Exploration: Hailey

It's slightly inspired by a character from an Anime I like. Whenever she meets someone new she asks a billion questions about their appearance, likes and dislikes, and personalities. She also is a very jittery character, almost always needing to have something to do, from drawing to exercising.

She is a High School Senior and has only a small group of extremely close friends. She doesn't have a love interest, but hopes to find 'the one' soon. She work's part time at the local cat cafe and is friends with all of the cats there! She has a little brother in the 4th grade, Carl and a mother, Patricia, and a father, Samuel.

She has a shorter hairstyle, though her hair is extremely wavy. She also has thin bangs and the color is quite Chestnut-like. Her body type is pear shaped, and she is mildly pale. Unlike her parents, she's pretty short, peaking at 5'3. She usually keeps her hair down, but when she needs to she pulls the bangs back with a headband.

Hailey bounced down the sidewalk. It was a Sunday and she was heading to the forest at the edge of the small fishing village, Cabot Cove, to meet up with her friends. As she passed the little shop she peered in the window, spotting little trinkets.

'Wouldn't hurt to take a peek...' She thought before opening the door with a little ring. The shop's owner looked up from their book and smiled warmly. She seemed to be in her late 50's and had a wonderful complexion (In Hailey's opinion).

"Hi, welcome to Cove's Corner, I hope you find something you like!"

"Thank you so much! I looked through the window and just couldn't help myself. This place is adorable, by the way." Hailey sent a small grin to the shop's owner before she made her way over to a little table filled with trinkets and jewelry. Immediately, a small satchel caught her interest; well everything was interesting, but this was the most interesting.

"Excuse me, ma'am? How much would this satchel be, I just absolutely adore it!" The elderly woman smiled and walked over to Hailey. "For you, it's free."

"But... why wouldn't you want me to pay?" She started to reach for her wallet. "I'm willing to-" The shopkeeper held her hand up.

"I feel the satchel is supposed to be yours, so you can have it for free."

Hailey nodded and decided to comment on something else she noticed. The woman had a faint accent.

"If you don't mind me asking, what is your accent, it doesn't sound from around here. You don't have to answer, I'm just curious."

Again the woman smiled. "I don't mind. It's Liberian. Now go, you don't want to be late for your friends now do you?" Hailey quickly nodded and thanked her.

Only after she was well away from the shop did she realize that she never told the lady she was going to meet her friends. That piqued her interest.

"LADIES!!! I HAVE ARRIVED!!!" Hailey giggled after her huge announcement.

Skylar looked up from her phone to see Hailey walking towards her and Cameron. "Hey Hailey. you're 5 minutes and 23 seconds late."

Cameron snickered at her friends' interaction. "That was pretty straight-forward there, Sky." Skylar grinned slightly when she heard Hailey mumble "I'm great, thanks for asking..." Cameron looked back to the girl who had just arrived, starting to talk to her.

"So Hailey-" She was cut off by her friend's squeal. 'Uh oh, here we go...'

"OH MY FARQUAAD, Sky, WHERE did you get those earrings?!" Skylar wasn't putting up with this.

She shoved her phone in the back pocket of her jean shorts before grabbing one of each of her friends' hands, guiding them to the woods.

"Less talkie talkie, more walkie walkie!"

The girls were all hiking through the woods in a peaceful quiet; well, almost quiet.

"I wonder what would happen if we climbed a tree... Wanna try?" and "Why are we staying on the path, we should go out and try to survive for a while." were the most recent of Hailey's questions.

"Because, Hailey, none of us even know how to climb a tree, much less how to survive in the wilderness. Now, Cameron, what path are we on right now?" Cameron looked back to check the spray painted tree, seeing what color it was.

"We merged from the blue path to the purple."

"We didn't merge, are you sure?"

Hailey looked back to see the purple spray paint. That was odd, only a second ago they were on the blue path.

The girls had walked a little further before deciding to take a short break. Hailey couldn't stay still. "Girls, I'm going to walk a short bit ahead, cool?" They both nodded and she jogged in the opposite direction of where they were.

Only a few minutes more passed before Skylar and Cameron decided to run to catch up with Hailey. They both only had to run for 5 minutes or so to catch up with her, or so they thought.

"I swear she couldn't have run too far... are you sure we went the right way?" Skylar asked, looking around and behind herself warily. Cameron nodded. "I'm positive. I would call her, but there's no cell reception out in the middle of the woods. Do you want to try shouting?" Skylar shook her head as they slowed their pace to just walking down the path. They walked a little further until Cameron tripped on something.

"Hey, Sky, wasn't this that new purse-thingy Hailey was carrying...?" Skylar looked at the dirtied cloth in her friends' hands. "Yeah..." She took it from Cameron and looked inside.

"It still has all of her stuff in it as well, even her phone..."

Dread started to collect in the pit of the girl's stomachs as they looked around the area more thoroughly.

"This is bad, she's missing! Should we go back and try to find someone? What if she was taken!" Cameron voiced her worries and Skylar shook her head.

"Cam, sorry to break it to you, but you're not helping the situation right now." Skylar wiped a bead of sweat from the corner of her face and started to wonder of the path slightly. Cameron noticed this and grabbed Skylar's wrist. "Sky, haven't you watched horror movies? Never go off on your own in any spooky situation."

Skylar pulled her wrist from Cameron's grip. "I honestly don't care Cam. It's going to get dark soon and we haven't found anything to help us find Hailey in the past hour. Going off the trail is our best bet." With that, Skylar went into the shrubbery with a sad and confused Cameron left on the path.

Hailey had somehow found herself in a clearing in the middle of the woods with nothing with her. The past little while was quite fuzzy and only a few things stood out in her memory; a fox, dropping her new bag, and some pretty lanterns.

In the clearing she had found herself in, there was a small cottage, not creepy at all might I add... (Sarcasm) Hailey decided there wasn't much else to lose and walked up to the front door. She grabbed the little knocker and tapped it against the decaying door. "Um, hello? I think I might be lost." There wasn't any sound from inside the house. 'I guess no one's home...' She thought as she turned to walk away.

Suddenly, the door creaked open, startling her. Hailey turned around and craned her neck to see if she could see anything inside, but all she saw was darkness. Now, at this point her heart was racing. Would she go in or would she try to go back and find her friends.

She looked in again...

'Wouldn't hurt to take a peak...'

(This is the end... I like to leave things I write on cliffhangers.)
