~Chapter 17~
Somewhere deep in your mind, there was a version of you that was screaming and clawing to get out. There was, hidden away, a seed of hope that you'd spare the lot of people you'd trapped with your corrupted clutch. But that version of you was dying, flickering away like a candle wick slowly eating away at its limited oxygen.
One by one, you passed judgement on them. Most of them, as you expected, were useless and annoying. They were filthy waste of space, not worthy to exist. Most of them pled for mercy, but you didn't even have it as an option anymore. You had only one objective, to clean away the scum of the world, then clean your own existence. It wouldn't remain cleaned after you died, but at least for a little bit it would be pure.
It wasn't your fault this was happening. It was Error's fault. And Ink's! Ink was always creating excess data. It was disgusting! And Error was hopelessly ineffective. His plans were flawed and useless in the end. Ink always prevailed.
Your thoughts dwelled as your inkling creature tried to swipe another defendant. Had anything good come on Ink since you met him? Did you even remember meeting him?
Your brow furrowed as you tried to think, but corrupted files could not load tainted memorizes. Just glimpses...
You sucked in a sharp breath as the image of your hands, at the time still void of corruption, scrolled over a page. You growled at this past self. "Useless!" You barked aloud. "This doodling means nothing to existence! I'm useless!"
You paused, processing again. "At least... I was useless...."
You turned towards your prey and grinned in a sinister fashion before stumbling. This one was familiar. It was a Chara, but she held no blade or murderous intent. It was like the opposite of the main game's incarnation. Your locked away heart skipped, and for a split second you wanted to cry out to her. You instead shook your head and stepped towards her. Her hands shook, but she seemed otherwise confident. "What is your purpose for existence?" You asked without a falter in tone. "Why should I let you live?"
"I'm useless." Chara said, the words loud and echoing, silencing the other remaining people. "I am Chara, of UnderSwap. I serve no purpose to the overall game. But you won't kill me." She said, not like an order, but like a fact.
Your face burned as you darted towards her with a blade in hand. With one hand you grabbed her shoulder roughly and pressed the blade to her neck. Your muscles stalled. When you spoke again, it was little more than a hushed whisper. "And who says I won't?" You hissed, the blade just light enough not to break skin yet.
"Because you didn't." She says almost pridefully.
Your eyes darted to meet hers, expecting to meet her cocky gaze but instead watching as she fought back tears. She smiled, but it was slow, almost sad. "I knew you wouldn't hurt me... my big sister is still in there isn't she? It's not much, but she's there."
You fell back, startled by her emotion then snarled. Gripping the blade in your palm, you prepared to charge. "Die you damned brat!" You growled.
As soon as you got within one inch you saw the flicker of magic before she disappeared. Your knife cut through the air with a neat shink then stilled. You whipped around, looking for her. With a wave of your hand, your creature dissolved and spread thin over the anti-void ground.
"Find that UnderSwap brat! I'm going to slaughter her!" I barked.
"Oh come on kid! Just cus she steals all the food doesn't make her that bad kid." A more lax tone interupted.
An animalistic grunt escaped you as you turned. You saw an orange hoodie cloaked over a tall skeleton. He removed a cigarette from his mouth and blew a neat ring of smoke. You found yourself extremely annoyed by his smoking, much less his toying with you. "Put that out now!" You snapped without meaning.
"Yep, same (Y/N)..." he shrugged, flicking aside the cigarette and disappearing just as Chara had.
"(Y/N)?" You repeated, another image glancing past your eyes. The syllables felt familiar on your tongue, rolling out with ease but sounding as though it was a new word entirely.
A new scenario played behind your eyelids, like an old yellowed video. Your eyes opened slowly and you saw a dark room, across the room laid a soundly sleeping child you recognized as Chara, and a sweet scent wafted in the air. On the floor sat two slices of a warm, brown pie. "You smelled it too, right (Y/N)?" Chara asked, ending the image.
Another one followed seconds later. A snowy area surrounding you and Chara and you held out your palm to a shadowed monster, before the sound of flatulence intrrupted the quiet. "Classic whoopee cushion in the hand trick." He chuckled.
I grit my teeth as I looked up. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" I barked, whipping around to target the two intruders.
But no one was there.
Your face fell, the antivoids floor black by the ink of your creature and the far horizon seeming to go on forever. No one was there. All the prisoners. The two intruders. Not even Error's dust seemed to remain. A tear welled in your eye as a sense of fear weighed over you. "WHAT IS THIS?!" You hissed.
