Recently i rewatched Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Not only was I reminded of how much an amazing movie it is, but was also reminded of how good the characters are. Everyone knows how much of a godly character Sarah Conner is, but I want to dive into the amazing character that is the T-800.

     In the first movie, Arnold played the role of the T-800 as the villain. The Terminator, as he is called, was a terrifying force. A machine posing as a man, able to take bullets as if it tickled him. He killed without remorse and was driven by a singular goal that he will complete even if his body is blown apart. You cannot tell me that THIS isn't terrifying.

     So when the second movie came out you might wonder, how could they do the same story again? The answer is simple.

Turn the main villain of the first movie into a good guy.

     Now good guy is stretching it since the T-800 did injure people and police officers doing their job. Hear me out though, the reason why Arnold was such a good choice as the actor to play the T-800 was because he's big and doesn't convey a lot of emotions. No slouch on him though I love his movies.

     The T-800 was what you expect at the beginning, a machine designed to protect John and follow his orders. But John Conner was able to change the machine to something else. Through him trying to bond and teaching the Terminator more and more about being a human, the T-800 became more selfless and gave more expressions. In short, the T-800 went from a machine to a man.

     Later in the movie he intentionally makes an effort to protect John and Sarah. He even told them both to get away so he can deal with the T-1000, the main villain of the movie. He was even prone to crack a joke every now and then.

     Thus, we come to the end where the T-800 does one of the greatest acts in cinematic history. A machine that only understands coding and commands, a machine that turned into a man able to think for himself. And after supposedly ridding the future of Skynet, the T-800 makes the conscious decision to sacrifice himself to make sure Skynet is completely erased from the timeline. A machine thought to make the ultimate sacrifice for the boy he came to care for.

And that is why the T-800 is an amazing character....
