~Chapter 5~
You woke up groggily and relaxed. You couldn't remember anything past the first AU well from last night. All you knew at the moment was that you were hella comfy and there was a lot less available room on your bed. You opened your eyes slowly, your face still buried in your pillow. Well, you thought it was your pillow.
You lifted your head, thinking you'd see your plain (F/C) pillow but you were instead met with the image of your dimension-traveling friend's chest. He slept peacefully, his arm curled behind you and your torso propped over his.
Blushing intensely, you covered a squeal as you fell out of bed. You landed hard on your back, hissing to yourself as you momentarily went numb. Ink shot into an upright position, concern and confusion in his eyes. His mismatched eyes had changed into exclamation points as he scanned the room for someone.
"What?! What happened?" He asked.
You groaned as you rubbed your tailbone. Your entire rear was already sore from the fall, now your back was hurt too. Ink scrambled from the bed, helping you stand as you whimpered over your hurting bones. "So much for 'good morning.' It's more like 'let me paralyze you with gravity.' Thanks life." You muttered.
Ink chuckled quietly at your sarcasm. "Are you okay? You'll live?"
You smirked, stretching carefully. You were still wearing you clothes from the previous day. "Yeah, I'm not that easy to kill."
Ink smiled. "Well that's good. If it was that easy, I wouldn't be able to rely on you with our plan."
You rolled your eyes and walked lazily from the room, hand still cradling the small of your back. You slipped into the kitchen and rummaged around the box of medicine you kept on the top shelf of the med cabinet. The first painkillers you found, you popped two into your mouth and put the rest back.
Swallowing them dry, you trudged to the fridge and grabbed milk for cereal. Ink trailed into the room behind you as you grabbed a spoon for your quick meal.
"Go ahead and pour yourself some cereal. I'm eating at the table if you want to join me."
Ink nodded and you took you seat. The wooden chair was cold, but at least the chill would help wake you up. You ate the Cheerio like cereal quietly, trying your best to recollect what happened the night before. You knew there hadn't been anything major but it would bother you not to know.
As you thought Ink took a pace across from you, his own bowl in front of him. Your mind droned on dully.
So we were talking about UnderTale, right? Then it was the one with hip-hop and stuff. DanceTale! And the last one was UnderFell. I must have fallen asleep during that one.
...
When did I get to my room?!
Wait... wait....!
Your eyes snapped upwards towards the happily eating skeleton. "Hold up! Why were we sleeping in the same bed?!" You asked in a squealish tone.
Ink jumped back at your sudden outburst, a rainbow blush painting his cheekbones. You weren't mad about it, in fact it'd happened before with blueberry, but it was definitely offsetting. Even of it was an accident, you'd only just met the guy!
"It wasn't anything like... that. You fell asleep while I was talking about the UnderFell universe! I just carried you to bed."
"How did you know which one was mine?" You inquired, feeling like you already knew.
"You told me."
Your face reddened further and you let your hair curtain your face. "Let me guess, I asked you to stay because you were warm?" You guessed, almost whispering at that point.
"Actually yeah! So rememeber?"
You shook your head, groaning. You let your head hit the table, causing some milk to splash on you. "No... I've done it before..." You admitted.
"Oh!" Ink laughed. "I'm guessing BlueBerry?"
You nodded. "Yeah. He takes way too good care of me when I'm out of it. And he's well aware I'm like a heat leech but he still let's me do it..."
Still hiding your face, you stood quietly and dumped the rest of your cereal down the sink's grinder. "I think I'll go get a shower." You said quietly, quickly evacuating from the room.
Ink watched you curiously as you fled. He understood why it was awkward, waking up on someone you'd just met, but it had happened before right? Maybe it was the new person part.
You shook your head, pulling the hood of your jacket over your face and closing the strings so your nose was the only clearly visible thing. You entered your private bathroom and turned on the water, leaving it to heat.