"It's kinda lonely isn't it?" A calmer, new voice asked. He sounded concerned, but gentle. "I guess it must have gotten to you..."
You turned slowly, seeing him and your throat clenching. It was all his fault. He did this. That dirty fucking Gl-łi-ïtch...
"Y-You... you đįď thïş ţø mə..." You sputtered, speech broken. Insanity leaked from your fountainous tears and wide grin. In bright, multicolored letters the word 'Loading Error...' plastered your body. Your tears stained your face with blue lines.
Ink stood before you, his body rigid as he looked at you. You fell to your knees and began to laugh. You felt so useless. So... like your predecessor... that damned glitch. It was disgusting.
"(Y/N)... you look so..." Ink started to speak, but he couldn't finish his thought. The ink bubbled beneath him and you screamed, shooting the liquid towards him without hesitance, aiming for the kill. It barreled towards him but with a simple swipe it dissolved into liquid and splattered back down.
You froze, gritting your teeth and doing it again. "Ýøų'řə fąűłţ!¡!" You screeched, attacking him with all your might but each stroke dissolving against him. Not a single droplet stained him.
Your breath was shaking horribly. "Ý-ýøų đïđ ţhî§!¡" You snapped.
"I know." He muttered, quietly but still. You hesitated and he took a step forward. "Come on (Y/N)... my friend is still in there. My (Y/N) is still in there." He cooed.
"§ţøp!!! Đôņ'ţ çømë çłø§əř!" You warned.
From your sleeve dropped your knife, the blade gleaming as you brandished it towards Ink. You choked on your breath but you still heard your objective in your mind, clearer than the deafening sound of the rest of it. It was outspoken compared to a million booming voices. None of them were words, but muffled like being heard through a wall. When you blinked you saw fractions of fractured memories.
They didn't feel like your memories though. It felt like you were looking at the world through someone else's eyes. In truth, you were. Those memories were seen through (Y/N)'s eyes, not yours.
"Please (Y/N). Let me help you. Let me fix the mistake I made. You deserve to go home and be happy." Ink pled.
The instant he said home your face fell. You felt a numbness wash over your body and your mind was silent for a moment. "Home..." you whispered.
Your voice was normal and Ink's face seemed to lighten immediately. His pace quickened and he moved towards you. The life seemed to drain from the ink beneath you as he fell to his knees in front of you. Your eyes were locked to the ground. His hands gently held your shoulders. "It's my fault this happened to you." Ink muttered. "I'll fix it."
"You're right..." you said bluntly, lifting your eyes to meet his. "It is your fault... ýøų fîłţhý ğłįţçh."
You lunged at him in a fluid motion. The blade spun in your arm as you swiped at him. His eyes widened as he fell back, barely dodging the assault. The ink burst to life, shackling Ink's legs and limiting his movement. His hand bent behind him and he tried to retrieve his paintbrush but you acted quickly.
Planting a foot on his chest you shoved him down and the brush sputtered away. Your legs straddled over Ink as you lifted the blade.
You cackled as you threw the knife down towards him. But you froze, a mere inch above him. You growled as you tried again but the same result. "W-What?!" You stuttered, your voice broken in tears. "Why? Why can't I k-kill you?!"
"Because (Y/N) won't let you." Ink said confidently. "I was counting on it."
"Huh?!" He turned pickly, pinning you instead as he yelled out, "Now!"
Several portals opened and through walked a multitude of monsters, the copies Ink had saved, with glowing letters floating before them. They circled you and Ink, a select few stepping closer and taking hold of your arms. More specifically, a skeleton in orange, a nice girl named Chara, and a scared seeming blueberry.
"Ģəţ øff øf mĕ!"
"This is going to hurt." Ink warned, digging up an item from his pocket. "Please forgive me (Y/N)."
You glimpsed the item before he shoved it against your chest and pain ripped through you. Your soul appeared over your chest, dripping in darkened, ooze-like corruption. The object, looking much like an eraser, absorbed into your soul and your mind burst with painful images. You screamed as an influx of memories crowded your mind and thousands of words screamed to you simultaneously.
Your body began to lighten but the pain lingered. Ink motioned something to the many people present and soon everything went blank. Your body went numb and your mind went blank as uniform words echoed through your head.

Without your choosing, continue glimmered and you closed your eyes again. Everything, and everyone disappeared.

You jumped awake, sitting on the couch of the skelebros. Your heart was beating fast, but you couldn't remember why. It felt like you had just woken up from a bad dream.
