Ceremony
(I'm doing the coming-of-age ceremony as I perceive it with enderman and I'm sorry if I offend anyone by doing this)
It was time. It was time for enderman, friends and family to gather for the coming-of-age ceremony. A waste of time if you ask Ranboo.
You see, once an enderman had reached a certain age, they had to attend a ceremony to be welcomed into adulthood and anyone that knew the enderman was welcomed to the ceremony as equals, regardless of your species. This was one of the only reasons Ranboo even tolerated the little ceremony, because there was no other way to bring people together since that would only result in bloodshed and tears.
The ceremony in itself basically makes you turn into the older you. Many other enderman had under gone this transformation and had turned out normal, but Ranboo was scared of a few things, not getting accepted, turning into a freak and overall not being so say 'normal.' But what was normal anymore? Nothing was normal or perfect yet people thought they had the right to categorise people as normal and perfect. It scared the boy witless at the thought.
Ranboo was currently sitting on the roof of his house, his body completely black with purple eyes, nothing out of the normal for a young enderman or, any enderman really. Ranboo avoided his friends and family, aware the ceremony he was meant to attend was going to start soon.
He just sat on his roof, out of sight, scenarios playing in his head over and over again, making the boy coward slightly with each thought that passed.
However, he eventually got dragged down to his ceremony by one of his fellow enderman who had managed to locate him. They dressed him up in a very baggy suit that he was going to grow into once he grew up with very big shoes and had been given a red tie to put around his neck and to tie to be reasonably loose so he didn't strangle himself from how tight he out it.
Once he had been dressed he got teleported to the door of the ceremony, he could already hear the cheesy music playing inside, no matter how much he tried to block it out.
He really didn't want to walk down the isle with everyone hes ever known peering at his small form, and speaking of small, Ranboo was also a midget compared to everyone else, even if he was young. He was scared, once he was grown up, he wouldn't be as tall as everyone else and he would be made fun of, but that's nothing new to be honest.
With as much courage as the small enderman could muster, he walked through the doors, keeping his eyes trained on the floor infront of him to hopefully avoid the gaze of everyone looking at him.
He soon heard snickering, he tried refusing the sudden urge to look up but curiosity got the best of him, making him look up and seeing, Tommy, Wilbur, Techno and Phil (or Dadza as he was more commonly known and called) were looking at him, Tommy bring the source of the snickering but was promptly hit on the back of his head by Wilbur to shut him up to which it did.
Ranboo met the small family one day when he had gotten lost in the woods on his way back to his house. He had been taken in by the group of men and was given food, shelter and rest until he managed to get home. The boy wasn't very talkative when he first encountered the family considering not many species were friendly, but he was taken in without hesitation. As time progress, he got more comfortable around all of them to the point Ranboo considered them family. He soon came to find out that Tommy, Wilbur and Techno were Phil's adopted sons. It surprised the small boy considering they all acted like good friends but accepted the fact nonetheless.
He spent about a week in their house before he was able to locate his home, but, he was already so close to the family that he felt like the least he could do was take some time out of his day every once in a while to visit them.
Ranboo spent a lot of time with the family to the point they often joked that Ranboo was adopted by Phil. They usually laughed it off but the boy wondered what it would be like to actually be apart of the family but he tried to not pay too much mind to it.
When he was round their house, he hung out with all of them for the time he was there, even if it was for just a minute. He usually stayed with Techno the most since he was the quietest of the four and since Ranboo didn't like to talk much. The two would usually just sit in silence as the other did something. They were oddly very close but they didn't seem to mind, although it got to the point the other could guess their thoughts. It freaked Wilbur, Tommy and Phil out a lot. But other than that, he was rather close with all the members of the chaotic family.
Ranboo smiled at the family as he passed them, receiving a smile from Wilbur, Techno and Phil with a small nod as well as a thumbs up from Tommy who was practically running on the spot.
