Top 10 Dragon Ball fights (my opinion)

Hey everyone. If I said that the Dragon Ball franchise had it's fair share of fights, it's be the fucking understatement of the year. I love this franchise. So I wanted to count down my top 10 favorite fights in Dragon Ball. This is my opinion, so if you see a fight you don't like here, a fight you like that isn't here, or a misplacement on where I put these fights, don't complain about it and keep it to yourselves. Though I am interested in what your favorite fight is.

And I'm not putting any fights from GT here 'cause GT sucks.

10. Goku vs Jackie Chun

I'm gonna explain why this is so low in the list. I didn't start with the original Dragon Ball, so this didn't leave as much of an impact as some of these other fights did. But I still really like this fight. Master Roshi taking a disguise to make sure Goku doesn't lose his fighting spirit was a good idea, and worked very good. Goku kept fighting after he lost so he could have a rematch with him, and that's what made him the Goku we know today. And the fight is great too. From the simple hand to hand combat, to Roshi having to blow up the moon so Goku can return from his Great Ape form. And that kick, so good.

9. Goku vs Piccolo (Dragon Ball)

This is the best fight from the original Dragon Ball. Change my mind. Piccolo wanted revenge on Goku for what he did to his father, and Goku is showing off his training from the last 3 years with Kami. Both brought everything they had into this fight, even showing some new stuff. Kamehameha from the feet, the giant Namekian form, that's never used again. And this is the first tournament where the DESTROY THE ENTIRE ARENA AND EVERYTHING AROUND IT! And Piccolo was absolutely brutal in this fight. Taking a page from daddy's page and kept Goku from moving by shooting him in the chest. Good thing he missed all of his vital organs.

Piccolo: All of them?!

Yep. All of them. And this is the first time Goku let one of his enemies live. Something we won't see the last of. As you'll see later on this list. This is a great fight, and my favorite from the original Dragon Ball.

8.  Goku vs Buu (Dragoon Ball Z)

I love this fight. Goku has to face against the true form of Buu after he eliminated the Earth. And he has to race against time as Super Saiyan 3 doesn't work as good for him alive as when he was dead. When he ran out of power, he had to go to his last resort. The Spirit Bomb. Leaving Vegeta having to buy time for him fighting Kid Buu to get all the energy he needs from everyone on earth to kill this bastard. And one of the highlights of this fight is when Vegeta admits that Goku is the best. Only to take that back after he finds out about Super Saiyan God, and seeks to be better after that. And the goodbye Goku gives to Buu, so good.

7. Goku vs Majin Vegeta (Dragon Ball Z)

This fight is just...mmmmmmm so good. Vegeta wanted to fight Goku on an equal playing field by giving himself up to Babidi's control so he can return to the evil bastard from the beginning of the series. And it works. The first thing he does when he gets this power up is kill a bunch of people. Vegeta's speech to Goku about about his destroyed pride shows just how much he hates what's happened to him after losing to Goku. And his speech about why he submitted to Babidi's control is also very good. He actually admits that he didn't hate living on earth, and having a wife and kid. He actually enjoyed it. But when he found the opportunity to fight Goku on the same level, he fuckin' took it. And the actual fighting is great too. Even though the Buu saga had its ups and downs, this is definitely its best up.

6. Goku vs Beerus (Battle Of Gods)

https://youtu.be/Ue5A_5zJPUc

This video only has a small part of the goodness of this fight. This movie came out after over 10 years of nothing new Dragon Ball. And I love it. It opened up an entire new world that was never thought of before. And this fight shows just how far a Saiyan truly can go. Even after transforming into a regular Super Saiyan, Goku was still able to go against Beerus equally, more or less, and show that Saiyan's aren't to be messed with, or the earth. The music is so hype, and the animation just feels so smooth. And I love the contrasting of yellow and purple to help it stand out. And when Goku used all of his Super Saiyan God power to destroy the destruction sphere Beerus crated gives me the chills. Goku's fight against Beerus has been my favorite fight from a movie for so long, but we'll get to my number one soon.

