It is more than likely that Ash Ketchum, who is now world champion, will be retiring as the main character in due time. There's really no where else you can take this character and he's had a long enough run. While this is probably not gonna happen, as they had a Hisuian special but they didn't go back in time, I think this can be a more fun idea of what teams Ash could have if he was in the Paldea region and what a possible ancestor of him could have.

    Starting with Hisuian, I think Ash's ancestor would be similar to him in terms of personality. The goofy and lovable dork who loves to battle. As for his team, I think it would be interesting if it was Hisuian versions of Pokémon he caught for his ancestor to use, as well as adding in some I think fit his personality.

Pikachu

    Cmon, this shouldn't even be a challenge. Ancestor version or not, Ash without Pikachu just doesn't feel right

Decidueye

    To make up for Rowlett not evolving in the Alola anime, having this more grown and badass fighting grass type would be an interesting thing to see.

Goodra

    I've always loved Ash's Goodra and seeing this more snail like design, plus the unique dragon and steel typing, could add an interesting dynamic with his ancestor.

Arcanine

    This version of Arcanine is just really dang cool with the fire and rock typing. I've heard a lot of people wanted Ash to catch an Arcanine, so why not have this ancestor of his get one?

Braviary

     While I do think the unova version of this Pokémon would fit more, this Hisuian version is still really cool. Plus it would be a cool nod to OG Ash's Noctowl.

Zoroark

    Ngl, I'm mixed on the idea of giving any version of Ash a Zoroark. But with this version of Zoroark it can be really, really interesting. I can see a good character arc where this Ancestor Ash has to earn the trust of Zorua and when the time is right, he evolves into a protective ally who sees this Ancestor Ash as family.

Onto Paldea

Pikachu

Same song and dance, Ash doesn't feel right without Pikachu.

Quaquaval

Ash having a Quaquaval can be a nice callback to Greninja and Hawlucha. I love how flashy this Pokémon is, plus with its kicking move fighting style I think it can really fit with Ash's unpredictable style and personality.

Annihilape

Cmon, how cool would it be if Ash's Primeape returned and evolved into this absolute beast? You cannot tell me that wouldn't be an cool return and give some love to a Pokémon who had like, one good episode. Plus everyone likes to wank how powerful Primeape is, now you'd have a reason lol.

Armarouge

Yes yes, I know. Everyone prefers the edgy swordsman better but dammit, I'm one of the few people who prefer Armarouge. I can definitely see a cool story arc where Ash finds a Charcadet and helps him get stronger by finding the armor. It's also said that Armarouge is incredibly loyal, and we love loyal Pokémon.

Greavard

Okay I couldn't help myself, Greavard is adorable. I don't think he would be a good battler but still would try his best. He could also be the cute Pokémon who would act as the most wholesome one in the show, helping cheer up other Pokémon and trainers whenever they feel sad.

Great Tusk

Definitely the most interesting aspect of the Paldea region is the Paradox Pokémon, creatures who come from either the ancient past or the future. And it's the same with Annihilape and the Hisuian Pokémon above. I always felt Donphan was underrated as an Ash Pokémon, so bringing this guy into his team could be a cool callback and bring some good memories.
