The Turning pt 1/?
Scar woke up in chains.
Now, this wasn't a not normal thing, per say. He's done this quite a few times with Grian or Cub, heck even BDubs sometimes.
But this... this was different. He didn't recognize the room he was in. Don't get him wrong, it wasn't a bad room, but he wasn't in the cool comfort of Cub's, or in the quiet warmth of Grian's. And honestly? He wasn't even sure if any hermit had a room like this is their base.
Looking around, the bed he was currently chained too looked to be almost for a child, or someone BDubs sized even. There was a small window in the corner slowly filtering in what looked like to be sunlight, so he knew it was probably morning, but not what time it was.
Shifting around revealed that he could get off the bed and walk around, though not far, and he used this knowledge to check under the bed (nothing was there) and to try and see out the window. Neither were successful.
Sighing, he went to pat at the pockets of his mayor outfit before freezing.
This... this was not his mayor outfit. Did Grian or Cub change him while he slept?? Well, that was rather odd if he did say so himself, but at least the outfit had room for his baby blue wings to poke out through the back.
The weird almost gown-like outfit, though, unnerved him on a whole other level. He'd never seen anything like it, or at least he didn't remember. Wracking his brain, he realized he didn't even remember falling asleep!
Which, okay, fine, most people don't, but he doesn't even remember going to bed, let alone stepping foot into his bedroom. And since he didn't have any big projects to be working on, he was fairly certain he would've at least made it to bed. But that just brings the question... Where was he then?
"..Cub? Grian? If this is you, this isn't a funny praaaank! You both know you're not allowed to take comms, I know you do!" He hesitantly calls out, trying to maneuver his way over to near the only door to the room, not getting far in the slightest before he's stopped by the chain.
He turns to glare at it, sighing as he trudged slowly back over to sit on the bed, hand on his chin as he thinks... and thinks... and thinks. He huffs softly, flopping backwards into the bed.
Seriously! Where were they! Surely if this was a prank they'd be here by now right? .....Right?
He sits there alone for an ungodly amount of time after that, trying hard to not think about the worst possible scenario that he currently could be in..... Shoot there it is again! Stupid thoughts. He just wanted out. Flapping his allay wings in annoyance, he gets up off the bed, antsy to do something, and fixes the bed. Aaand fixes it again. And again. Now he finds himself just folding and refolding stuff. The loneliness.... it was felt like it was suffocating him.
He'd never gone a day without talking to his friends, after all he needed it to survive, and this was reaching a breaking point.
It just reminded him of... he didn't even want to think about it. This wasn't a repeat of that, he was fine. He was in someone's house, not locked in a cage like a wild animal. This is fine. Great, even. It gave him time to think about himself is all... Man he really was desperate for anything.
He lays back down again with a sigh, closing his eyes for just a second and... darkness.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When he woke again, he could tell something was.. different. The air smelled weird, like...diamonds?
That was odd.
Looking at the window again showed him that it was nighttime. Great. Had he been gone for a day now? A week? He... didn't think this was a prank. Not anymore. No sane person would leave him here for possibly days on end without visiting while he was awake. Actually, no sane person would've kidnapped him. Period.
...Man was that smell of diamonds strong. Reminded him of... He slaps at himself. No! He is not doing that again. Diamonds were just an ore, nothing else. Not that dumb, delicious food....
He finally sits up with a sigh and catches a look of some metal tray that was over by the door. He couldn't really see what was on it really, but what else did he have to do? Maybe it was food? Slowly sitting up, he looked over and....
No. no no no no no. Sitting on a plate was a pristine, perfect, unblemished looking diamond. His allay wings fluttered helplessly behind him, and he shuddered, trying to lay back down to block out any thought of them.... But it smelled so good!
Now now, I can't eat those... yet, he reasons with himself. Maybe when I'm.. desperate. Yeah. Only when I'm desperate...
Believe Scar when he says he was decidedly not going insane, okay? Every time he woke up, there was another diamond on the plate. At this point there was over ten of them, just.. sitting there.....
His patience was.. waning. If someone else didn't show up, he was going to eat those. And if he ate those, well.... It wasn't a very pleasant transformation despite feeling bubbly the entire time. It was more because of the fact that he wasn't in control when it happened. When his mob side took over, he was easy to.. manipulate? Was that even the word if he did it willingly anyways? More like... pushed in the direction they wanted him to go.
With his hair dangling over his shoulder, he curled up into a little ball on the small bed, hiding his face in his knees as if that would hide him away from the world. His little wings wrapped around himself in an attempt to comfort himself, though he knew it would do nothing. They never did.
He stayed like that for a long time, longer than he'd like to admit, his resolve slowly breaking more and more, like a pickaxe chipping away at a piece of obsidian before he couldn't, no wouldn't take the taunting anymore.
He slide out of bed, testing to see if he could reach them, which somehow he could despite not even being able to the first time he'd woken up, and slowly picked one up to inspect it, sitting do on his knees right beside the tray.
The diamond sparkled in the faint light of the room, the glisteningly clear blue a stark contrast to the blandness of the room, smooth and pearlescent at the same time, drawing him in with a way only this shiny gem could.
Sniffing it delicately, he brought it fully up to his face and just shoved the entire thing into his mouth, enjoying the crunchy goodness of the delicious, perfect crystal that used to be in his hands, hands that were perfect for picking up the others as well.... Shoot. His mind already was starting to slip into that of an allay mindset. He growled softly at himself before picking up another one and eating that one too with a content sigh, leaning against the nearby wall that he found he could reach as well.
As he ate more and more, his brain felt fuzzier and fuzzier.
There were 6 diamonds left.
Now 3.
Now 2.
Now.. 1.
He wanted it so, so badly. It hurt him to just see it lying there, all alone without any of its friends that he had eaten... He picked it up slowly, going to eat the last one as well before he heard a pop sound from somewhere in the room. He turned slowly, head tilted to the side before he noticed... another diamond? Huh? Getting up, he fluttered over to it and picked it up as well, noticing another one behind him in the process.
His head still tilted in confusion, he goes to pick that one up as well, a comfortable fuzz that he still hadn't noticed settling over his brain as he slowly slipped smaller and smaller.
By the time he made it over to the newest diamond, he was still clutching the first two but tighter now, chittering happily at himself as he picked that one up as well.
The chain had long slipped off his wrist, but not a single thought about it was going through Scar's mind. All he could think about now was the diamonds that started to show up around the room. He picked up diamond after diamond until he had about 8 or 9 in his hand, trilling softly as he settled down in the bed to look at the things he had scavenged.
Oh, these things were so pretty. What were they called again? Eh, it didn't matter. Man, was it warm. And cozy. And soft...
He startled abruptly when the door to his room opened. Grabbing the diamonds, he zoomed up into the air, trying to identify to threat before relaxing at the sight of a human.
....Maybe that wasn't a human. The wings out of his back looked like those of a... hmm, vex maybe? Weird.
As the weird human held out a hand, Scar fluttered closer to see what was in it and trilled happily at the sight of another diamond. He went down to pick it up before he was gently grabbed by the human's freehand, which caused him to drop the diamonds he was holding to cling onto the hand. A thumb gently rubbed at his forehead, which he gladly leaned into before he noticed they human was moving out of the door.
He didn't complain, just clung onto the human, and slowly the feeling of the finger lulled him to sleep again. He chirped out a soft complaint before finally falling asleep, the feeling of.. something not being right the only thing he had to worry about.
