Here is how I like to shade, pictures are step by step! 😁

Step 1

Base sketch! Add in details you want for later, like the fire, shape of the eyes and the hair!

Step 2

Outlining a bit thicker because of the shading technique It drowns outlines easily! Take your cotton ball or Q-tip and start rubbing it across the paper blending the pencil lines! If you are not using a mechanical pencil (like I am) you can also use the side of a sharpened pencil to get that smokey effect without having to shade as much! 😁

Step 3

See what I mean about droned outlines? This is also a great opportunity to fix proportions! I didn't like how the hip looked so I changed it up easily since the outlines we're very light.

Step 4

Make heavier lines to color in your character and rip off a smaller piece of your cotton ball to get the smaller areas, such as face, arms, hai and legs or in this case ghost tail lol!

Step 5

The next step is to lightly erase the areas you want white and just go crazy with the cotton ball, blending everything to give that soft look! Then after you can add back the sharpness with a lighter outline of everything. That's it, you're done! ❤
