Beginning of love suffers
There is this one girl. She might seem like she is just one of those normal girls, but she is not. Not for me anyways. The first time I saw her I lost my breath and when I wanted to go to talk to her, my mind wouldn't cooperate. My feet would tangle, my knees would shake and I started to stutter. It was nothing like me.
I decided to give up to trying to talk to her and so I watched her whenever I got the chance. I would just watch her from the distance with small smile until something changed.
She started casting glances at me and I would always shy away, to make her think I'm not interested. She would unexpectedly glance toward me and I would as fast as possible turn my head away sometimes resulting in painful neck.
I hated myself for it. Why do I turn my head away? I know how important eye contact is and she had eyes as blue as the sea, dark and deep. Even though her eyes are dark colored she was shining as bright as the sun on the hottest day.
I loved when she would crane her head, exposing her neck as her blonde hair with blue highlights on the tips would slide from her silky shoulder when her shirt falls of her shoulder.
Then one day as I looked away not to be caught she disappeared. I looked with my eyes wide open where us she but I haven't seen the trace of her. My head hung down without me ordering that.
Someone tapped my shoulder. I turned to take a look at the person and it was her. That's the first time I really looked into her eyes. She cranes her neck once again and my heart started cracking my ribs. She smiled.
"You finally looked into my eyes." She said. I couldn't say anything, not that I wanted to be speechless, so I just nodded losing myself in her eyes. "I think you have something to tell me."
"I do?" I asked her. Strangely I didn't stutter. I'm glad because of that.
"Yes, you do." She continued smiling while I was thanking God on that school wall I was leaned on.
"H-hello." I stuttered. I wanted to choke myself but it would be weird if I catches my neck and pressed it stopping air to come to my lungs.
"Hello Ethan." She looked at me in wonder. "You are getting closer. Now would be time for you to give me a compliment."
"You look as beautiful as ever Melanie." Her eyes shined and that made me smile more than I already have been.
"Thank you." Her expression changed to the one of uncertainty. Seems like she wanted to ask ne something. "When were you planning on asking me to a date?" This surprised me.
"What?" I barely managed not to yell in surprise. "I-I d-don't know. W-when I-I collect enough courage, probably." I don't think I would ever get enough courage to be exact.
"Hmm. Now would be perfect chance you know. I might even accept it." She winked as she raised her hand to her pink, small lips.
"I guess you are right."
"I'm always right."
"And, umm, w-will you g-go?" I asked her.
"Go where?" She asked me.
"To a date with me?" I wanted her to say yes so badly. I could feel sweat trickling down my neck to wetten my shirt.
"No." She just said no with blank face. "Not good enough. You need confidence. When you get confident enough, ask me. Then I will accept." She smiled and turned away with a small wave of her hand.
I was left in disbelief. I was happy I talked to her and all but I was in disbelief. She came to me and asked me to ask her to a date then rejected. I guess she is right, but still... It's unfair.
Few days later when I saw her alone and decided to ask her out. Her hair was slightly wavy and she wore light blue shirt and white skirt that is just above her knees. There was white cat with black strips that looked like small Siberian tiger pushing it's small head at Melanie's leg. She kneeled and started petting it. The cat enjoyed it. I walked silently to her, I did not want to scare the cat but I startled Melanie when my feet tangled and I almost fell. How embarrassing!
She first looked at my direction with anger, she looked cute angry, and then she smiled and stole one more part of my heart.
"Hello Ethan." She said it while standing up.
"Hello. Sorry about the cat." I didn't stutter
"Don't worry. She'll come around." Then she had me in the maze of her eyes, in that endless maze from which no one has escaped.
"So, will you... Um, go to a date with me?" I put my hand on the back of head and awkwardly scratched it.
"There you go. You collected enough courage." She took few steps towards me. "Yes, I will. Tonight at eight wait me here." She came right by my side when she finished. My heart was beating so fast it seemed like some drummer was using my heart as a drum. Melanie hugged me and then went away. After few moments I turned and went to the place I was originally going.
That night I appeared in white shirt, dark blue pants and black shoes that are mix between running shoes and formal ones. I waited for her around 15 minutes and I started wondering if she will appear. When she did I couldn't believe my eyes how good she looked. Her hair was wavy as it was today, she wore short, blue dress. We went to the one coffee shop where only couples go. I didn't mind where we went as long as we were alone.
We talked about everything. From our likes and dislikes to atoms and planets. We talked about aliens, do they exist or it were people making those burned signs in the crops. We laughed and she clung to my arm as on TV has been commercial about horror move.
After maybe half an hour waiter came and told us that they are closing. I looked at the time on my phone and noticed it was almost midnight. The two of laughed at how fast the time has passed. I wanted to follow her home but she said that her mom will be coming to pick her up. I was saddened by that but it couldn't be helped.
"Now it's your turn to say yes." She said with strange, brighter light in her eyes.
"What am I agreeing on?" I got interested.
"You are agreeing to being my boyfriend." She smiled exposing her white teeth.
"Yes." And she ran at me and kissed me.
"Bye Ethan. I will see you tomorrow." She turned and started walking toward the place her mom was supposed to pick her up.
"Wait Melanie. Something seems wrong with my phone." She looked at me questioningly. "It misses your phone number." She started laughing.
"Someone prepared himself." She winked as she took my phone and typed her number in it.
Then she turned again and waved. I stood there being surprised at everything that happened that night. After a minute of standing there she turned and waved once more. That moved my feet and I disappeared into the darkness of the street without lampposts.
