Austin Pretty much the basic way of using it, because god forbid, a female character can't be strong unless they're regarded as a mary sue. And it's totally not like that term has been overused and completely misrepresented and used by idiots who don't remember what the actual meaning is. 

"A Mary Sue is an idealized and seemingly perfect fictional character. Often, this character is recognized as an author insert or wish fulfillment. They can usually perform better at tasks than should be possible given the amount of training or experience, and usually are able through some means to upstage the main protagonist of the story, such as by saving the hero."

(So yeah, you guys who don't like kale and caulifla and call them mary sues, you're basically calling them idealized and seemingly perfect fictional characters. So yeah. Make up your minds).