As he stepped up to the podium, words were said and things were done but the boy didn't pay attention to all the boring details, he was just waiting for the transformation to begin. Surely it wouldn't be that bad... right? He was sure he would turn out like the rest of the enderman before him but he couldn't help but worry at the slight chance something goes wrong.
But he didn't have long to ponder on his thoughts as the transformation had began to take place, causing a light to cover his small figure. Making Ranboo close his eyes at the light.
He changed drastically. He grew, like any normal enderman would but he didn't stop at the normal height, he grew a few inches more before stopping. As he grew, he got a tail as well. It poked out the back of Ranboo through his trousers, his trousers making a hole for it to go through as it started to grow longer. He also grew hair which was totally out of the ordinary for a normal enderman considering they don't grow hair at all. He also got elf like ears as well which was rather strange too, enderman just have small holes in the sides of their heads for their hearing, not actual ears. Aside from ears, he also had small horns protruding from his head, mirroring the colours on his face.
As the light that encased his being faded, it became apparent that half of his body was white with his new found hair half white as well with the small tuff of fur at the end of his newly grown tail containing a bit of white as well.
People that were at the ceremony started to murmur behind him, exchanging looks of disgust and words of hate. The slight noise caused the boys ear to twitch and made him open his eyes, revealing a beautiful pair of green and red eyes. They looked like an emerald and ruby glistening in the well lit room.
The boy looked up but was a bit confused when he didn't meet the eyes of his fellow enderman instead, looked down and saw the gaping mouth of the enderman that had brought him there.
He raised a brow, turning around and looking at the crowd who shared looks of confusion, disgust and mild anger. Ranboo picked up small bits of what the different mobs were saying, meeting a few glances and stares as he did so.
Freak. Monster. How did that happen? Why does he look like that? He isn't normal. What is he? And the list goes on. The thing that Ranboo failed to notice were the looks of happiness and curiosity he received from the Sleepy Bois Inc family.
Tommy had stars in his eyes as he looked at the tall boy. He was fascinated at what his non-biological brother had turned into. Phil looked happy and somewhat relieved, he was glad nothing went wrong and that his not official son was alright, same with Techno but as a brother. Wilbur was just chilling, although a bit interested in what his close friend, basically brother, had turned into.
Ranboo looked down at the ground, hands gripping eachother infront of him, his tail flicking behind him in slight annoyance and sadness
The continuous insults and muttering became too much for the poor boy, causing him to teleport away unknowingly from the stressful event leaving wisps of purple particles in his wake, slowly drifting to the ground before turning into nothing.
No one dared say a word once the boy left, despite having the will to do it. Guilt washed over a few of the mobs as they realised why the boy teleported away while a good handful just sat there in silence with disgusting thoughts of the boy flashing through their minds.
After a while, however, mobs had slowly started to file out of the room, soon leaving the SBI family in the now empty room. They all looked at eachother before exchanging nods, setting off to find the distressed boy.
While with Ranboo, he had teleported away to the edge of a small lake, the edges of the lake being encased in a couple rows of trees with a small clearing at one end of it where Ranboo was standing, a fallen log standing just behind him.
The boy sighed to himself, standing at the waters edge for a moment, hesitating to look at what he had become. He held his breath, looking at the mirror like water, being met with what others saw. He scanned his face, opening his mouth, finding sharp teeth on the inside. He traced the border of black and white down his face, stopping at the base of his neck. The boy ran his hand through his hair, the texture a little bit peculiar to the teen but that was to be expected as he had never felt hair before despite being curious about it.
Ranboo looked down at his clothes, sighing in relief when he found none of his clothes ripped. The boy was rather glad that his clothes fit and didn't rip when he was there, that would probably be the thing that would tip him over the edge, the embarrassment would've probably been too much for the boy in that situation, thank god they didn't rip or tear.
As Ranboo stood, he felt a slight brushing as his ankles, he turned his head to be met with a tail. He was confused. Why does he have a tail?
