Tears fell from her eyes, once shiny and blue, now red and filled with emotionless-ness.
"I'm lost, done. Father will kill me if he finds out," Elisa rubbed her bruised ankle, the cool grass tickling it.
Bees hastily picked nectar from the honeysuckle flowers.
She felt as worried as them.
'That bastard,' Liv thought, how could he have done this to his own daughter?
Liv ran her hand through Elisa's blonde locks, "He won't. I promise."
"How could you be so sure?" The princess looked up with tears streaming down her face.
Liv bit her lip.
What could she say?
"It'll be fine, I promise," Liv kissed the girl's pale cheek.
The kingdom would be in ruin if he found out, immediately wanting to kill Livie if he found out his daughter was gay for her.
He was a man of power, soulless and corrupt, willing to beat his own wife and daughters into submission.
'Pathetic, really,' she thought.
Elisa stood up, dusting off her stained gown, "We could run away."
"No, although it would be easy for me, my love, I'm afraid you're too well known around the land."
"Ah. you're right."
"I love you, Lady Elisa, but please, promise me one thing."
"What will it be? I'll do anything."
Her faithfulness was beauty to Livie, but a curse to herself.
"Stay alive. Don't be weakened by that wretched man. My lady, I love you too much. For I have become obsessed by your touch, your sound, love."
"As with you, my knight, don't leave me, protect me."
Liv led her noble steed, Maxwell, to her side, helping Elisa on then, following behind, wrapped her hand clutched on the horse's ropes.
The white mustang, galloped, neighing quietly with the new figure of Elisa on his back, though obedient enough to Liv to let her ride.
"My my, Liv. Where did you find this beauty?" Elisa asked as she stroked the side of the horse's face.
"In the field. I've been doing my best to train him. He knows that if he throws you off, he'll get no extra treats tonight."
Elisa giggled, her dimples moving upward as she smiled.
Her knight, radiant as ever, her short, auburn hair glistening in the sunlight was most attractive in Elisa's eye.
She never considered she would ever fall head over heels for a person of the same gender as herself, though she didn't mind.
As long as there was love, she didn't give a care in the world.
"Summer is my favorite season, you know? I love the sun in my face and the way the leaves on the trees re-sprout is awe inspiring to me," Livie reminisced.
"Spring was always my favorite, but I do enjoy summer as well," Elisa looked to the sky, "Mother would take us to a field just like this one, let us pick flowers. She'd sing about how fast the world was changing and how old me and my sisters were getting. It certainly pleasant."
"Would your father join you?"
"He did once. It was actually quite fun. He helped us make paper boats and let them float along the river."
"That does sound lovely," Liv nodded, "Ah we're here."
They reached the front of a tavern, old and wooden.
They tied Maxwell up and left him out, dressing Elisa in a cloak as they entered.
Inside was a mix of new smells to Elisa, musty and alcoholic.
So different, yet familiar, like her father's breath as he beat Elisa and her siblings.
She clutched Liv's sleeve, "Smells like father."
"Than we should leave."
"No. I should at least give it a chance."
And they did, sitting at the rotted bar, waiting to be served.
"You know, Elisa, we should try it here. They do not judge at a place like this, and they don't know you're you.."
"Are you sure?" Elisa whispered.
"Yes.." Livie leaned in.
"Then yes," Elisa leaned back in.
Their lips, touched, slightly with a mix of shyness, love, and a tad of lust.
Liv moved in more, asserting the feeling to Elisa that everything was alright, no reason to be afraid.
"Sweet, Sweet love. It's beautiful, ain't it?" Recited the barman, not hiding the fact he enjoyed watching the two women making out.
The two pulled back, "Yes, it is." Liv answered.
"Two beers, on the house," The barman pushed over two mugs across the counter.
"Many thanks," Spoke Liv as Elisa nodded.
Elisa bit her the nail on her thumb, she never drank any sort of alcohol before, being sworn to maidenhood, it was forbidden.
Not even fancy wine would be permitted.
'The hell with it, i'm breaking the rules anyway, kissing Livie,' She thought as she downed the drink.
"Heavens, My lady. You sure are brave today," Liv chuckled.
Elisa smiled back, "Is that good?"
"Of course, my love."
And they drank more, Elisa going a bit more crazy than Livie.
They ended up having to spend the night in a barn.
Poor, Elisa, for what she has to deal with in the morning when she returns home.
