The Creature of Shadow Peak Mountain
Author's Note: The other story. I honestly never liked this one as much as I enjoyed the other one. The unfortunate bit is that Trapped didn't get that good of a grade.

The streets were darker than the sky above on this winter evening.
Most people would be feeling rather adverse by this situation., but not the young man by the name of Lee Westfields.
Lee's walk down the solid street soon became a rough trudge through grimy muck as he reached the edge of town that lead to Creek Woods and further down the path, Shadow Peak Mountain.
Rocks covered the path in the woods, which made Lee narrow his eyes in disgust.
" Out of everything that could be covering this path. Why did it have to be rocks?" he growled with a hint of acrimony in his voice after having to climb over some rocks that briefly halted his stride.
Lee continued to have to climb over the rocks, but this problem only helped to improve his determination to climb to the top of the mountain.
Earlier that day Lee was sitting at the counter of his home, his hand against his head as he read the newspaper, " Dad, what's this thing about a creature on Shadow Peak?" he asked looking over at his father. The tall man looked at Lee briefly before returning to his book, the look apprehension and regret in his eyes.
" None of your concern Lewis. " Lee's father responded solemnly causing Lee to stand up from his chair, " What do you mean, ' None of my concern.' Dad?" Lee crossed his arms over his chest, " I believe I have every right to know." he narrowed his eyes as his father looked up at him, the antagonism growing steadily as their conversation went on.
Lee's father stood up, setting his book down onto the coffee table in front of him.
" Son, I don't want you to go after that monster." his father folded his arms over his chest with a quick wince.
" Why can't you be more amenable Dad?" Lee asked, rising his brow, " Like Mom and Isaiah." he turned around putting on the purple vest he wore when leaving the house.
Lee's father took a step forwards, " Please don't compare me to your mother and older brother." he held his hand out towards Lee as he opened the door, " and please don't leave me. You and your sister are all I have left." his father cried out as the Lee slammed the door behind him, leaving his father standing alone in the living room.
Lee shook his head as he snapped back into reality, " That old man. I just don't understand him at times." he sighed reaching the edge of the forest.
The calming aesthetic of the lanterns that lined the path up to the peak of Shadow Peak caused Lee to let out a small sigh. Although Lee didn't look at the path for long, because a strange noise forced him to turn his head sharply towards the forest.
" Hello there young man."
An affable voice spoke causing Lee to tilt his head, " Who's there? I thought I was alone out here." he frowned continuing to look around the forest, but he remained in the same spot. The bushes began to rustle causing Lee to take a small step back.
" Do not flee, for I am the answer to your many questions." the voice spoke again as a blue shape slowly came out of the bushes and trees.
A deer, but no ordinary deer.
This deer was covered in blue fur that could rival that of a cloudless spring day, and the antlers were a soothing yellow that could rival the sun on that same day.
The deer stared at Lee was brief curiosity before speaking again, " Do you have an affinity for any of your family members that you miss dearly?" the deer spoke causing Lee to take a small step backwards, collecting his thoughts.
" My mother, Serena, and my older brother, Isaiah. " he finally spoke, but it was just barely above a shaky whisper.
The deer took a small step forward, " Then climb up the mountain to see them again. For there I have my full power." the deer leapt out of the bushes and past Lee to run up the path.
Lee stood in the same spot for a few minutes before turning around and running up the past after the glowing deer.
It took Lee roughly an two hours before he reached the near peak of the mountain. The ledge he was on was maybe only four to five inches out, and it was clearly starting to break with each step forward Lee took.
Lee narrowed his eyes looking around out towards the other end on the ravine he was looking at. Lee narrowed his eyes and he noticed an antiquated lantern that didn't match the other lanterns that Lee had passed on his tread up the mountain.
This lantern was covered in rust and moss from the harsh weather that would normally took the mountain during the spring and fall.
" Lewis..." the deer's voice spoke again making Lee look past the lantern.
The deer stood on the end, " This lantern will give you what you desire." the deer placed its hoof near the lantern causing Lee to wince.
Lee blinked, " Are you sure this will let me see my brother and mother again?" he asked taking a step back as the deer nodded.
" I am positive. I am the altruistic spirit of Shadow Peak Mountain after all." the deer chuckled causing Lee to nod in response.
Lee took six steps back before starting to run towards the ravine.
I will see my family again.
He told himself over and over again in his mind as when he reached the end of the cliff he jumped and grabbed the handle of the lantern.

" Mister Westfields are you doing alright?"
The police officer spoke in the cold office as Lee's father looked up from the large chair he was sitting in.
" I'm doing fine." the older man whispered as he began to look down at his hands, " and please call me Morris." he smiled, but even the officer knew he was faking it.
" Well, Morris. We found the body of your son, Lewis Westfields at the bottom of Shadow Ravine, and in his hands we found this lantern." the officer spoke slowly sliding the lantern across the table to Morris.
Morris picked the lantern up as his eyes started to water.
He shakingly clutched a small blue tag that was on the handle of the lantern.
" To Isaiah from. To Isaiah from Dad." he stuttered setting the back down onto the table before placing his head in his hands.
