In Japan, the Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs. 2 (機動戦士ガンダム エクストリームバーサス２ Kidō Senshi Gandamu Ekusutorīmu Bāsasu Tsū) arcade game will receive the major update and turn it into Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs. 2 XBoost (機動戦士ガンダム エクストリームバーサス２ クロスブースト Kidō Senshi Gandamu Ekusutorīmu Bāsasu Tsū Kurosu Būsuto) and the arcade game will be released on 3rd March 2021.

Several changes were made to the Burst System. While Fighting and Shooting Burst would remain untouched, Mobility was changed to only provide a pure movement boost. Extended and Linkage would be merged to form the new Covering Burst (カバーリングバースト Kabāringu Bāsuto), which can similarly be used defensively or to boost the partner's EX Gauge and Raging Burst (レイジングバースト Reijingu Bāsuto) would be introduced, which gives its user hyper armor and reduces their stagger from attacks.

A new addition would be the EX Burst X (イーエックス バースト エックス Ī Bāsuto Ekkusu), when the player activates their Burst alongside their teammate. The EX Burst X will now give the team additional buffs based on their own burst.

There are several units that will be added to this game:

・RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex (Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative)
・ASW-G-64 Gundam Flauros [Ryusei-Go] (Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans)
・GAT-X105/SB Star Build Strike Gundam (Gundam Build Fighters)