5. Gohan vs Cell (Dragon Ball Z)

Oh, Gohan. How much you've peaked. This fight is so good. This is the fight for Gohan that's been building up for Gohan for so long. The child vs the perfect being. Ever since the appearance of Raditz, we've seen moments of Gohan with hidden power, and now we see just how much power he truly has. When he goes Super Saiyan 2, he claps some cheeks. The total domination of Cell just shows how powerful, and even scary Gohan is like this. Some of my favorite moments are in this fight. The transformation, Goku's sacrifice, Vegeta's anger at Trunks' death, and the Father-Son Kamehameha. This is a great fight with great moments.

4. Goku vs Vegeta (Dragon Ball Z)

This is it. The beginning of how these two became the greatest rivals in anime history. The low level trash vs the elitist. Everything in this fight became the basis of how Dragon Ball would be. Power ups, beam attacks, ENDLESS AMOUNTS OF SCREAMING, and struggles of power. Goku struggles so much in this fight, and can only stand up to Vegeta after a Kaioken x3, which he shouldn't do. His body got WRECKED after that. And that iconic beam struggle between Kamehameha and Galick Gun, and gives me the chills just thinking about it. And it also showed just how terrifying a controlled Great Ape is, instead of one that's going on a mindless rampage. Even after Goku is taken out of commission during this fight, he gives everything over to Gohan and Krillin. But even that comes with challenges after Kirllin hits Vegeta with the Sprit Bomb. And it started the basis of Vegeta and his rivalry with Goku. After this fight, his goal is set as, "Become stronger than Kakarot." I love this fight, and is the second best fight of Z.

3. Gogeta vs Broly (Dragon Ball Super Broly)

Oh my God. Best. Dragon Ball. Movie fight. EVER! The animation is so here. Really shows how far this new animation style can go. And the progression we see Gogeta go through from base, to Super Saiyan, then Blue was so good. And Broly's legendary state was so awesome. And when Gogeta went Blue, Broly never hot him ONCE. Rewatch the fight, Gogeta isn't hit once after going Blue. And when he used the Soul Punisher, I remember fanboying in the theater when I saw this. And all the new moves Gogeta pulled out were so awesome. And that dimension break moment was so trippy and cool. I love this fight, I love this movie, and we must congratulate Frieza for getting his ass whooped for an hour so Goku and Vegeta could get the fusion right.

2. Ultra Instinct Goku vs Jiren (Both of them) (Dragon Ball Super)

Easily the best fight form Super. When Goku used Ultra Instinct for the first time, it flet like something entirely new. We saw just how useless Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken x20 was against Jiren, so when we saw just how easily Ultra Instinct could evade and match Jiren's attacks, it was unbelievable. Then when he mastered it, Jiren didn't stand a chance. The heavenly glow from the aura, the pure silver from his eyes and hair, it looks so cool. Then Jiren's ptsd state made a contrasting red to Goku's blue looked so awesome. The choreography of the fight was so good. The action was high speed fun, and kept us interested through the whole thing.

1. Goku vs Frieza (Dragon Ball Z)

Coming as a surprise to know one, the best fight in Dragon Ball is Goku vs Frieza. This fight is so long, and that's not a complaint. We see in this fight Frieza's true terror. Frieza is the first villain in Dragon Ball where it felt truly hopeless to beat him. Goku pulled out everything he had to beat him, and nothing could work. The beginning of their fight seemed evenly matched, but then Frieza used 70% of his power and wrecked Goku. Even using a 20x Kaioken can't slow him down. Then he decides to use his best move, the Spirit Bomb. And when that seemed to work, Frieza just kept coming back. Then after Krillin's death. The real fight begins. After Goku became Super Saiyan, cheeks. Are. CLAPPED! He is relentless on Frieza. He feels the true rage of a Saiyan. And Frieza has to feel fear as he fights the one thing he fears more than anything. Because he's not dealing the average Saiyan warrior anymore. He was then forced to use all 100% of his power on Goku. And during the longest five minutes in anime history, there was so much tension as Goku has to kill Frieza as the planet gets closer and closer to destruction. And when they fight on the ground instead of just the air, we can really appreciate the fight choreography at its best. It's when Frieza cuts himself in half, Goku gave him energy, not because he wanted a stronger fight, but because of pity. Even when he lost his legs and an arm, Frieza didn't let up. He gave one more attack and Goku gave him a "You fool!" This is a great fight, and it's just too good.

And there it is. My top 10 fights in Dragon Ball. Thanks for reading.