He grabbed his tail and pulled it closer to inspect it. It wasn't anything special, it was just a really long tail which dragged at his feet that ended with a bit of black and white tuff of fur. He let it go, just looking at the water for a moment, it reflecting the sunset that had now started to fall over the horizon. He didn't bother looking up, instead, looking closer at the water infront of him, watching as the reds, oranges and yellows turned into dark blues and purples with random blue and red stars splattered on there at random.
He found it breath taking. Yes, he has been out after night fall but never had he taken the time to just take it all in and admire its beauty. But he was sure glad he is now. Its.....oddly relaxing if he thinks about it. Just standing there with no care in the world, watching as the sun set over the tall trees and the colours change.
A thought quickly popped into the teens head, sprouting curiousity into his being. He stepped closer to the water, soon lurching over its surface.
And if he could just- and just like that, his jaw unhinged, going down to the top of his chest just under his collar bone. He let out a sigh. The boy was glad he could still do that. But it was either him, but he was sure that something had changed. He guessed it was probably the sharp teeth making a difference to him as it made him look way more intimidating than he was previously. He pushed his jaw back up, setting his jaw back in place.
The teen looked behind him, seeing the usual fallen log behind him, taking a seat on it. He sat in silence for a minute before a rustle from behind him broke him from the deafening silence encasing his being.
Ranboo looked behind him, finding an exhausted Tommy and Wilbur with Techno and Phil beside them, a little out of breath themselves but otherwise looked fine. He watched as the small family all gathered around him, Techno to his right, Phil to his left with Tommy and Wilbur infront of him on either sides.
No one said a word, instead, watched the nature around them, light breathing being the only background noise other than the slight rustle of leaves.
They stayed like that for a while until Tommy and Wilbur had eventually fallen asleep, leaving the three on the log to be awake.
Phil spoke up, "you aren't a freak Ranboo, I hope you know that."
Ranboo hummed slightly, telling Phil he agreed but not one hundred percent, although Phil didn't pick it up.
"Phil's right you know, all those other mobs were wrong. They have no reason to call you any of those names because normal in their eyes in not normal in our eyes," Techno agreed, rubbing Ranboos shoulder in an attempt at comfort, taking his crown off his head and gently placing it on the teens head with his other.
Ranboo was surprised at the sudden gesture of kindness, subconsciously lifting a hand up to touch the crown. He knew Techno wasn't the best at comforting people and did it on really rare occasions especially. Ranboo felt....special to be one of the people Techno chose to comfort. It almost felt nice.
"Ya know Ranboo...." Ranboo perked up. "If you don't have any where to stay, you can always come hunker down with us. You're always welcome there, especially now. I bet Tommy would be happy if you decided to live with us." Phil offered, looking at the tall teen.
Ranboo thought for a moment. Sure he had been round their house before but that was only for a few hours and he didn't want to invade in on their privacy, they had already done so much for him and he wasn't sure how he would ever repay them. But that was something to think about another time. It isn't a good idea to be homeless because he didn't want to get wet from a potential storm. He could always think about finding a way to repay them later on.
"S-sure, as long as its ok" Ranboo stuttered, looking down at the older man.
Phil smiled, he shuffled along the log slightly, allowing the teen to rest his head in the mans lap, slowly removing the crown and putting it in a small bag that he had with him for extra items. Techno gave his crown to Ranboo for a reason so he probably wants Ranboo to keep it, he'll just have to check with Techno later. He slowly started to run his fingers through the teens hair, avoiding the horns as he did so.
Ranboo was a little confused at the gesture but quickly got what the meaning was and almost instantly melted into the mans touch, his tail wagging behind him slowly as he slowly drifted off to sleep.
The man giggled softly at the teens unwilling actions, looking up to meet the gaze of Techno. Phil used his wings to push the piglin hybrid over to where the father figure sat until he was eventually resting against the back of the child which rested at the older mans feet.
Phil used his wings as a blanket and covered all of them with it to keep them warm, snuggling against his wings as well.
The sleep deprived pig soon fell asleep like Ranboo and the other two had, only leaving the oldest of the five awake.
Phil chuckled.
"What am I going to do with all you chaotic bunch..... what am I gonna do...."
