and hid into the shadows.

She prayed that they were safe.

She had tried to leave to get him back, however other OCs refused to let her leave for him.

It had only been 4 hours since the attack, the house had been somewhat silent.

Rebecca was still lost in thought.

She knew that Telum had the ability to hide and travel in shadows, however, it was impossible to get where they were hiding since the backrooms were so lit up, no shadows, not even other peoples shadows could even be seen.

She knew he could probably take care of himself, however that didn't make her any less paranoid.

There was a knock on the door and Rebecca jumped.

“Inky, are you okay?” Called out a familiar voice.

She smiled and opened the door to reveal Curly.

Even though she may have lost Telum, Curly was still by her side, and she was going to make sure she did everything she could to keep him safe.

“I'm doing fine,” She said, giving him a tired smile. “Just thinking..”

Curly frowned and crossed his arms, “Well don't think too hard. I know you personally aren't known for being well when you are left alone with your thoughts…”

Her mind drifted back to the night of the car crash.

“Haha… Right. I am doing okay though, promise.”

She gave him a small smile and he eyed her to make sure she wasn't lying.

“Okay then…. Anyways, I am feeling really hungry, do you know the next time we are going to be able to eat….?”

She felt concerned, it seemed like he had a bigger appetite than he had before.

She shook my head, “Sorry, Curly, not sure there is anything filling here. I mean, there is canned fruit, if you really want?”

He slightly gagged, “No thanks, I don't think I am that hungry…”

He seemed disappointed, but there really wasn't a lot of food here.

Usually Linxer would be able to help, or even Narrator, but neither of them seemed to be at the safe room.

Curly stared at me with a weird glance.

“Is there something wrong?”

“Huh? What? Um.. No, I am okay…” It seemed like he was in a trance.

“Okay then…” Rebecca's concerns grew, but she felt like needed to get her mind off of things.

She walked ahead, Curly tailing behind her as she headed to go see other OCs and how they were doing.

As she entered the main room of the safe room, it seemed like OCs seemed just as on edge as she did.

There were some chatting with each other, some staying on their phone, probably texting Felicity or someone else, and some who were by themselves staying quiet.

Rebecca noticed Curly fidgeting. She knew something was wrong, but he wouldn't tell her.

The door from the exit finally opened, Benefit walked in, he seemed spooked.

“I was scared I got lost… Glad I finally found everyone…” He said, relief in his voice.

His look seemed different, but it was obvious it was still him.

OCs seemed excited to see him.

Isacc ran up and hugged him as other OCs got up to ask him what had happened.

As she listened in, the more scared she got. Curly hugged her leg as he continued.

Hearing Benefit's story, it made sense why others wouldnt let her leave.

She eyed the door, it was unguarded due to Benefit's arrival, if she wanted to find Telum, now would be the time to do so.

As others tried to gain information from Benefit, Rebecca made her way to leave.

Noticing this, Curly followed.

“Where are you going?” He asked quietly.

“I need to find Telum, I just have this awful feeling that we lost him. He is probably really scared. He isn't trained like we are when it comes to statics.”

As Rebecca explained, Curly looked down at his feet.

“If you would let me, I would like to come as well. An extra set of eyes never does anyone wrong.”

Rebecca shrugged.

“Your choice, I will be going to find him though.”

He smiled and nodded and tagged along as they both walked into the light of the backrooms, closing the door behind them.

Curly seemed to be less fidgety as they walked.

“It would probably be best if we just tried to find anywhere that has shadows. He will hopefully find us quickly if we tried to find him that way…”

Rebecca nodded in agreement.

“The hard part is just making sure we don't get trapped or cornered. This place was made to be built like the tunnels in the SETs, so it would be better to know the directions to places if we happened to get chased.”

Curly stayed quiet.

As the two walked, they finally reached the stage to find that one of the traps had gone off and the floor under the stage now led to the other level of the backrooms, which as far as they knew, there was no way up from if you fell.

Thankfully, there were shadows that could be seen here, Rebecca tried to look out and see if she could spot any signs of Telum.

“Telum? Are you here?” She called out in a whisper.

However she found no one answered.

Rebecca huffed looking around more.

“Telum, please come out, lets get you to safety.”

They suddenly saw Telum, running across the stage, he was holding a flashlight and shining it, it seemed like he was waving and trying to tell the two something.

Rebecca looked at Curly before looking back at Telum.

“What's wrong?”

Just as soon as she asked, Curly gasped as he was dragged into the shadows and disappeared.

Rebecca's eyes widened as she felt herself get grabbed as well, but Telum shined the light on her judt in time.

A tall static hissed before running away in the shadows.

Freezing in place, Rebecca stared at Telum who was standing in the light of the stage and still shining the light on her.

The sight of Curly getting dragged away when he was right next to her… How….

Telum seemed just as scared as she did. He looked around the dark room around them.

The only path he could use to get to her was already gone because the trap had already gone off.

Neither of them knew what to do.

They could hear the shadowy static circling them, chuckling as it watched them.

Rebecca took a step back into the light of the backrooms, she wasn't sure how to help Telum… or what happened to Curly.

She felt her heart racing, and her breath quickening.

Her mind felt scattered, she took another step back.

Telum looked at her scared when suddenly swift steps could be heard nearby.

A flash of light filled the room and a hooded figure ran to them.

The static hissed and ran away.

“You two okay?” The figure revealed itself to be Narrator as she took off her hood. She had a concerned look on her face as she held a magic ball of light in her hand.