"Come on sissy! Are we gonna do this or not?" Chara groaned, two plates of chocolate sitting on the table before you.
"What?" You asked, head swimming as you looked around.
The dream seemed fuzzy now, but it was slowly slipping away. You tried to grasp from details, but all you remembered was the vague glimpse of a monster. He seemed similar to the skelebros, but something about him felt special to you. You felt like he meant something more to you.
"Earth to (Y/N)! Wanna come back down so we can do this?" Chara teased, elbowing you in the side.
"Do what?" You asked.
"The chocolate eating competition. The one you staked twenty bucks on. Wow, you really are out of it." Chara laughed.
"I must be..." you muttered, smiling evilly as you poked Chara's side. "Because there's no way I'd bet money on a rigged bet."
Chara hollered with laughter as Papyrus walked by the couch. He tried to snag the twenty you left on the table but you got to it first and stuffed it in your wallet. "Too slow." You teased.
Paps chuckled and flicked at a cigarette, which you snapped away and growled at. "Paps, smoking." You growled.
He rolled his eyes and stomped out the cigarette just as Sans called from the kitchen with a loud scream. Your eyes widened as you rushed in, locating him asap. "Blueberry!" You gasped.
You found him in front of a fallen tray of taco shells, holding a hand against himself. You relaxed visibly as you approached him. For some reason, burning himself seemed almost good. "You forgot to use your mit again?" You guessed, grabbing one from the counter to retrieve the hot pan from the floor.
"HOW DID YOU KNOW?!" Sans asked in his usual, loud tone.
You giggled, picking up the whole shells and putting them on the tray once more. "Lucky guess."
He pouted, but you just giggled and patted his head. "Come on Blue, let's get dinner out there before Chara fills up on chocolate."
"OKAY!!!" He chirped, setting to work with renewed vigor. You retrieved five plates and set them on the counter with two shells each, Sans following as he filled each shell.
"Um, (Y/N)?" Sans said in a gentle tone.
"Yes Blueberry?" You repsonded with vague interest.
"You've made an extra plate." He pointed out, his tone for some reason being quieter.
"Oh, huh. I guess I did." You giggled.
You smiled and brought the plate to the table, but something felt off. It felt like someone was missing. The four of you: Paps, Chara, Sans and you sat but the table had one other chair. You stared at it for a moment, ignoring your food while the others dug in.
"(Y/N)? Is something wrong? You keep spacing out." Paps asked.
You blinked a few times then laughed. "Sorry, I guess I just didn't sleep much last night." You reported. "I'm gonna get some water real quick. I'll be back."
As you entered the kitchen, your body moved robotically. You retrieved the cup and filled it without thinking and walked briskly back to the table. Smiling, you began to speak. "I'm back! Taco tim-"
You were interupted as a portal ripped open before you. Your heart skipped a beat as a monster stumbled through, knocking into you. You yelped as the water splattered over the monster and you fell to the ground with them over you.
It took a moment to process, but after you did you recognized the monster vaguely. "It's you..." You muttered, peering at a skelton who appeared to be splattered by miscellaneous ink blots.
He blinked a few times while looking at you before breaking into a huge grin. "(Y/N)! You're okay!" He cried, wrapping you in his arms.
Your face erupted in red as he held you close. Chara snickered with Sans as Paps shook his head. "W-Who are you?" You stuttered.
The monster jumped back a little, then laughed. "Oh... yeah."
He stood then offered you a hand. Hauling you to your feet, you both stumbled for words.
'Don't worry (Y/N)! It's not like a cute monster fell on you or anything!'
In your panicked thoughts, Paps spoke up, placing a hand on Ink's shoulder. "Sorry about that (Y/N). This is my pal Ink. I've told him all about you and your art. He's been itching to meet you forever." He explained.
"Oh!" You chirped. "But... it's not that good though... my art that is..."
You looked down, trying desperately to figure out why you felt so flustered. "That's not true!" Ink blurted. "Your art is amazing! You're amazing!"
Your face deepened in shade and you tried to smile without looking like a dope. "Well, that makes one person who thinks so..." you joked. Offering your hand to him, you introduced yourself. "My name is (Y-Y/N). Excuse my stuttering."
Ink took your hand slowly within his own. Twisting it, he brought his head down to your hand and pecked it before looking back up at you. "My name is Ink." He echoed. "I hope things go better this time."
"This what?" You asked.