Retreating to your closet, you selected a simple attire of black skinny jeans and a loose, black tank top, of course accompanied by your favorite (F/C) hoodie. You unfolded the clothing and left made your bed, leaving the unfolded clothes on top of the tucked sheets. Just because you looked like all your fucks flew away doesn't mean you didn't run run a tight ship.
Walking back to the bathroom, the small shower was covered in warm steam and the water was heated to the perfect temperature. You disrobed quickly and stepped into the shower. For a few minutes you just let the water hit your face, clearing your thoughts as though it was the dirt on your skin. You massaged shampoo and conditioner in your hair, moving swiftly through the usual shower procedures. When you were done, the scent of Cherry blossom filled the room.
Sighing into the warm blanket of steam, you wrapped a towel around you and exited the bathroom. You made sure your door was closed and dropped the towel so it was only wrapped around your waist. You put on your bra and tank top swiftly, dropping the towel the rest of the way. You slipped on your plain white panties and were reaching for your jeans when you heard the door click behind you.
You turned around quickly, holding the jeans in your hands. Your gaze met with Ink's and both of your faces lit with blush. Silence pursued for a moment and you cleared your throat. "So, uh, hi..." You said awkwardly.
Ink blinked a few times and shook his head. Suddenly ten times as flustered, you retreated from the doorway and turned his back. "S-Sorry (Y/N)! I should've knocked."
You laughed uneasily and put on your pants, throwing your pants over your arm. "It's okay Ink! I should've remembered to actually LOCK the door. Sadly, this has happened before too."
You walked behind him, his back still turned to you. Smiling gently, still blushing, you tapped his shoulder. He jumped about three feet and turned to you.
Snickering, you rolled your eyes. "What did you want?" You asked kindly.
He cleared his throat and gained a bit of his composure. Ink turned to you completely and spoke. "I just wanted to ask when you wanted to head out. You said last night you'd have to meet with Chara to continue down the story line so..."
You nodded. "I... I'll text her. Don't worry about it. Sorry for flashing my sexy legs at you." You teased.
He blushed again, rubbing a hand over the back of his skull. You both laughed, ending with genuine smiles. You really enjoyed having another skeleton around. You and Chara only reset when something bad happened, like someone started a war... or an accident took someone's life. But you couldn't help but wish for something new every time you fell back down that ginormous hole. Yes, the order in which you fell changed every time but that only affected the timeline so much. You were thankful for a friend that didn't bend to the rules of a timeline.
You pulled out your phone and plopped down onto your couch, pulling up your messages.
Y/N: Hey Chara, when do you wanna head out?
It didn't take but a few seconds for her to reply.
Chara: Let me buy some stuff from the shop in town, then I'll come by the house. We'll meet there for a bit then leave.
Y/N: Look at you being all prepared and stuff.
Chara: Shut up. I'm samrt
Y/N: Apparently not. That's not how you spell SMART ya dingus.
Chara: "Ya" isn't proper English.
Y/N: Neither is "samrt." Besides, I don't speak English. I speak the rare language of Y/N. Not many understand it.
Chara: ...loser.
Y/N: and proud ;P
You set your phone aside and sat up on your couch, turning on your small box television. You'd salvaged it from the junk at the bottom of the waterfall. Undyne helped you fix it up.
On the television, Napstablook was cooking messily, batter flying everywhere and skillet on fire. Yet he looked like it was all planned. You rolled your eyes and stood to retrieve your sketchbook from your room.
The television still droning on, you plopped down with your sketchbook anf pencils and started to draw a chibi version of the famous Medusa. Your cheek was propped on your nondominant hand as you drew sickeningly cute character.
"Hey, that's really good."
You jumped, dropping your pencil as you whipped around. Ink stood, leaning over the back of the couch, examining your drawing. "I never thought I'd see a gorgon as cute."
You shrugged nonchalantly and closed the sketchbook. "Nah, that one's not any good. If my sketchbooks survived the resets I'd be able to show decent work."
You yawned and stretched over the couch. "Chara's meeting us here by the way. You'll have to entertain yourself for a bit." You announced.
