Oh boy I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this but I don't care. I'm willing to do what my friends wanted to do but couldn't due to the fanboys.

Now I'm gonna be saying why Shido Itsuka from Date A Live is way better than Issei Hyoudou from Highschool DxD.

Because I have to say many people overhype Issei so much when its easy to actually to point out the flaws that makes him an unlikable character.

Before you people go all like Issei is like us and that we're all perverts, that is not the case. I mean sure people can be perverted which is ok but Issei is just too much like peeping on girls and wanting to be harem king, how is any of that shit relatable and realistic to anyone at all?!

Not to mention his character development was slow as fuck to the point he was beyond liking at that that point.

And people are just too defensive about him to the point that can make people hate him more. Like seriously, respect an opinion for crying out loud!

Now to discuss why Shido is far better than Issei and shouldn't get the hate he gets.

People are saying Shido is a coward but that is not true. He willingly went out to see if his sister was ok, he took a bullet for Tohka, he stood there to get hit by a blast from Yoshino, he jumped off from a building to die so that Kurumi could stop the spacequake and many other shit. Sure Shido wasn't much of a fighter and doens't look for trouble but if trouble finds him, he doesn't run from it and will try to do anything he can to sort out the problem.

Next is how realistic Shido's personality is, like many anime protagonists, he does have a tragic personality but he doesn't think about it too much because he has no reason to do so. Not mention him not having any goal at the beginning is also pretty relatable as that's what many people do.

There's also to how there is more to Shido in the light novel. You see like characters such as Touma and Shirou, the Date A Live anime leaves out parts of Shido's character due to the fact they were more focus on giving character to the girls.

Like Shido had a lot to go through even when he isn't dealing with the spirits as no one in his school actually respected him as a person because they kept on publicly shaming him and in every volume he ends up doing something he is comfortable with.

And that's not when he's dealing with the spirits. When he is, he sees people killing each other, was nearly killed on many occasions and learned that in timelines that he had died 204 times.

Like when Issei nearly got killed by Raynare, he became afraid of woman and became dense to their feelings as while Shido actaully suffered more yet doesn't stop and knows that the spirits love him and despite them being mentally unstable he still manages to save them.

Speaking of which, now to get to why the girls of Date A live are better than the girls from Highschool DxD.

The DxD girls are overhyped aswell thinking they are flawless when they are not. They are still capable of doing things you see other anime girls do so stop overhyping them! Although the DAL girls are flawed, people are will admit it and love them for it. Not to mention you actually get to see more character from the DAL girls than any of the DxD girls with the only good DxD girl being Rosweisse.

And to add on to that Tohka is a better girlfriend than Rias everyday of the week. Rias was kinda a bitch who made Issei try to save he loved her and ignored that he had ptsd and is pretty much kinda useless in a lot of fights. Tohka on the underhand is more loving and caring than Rias can ever be. Tohka had more character shown about her and she held Shido more times than Rias ever helped Issei. Fuck all that big breast and arrogant shit Rias does, I rather have Tohka who is kind, caring and cute while having more character development.

Not to mention about the girls, Shido actually put in effort to get the girls to love him while Issei just shows off how strong he is and due to that dragon shit he has is why he get girls. Shido actually does actual effort as he listens and understands the girls and saves them because they all important to him he is the reason why the spirits can now live happy lives and therefore I find it better on why the spirits love Shido.

Pretty much Shido is an underrated chad or even a goat he deserves so much better than what people give him. In my eyes, he is one of the best, if not best harem protagonist because of how balanced he is.
