ASEXUAL AWARENESS WEEK!!!!

OCTOBER 19th (TODAY) BEGINS ASEXUAL AWARENESS WEEK!

Asexual awareness week is for those who are asexual or fit under the asexual umbrella (aceflux, demisexual, autosexual, greyasexual, etc.)

We get awareness - like it's some kinda fudging disease or something- instead of pride because people freak out when we call it pride because pride is for people who get oppressed and apparently  aces are never oppressed within or outside of the community by anyone.

Okay I'm good now calling it awareness just makes me mad. (We don't have pride because gay people can be aphobic.)

So here are some definitions for you:

Asexual: No sexual attraction.

Demisexual: You only experience sexual attraction to someone after an emotional bond is formed. You gotta know the person well. Befriend them. See their soul.

Greyasexual: rarely experiences sexual attraction. Like you'll be asexual and then one day you suddenly meet a person who you will have sexual attraction for. And then perhaps you shall understand how the z-sexual (normal) people feel, but only around that person.

Aceflux: imagine there's a line that represents how much sexual attraction you can experience. At one end is Jack Harkness. At the other is R2D2. You can be anywhere on this line at any time. That is aceflux.

Wtfsexual: you can't tell the difference between sexual and plutonic attraction. You look at your attraction and it's like wtf is this? Frickle or frackle or nah?

There are other types of attraction besides sexual attraction.

Plutonic attraction: Friendship! :) Also called a squish!

Romantic attraction: Crushes. Love. <3

Sensual attraction: you want to hug, kiss, cuddle, hold hands. (>•_•)(•_•<)

Aesthetic attraction: Pretty! Flowers are pretty but it doesn't mean you want to fück them does it?

Sexual attraction: dat ass though
Dem titties
Checkin them out with the upwards downwards upwards again eye movement weirdness
Lust
Does not cause and is not caused by any of the other attractions though the two can be connected it is not a necessity. Think Barney Stenson.

Romantic attraction can have orientations too.

Also I have suspicions about plutonic attraction. You know those people who think you can't be friends with the opposite gender? I'm going to start calling that homoplutonic.

The attractions are each their own separate thing. None of them are any better than the others or on a higher level they're just different.

I'm aroflux. It's like aceflux except with romantic instead of sexual so imagine instead of R2D2 and Jack Harkness it's like (insert your OTP here) and the other end is (insert your NOTP here). This is having complications in my life sense I got a boyfriend.

It's also very hard to notice that you don't experience sexual attraction BECAUSE WHAT IS IT?!?!? I DONT KNOW?!??!

And one percent of the population is asexual. Currently that's like seven billion people but it used to be a lot smaller so now people can find eachother and it's a lot easier but it's still a bit obscure.  Like the second I found this out it's like "woah hold the phone wait what this is a thing I'm not just a crazy weirdo or a sociopath? IM NORMAL?!?!?" And it took me a little while to actually believe this was a thing. Until I looked it up on tumblr and found all the posts telling me I'm not broken or confused. But then it was like yeah this is me.  I find it odd that I found out I'm not straight and that makes me feel more normal but it does. Yeah. That's why we need awareness and not pride I guess. Cause people need to be more aware and know who they are.

Oh and if anyone knows of a canonically huma asexual character who is not a sociopath in a book or tv show then please tell me about it it would make me so happy. I can't find any.
