What is the problem with first person?

I might get some hate for this, but I'm really confused so I'm asking rn.

So, I've seen a lot of person complain that they hate first person. And I'm genuinely curious as to why?

I get the fact that you cannot get others point of view and understanding if a story is in first person, but like, its not that bad...I think.

I've read many fanfics with first person, and I genuinely question what the problem is🧍‍♀️? Am I just lucky enough to have never encountered these 'cringe first person' fanfic that yall seem to dislike so much??

Like, am I missing something here that yall know or smth? A old fanfic only the real ones know??

So, I'm writing a found MHA family fanfic with the main focus being on Izuku, our dear main character.

And at first, I was thinking of writing it in first POV, and I did write it in first POV! Well, at least the first quarter of the first chapter was written in first POV until I came across this one video.

This video basically had something along the lines, "POV: You're starting a new fanfic and it starts with 'I‒'" and the creator of the video basically closes the fanfic after seeing the word 'I‒'.

I was ✨shell-shocked✨, I scrolled through all the comments in the video and found most, if not all, people agreeing.

It made me feel a little bit bad about my fanfic, if I was to be honest.

I felt like such a clown🤡, you could just paint my face white and blue now since I'm already red from embarrassment. [I am aware that makes no sense.]

But, hey, no blame to anyone expect me for not researching preferences of others in writing, I guess.

At that time, I was really too lazy to change the entire POV of the story to third person, so I just continued on as third person, but didn't change the past first person writing I had done.

Anyway, back to the question, what is the problem with first person?
