Buzz Aldrin is born the 20th January 1930. His original name was Edwin Eugene Aldrin Jr. His parents are Edwin Eugene Aldrin and Marion Aldrin. Buzz Aldrin has two older sisters.

One of his sisters nicknamed him Buzzer,this is why his name is now Buzz Aldrin.

He was brilliant at school and entered West Point, the most prestigious university for military. Aldrin chose to be part of the United States Air Force.

He was one of the best pilots, he achieved two aerial victories. He pursued a doctorate and at the end of it, the NASA recruited him.

Aldrin was selected for Gemini 12. NASA changed the training program, so Aldrin trained underwater to be used to low gravity, in order to be able to stay outside of the spaceship. The objective of Gemini 12 was to join two space engines and to stay out of the spaceship. Because there was a problem, Aldrin had to join the space engine manually. Gemini 12 was a success, Aldrin managed to stay 2 hours 20 minutes in space.

Then, Aldrin was selected for the Apollo program. The objective was that a human step on the moon.
The mission in which humans went to the moon was Apollo 11. Buzz was part of it.
The space ship had two parts: one was eagle, the one that went to the moon and the other was Colombia, the one that stayed in orbit around the earth's only natural satellite.
Colombia first went in orbit around the earth to then go in orbit around the moon. At that stage, Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong went into eagle. After a few minutes, Aldrin and Armstrong discovered that the planned landing site was a crater, Neil took the commands of eagle and manually made it land on another part of the moon. When Aldrin and Armstrong were safely on the moon, Buzz Aldrin simply announced: "The Eagle has landed".

Armstrong walked down the ladder and when he stepped on the moon's surface he declared: "a small step for a human, a big leap for humanity."

20 minutes later, Buzz Aldrin went on the moon too. Aldrin spent about 1 hour and a half on the moon outside of eagle.
When both Aldrin and Armstrong were in the module, they discovered that the item to close the Eagle's doors was broken so they were stuck on the moon.
While every scientist back on earth were thinking about a solution, Buzz Aldrin took a pen and inserted it instead of the missing item. The Eagle could finally leave thanks to the ingenious mind of Buzz Aldrin.
Eagle went back on the Colombia and the spaceship went back to earth.

After Apollo 11, Buzz Aldrin became commandant of the USAF Aerospace Research Pilot School. He got married to Joan Archer and had three children.
He got drunk very often and finally stopped his actual job because it was very stressful.
He sold second hand cars and finally stopped drinking. As he was not great at selling car, he changed again and helped others to stop drinking.
He eventually retired. He is still alive and has had three wifes. He now has grandchildren.