"Okay, what do you want to do?" He asked.
You shrugged. "I'm probably just gonna relax, maybe a walk. Chara takes FOREVER picking out supplies so we'll have quite the bit of time."
Nodding your head, you mentally made up your mind. "Actually, I think I'll go out. If I hit up Undyne right now then we can go immediately into the plan. It'll save time."
You darted to your feet and slipped on your black converse. You left your hoodie tied around you waist since you were in Hotlands and unlike Papyrus, you weren't a skeleton that was prone to temperature. You swung the door open and grabbed your keys. Your eyes looked back, finding Ink still looking at your sketchbook.
"Hey Ink, you coming?" You asked.
He looked at you and raised a brow. "You want me to come with you?"
You snorted. "You act like the idea is insane. You are my friend aren't you? And you are a key part to getting Error? Yes, you're coming."
You tossed the keys to him and smiled. "Lock the door behind us."
Turning your back, you started an easy jog towards the lab. You didn't notice when Ink grabbed your sketchbook, hiding it within his attire.
Less than ten minutes later you arrived at the lab, Ink at your side. Knocking twice, the lab door opened and you walked in.
"Undyne! Hey Undyne I need you!" You bellowed, waiting for your red-haired friend to appear.
You watched a pile of notes fall over and Undyne sat behind it, reaching uselessly as it fell. You darted to ten he pile and saved the stack, lifting it off her cluttered desk and setting it against a clear wall.
"You should really digitize your work Undyne, otherwise you'll end up loosing it all in a paper avalanche."
"I know, I know... I'll get around to it."
No she won't.
You rolled your eyes and put your weight into one hip. "Come on ya nerd, I wanted to ask a favor."
She nodded happily, moving around her stacks of notes. In her new, clearer perspective she saw Ink and she furrowed her brow. "Blueberry? Did you get taller... and paint-ier?"
Ink waved shyly and you smiled. "Don't worry Undyne, Ink is harmless. Some, uh, stuff happened and he's helping out."
She eyed him curiously. "You look an awful lot like Sans."
You laughed uncomfortably. "They're... brothers! Yep! Fresh outta the void this one is."
Undyne clearly didn't believe you but she let it sliding seeing as you were trying so hard to keep it a secret. "Anyway, what can I do for you?" She asked.
"I wanted to see if you had an upgraded phones avaliable. Chara never got her upgrades so we're one short. We're getting a lot closer to the castle so we're probably gonna need to those abilities."
Undyne smiled. "Yeah, I have a few in my lab. I'll go get them for you. You and Ink stay here."
You nodded and thanked her. As she left your started to walk around, poking through her notes. You didn't officially work with her but you occasionally helped with experiments. You hummed quietly, shuffling through a few reports from more recent experiments.
You heard Ink laugh and looked up. "What's so funny?" You asked.
He motioned to the spiral book in his hands. "It's this comic. It's so perfectly idiotic." He explained.
You stood up and looked over his shoulder at the book. Blushing immediately upon recognizing the comic, you tried to snatch it away.
"Why do you have my sketchbook?!" You cried.
"Well you were fine with me looking at it earlier." He explained.
"Because you were looking at recent stuff! I don't show people my early work!"
He held the book just out of your reach. "Give it back you asshat!" You growled.
You jumped again as he laughed, still thumbing through the drawings. You jumped on repeat, not noticing as your jacket fell from your hips.
Your foot came down on the fabric of the jacket. Your heart stopped as it slid, and your entire body fell forward. In an instant, you went from trying to snatch your book to falling over Ink.
He fell beneath you, landing on his back. You squeezed your eyes shut as gravity once again attacked you. Something about it seemed to hate you today.
When you finally remained still, you opened your eyes and saw Ink below you. His face was painted rainbow as he looked up at you. You looked down at yourself to see you straddled his pelvis, hands supporting your on either side of his face. Your face lit to the hue of rubies and you released a quiet squeak.
"Oh my God Ink.... I'm so sor-"
"SQEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
