Random thought
So I was listening to "Lost Boy" by Ruth B. and I was thinking so if Peter Pan was telling her that he would be her friend but then people kept speaking to her about running from reality. Does that mean Peter Pan represents imagination and dreams and fiction?
So would that mean Captain Hook is reality?
Soo to me that would mean that kids hang out with Peter Pan because he helps them not to see what's really there and masks what they're seeing behind something sweeter and not as harmful.
Where Captain Hook tries to help the kids see reality and doesn't sugarcoat anything but he seems to care about the lying to people. he may not be the nicest but Peter never let us see the nice parts cause he wants us to stay with him so he makes them see someone gross and mean. But Captain Hook doesn't really care about that image because he knows he not the nicest and doesn't want to hide it from them but is mad at Peter because he might be generally nice but is made to be seen as this big mean bad guy.
So I can see where one kid was lonely so Peter Pan came to be their friend and so they became friends with Peter and the Lost Boys but soon they find out that one of their family members dies and Peter comes and says he can make it go away and that you won't have to think of them ever again. You just have to let him touch your head to take away the memories of your family. They pushed Peter Pan away saying to go away. Soon they hear a knock on their door and blindly shout "I told you to go away Peter!" The strangely familiar voice on the other side says "I'm not Peter and I heard what happened I'm not going to tell you that it's ok but I'm out here if you need a hug" they open the door wiping their eyes and see Captain Hook look at you with kind eyes and a small smile with open arms. And they think maybe he isn't what Peter made him to be.
I don't know just a random thought
