~Chapter 1~

It'd been four months since you'd seen another person. Error left you in this blank dimension as a way of torture, trying to break you will so you'd be a better puppet. You'd never been that easy to control though, so it was just prolonged solitary confinement.

You missed Chara, and Paps, and Sans, and everyone else. Sometimes you'd walk around the empty space to see if you ever found anything, but the blank space just seemed to go on forever.

5 months...
8 months...

Finally a year had passed. You knew because everyday that passed, you left a cut on your thigh. It wasn't because you enjoyed it, but the cut were shallow and they lasted. Three hundred and sixty-five cuts later you'd almost given up.

Your days were filled with endless wondering on repeat. You hadn't heard another person in so long, you began to forget the voices of even your friends. You sat silently with your blade, twisting it around your fingers in a sort of dance. You'd gotten good with the tool. Other than using it to keep track of the days, you performed tricks with it often. But now the tricks seemed worthless, just another dull distraction.

A silent tear rolled down your cheek but you didn't bother to wipe it away. Occasionally an image floated across your memory. Sometimes it was a child, they wore a green and yellow sweater. Their hair was short and beige, and their eyes were like rubies. You felt close to them, but as time passed, you forgot their name among the names of others.

Sometimes you cried but you never knew why. You cried for hours without reason. Sometimes you sang to fill the ring of silence. Your voice may not of been your own, but who were you to say.

Slowly the cut grew over your entire body. Countless days passed, and the scars proved it. You gave up. Vague memories only made you cry. Your blade tricks did nothing to save you from the void in which you dwelled. You were hopeless.

<Time Skip>
It was loud and confusing. Words filled the air... But you didn't speak. Your eyes scanned the blank landscape to land on a new person. They were foreign and familiar at the same time. It was like you'd seen them before, but forgotten.

"(Y/N)!" He yelled, running towards you.

You looked at him with a blank expression. He was a skeleton. Odd. His eye sockets supported eyes using blue stars as pupils. He wore something that looked like armor and a bright blue scarf. He seemed battered.

He approached you but all you could do was stare blankly. His expression was full of an odd emotion... Concern maybe?

He said that name again. "(Y/N)?" He asked.

His eyes fixed on your skin and for some reason you wanted to hide the marks. For whatever reason, this person meant something to you.

"W-Who's that?" You asked.

That voice you recognized. It spoke broken words in a quiet tone. That was you.

The skeleton collapsed to his knees next to you and wrapped his arms around me. "Oh (Y/N)! What did he do to you?! Did you make these cuts? Did he hurt you?"

Vague images played in your mind but you didn't understand them. "They're the days." You said flatly. "They days I've been alone. Five hundred and twenty-seven today."

The skeleton gasped and sat next to you. "D-Did you forget us?" He asked.

You nodded, but it felt like a lie. "Who is (Y/N)?" You asked.

The skeleton smiled weakly. "That's you. Your name is (Y/N). And my name is Sans. But you call me Blueberry."

Certain memories came back and you furrowed your brow. "There are other skeletons. Who are they?" You asked.

Blueberry sighed. "I have a brother. He wears a orange hoodie and he's very tall. His name is Papyrus. But you and Chara call him Paps."

The image of a hoodie skeleton came to mind and you started piecing together memories. "Blueberry?" You asked.

"Yes (Y/N)?" He replied softly.

"Where are we? Why can't I remember my friends?" You asked. Your voice cracked and a tear rolled down your cheek.

Something in your chest hurt. It was wrong.

"S-Swap! Whe-Where di-d ya g-g-go budd-dy?!"

That one made you mad. The voice didn't seem friendly. You grabbed Blueberry's arm and held it against you protectively. He was important, you knew this.

A new skeleton appeared. He was like Blueberry. But he seemed cruel and cold. He looked at you and snarled.

"You reversed her progressed you idiot!" He yelled at Blueberry.

You crossed your arms, still holding on to Blueberry's arm. "Go away Error. I want to be with Blueberry." You hissed.

You didn't know where you got Error but the name seemed right. He recoiled from you. "How are you still sane?!" He gawked.

You looked for words and came up with two.

"I'm hallow." You said flatly, looking at him with dead eyes.

He growled. "She went bad. Now she's useless."

Blueberry wrapped his arms around you and squeezed you. Hug. More memories were surfacing. You put your head against Blueberry's neck and sighed.

"She's not useless Error! She's my friend!" Blueberry yelled.

"Puppets don't need friends." Error hissed.

A song came to mind and you sang in a slow and demented tone.

I've got no strings...
To hold me down...
To make me fret...
And make me frown...
I had some strings...
But now I'm free...
There ain't no strings on me...

Blueberry looked concerned with you.
"Please let me help her Error! You already took me away from my brother! Don't take away (Y/N) too."

Error laughed. "You forget! You're MY puppet! You don't give the orders."

Blue strings appeared all around you, latching on to both you and Blueberry. Your wrist were entangled and Blueberry started to leave with the tugs of the strings.

Error looked at you and cackled. "We'll come back for you if you ever get to the right point."

Something in you snapped. You moved quickly, the knife moving skillfully with your movements. The strings on you broke instantly and the blade was at Error's neck.

"I want to stay with Blueberry." You said softly, staring past Error at your blue friend.

He seems astonished by your actions. Error laughed as he dissolved. "Nice try. Until next time (Y/N)..."

Both him and blueberry fell to the disappeared and you fell to the ground. Sitting on your knees, limply, you stared at the blade. You wanted to remember that name. Your name. Using the knife like a pencil, you carved the letters of your name on you calf, deep enough to remain for many years.

This time the cut bled a lot. Blood dripped on to the white ground and your head fell to the side as you examined it. You tightly wrapped your, then looked at the blood. You pressed a finger and examined the metallic smelling liquid. I was... nice... seeing such a color in the vastness. You wrote names on the ground with the small pool of blood.

Papyrus.

Blueberry.

Chara.

(Y/N).

Someone fell on the names, making you frown. It was another skeleton but you didn't feel like you knew him. He was taller than Blueberry and his eyes were different. One eye was a ring of light blue, the other was a golden star. He wore basic beige clothing except for the blue sweater wrapped around his waist. A giant, ink-tipped paintbrush was strapped to his back. A sash held a variety of colors.

Your brow knit together as you looked at him. "I don't remember you. Have we met?" You asked quietly.

He looked at you and jumped back. "Wow! I thought this one was empty... Who are you?"

You pointed to you smudged name under him. He quickly jumped up and looked at the names.

"So you're (Y/N) huh? Welp, I'm Ink!Sans, but you can call me Ink."

He offered you a handshake but you ignored it was you spread more of the red puddle into the name Ink. His looked at you curiously as you stuck a finger under your bandage for more material. He grabbed you wrist roughly and looked at it.

"You're writing in blood?!" He asked, astonished.

You shrugged. "Why not. I don't have anything else to do. Error just took Blueberry away. I'm alone again."

You're tone was flat and Ink seemed confused. He grabbed your head and looked at you. "How long have you been here?" He asked.

"Five hundred and twenty-seven days alone. But I saw Blueberry and Error today. So I have to restart." You said.

Ink sat in front of you suddenly. "Wait, Error? Like Error!Sans? Black bones, crazy eyes..."

You nodded your head. "He brought me and Blueberry here from our home. But I'm not a good puppet yet so I'm alone."

Suddenly you were yanked to your feet. "Come on (Y/N), you need to get out of here. You're memories are deteriorating and you're loosing your spirit. You need to get back home."

"But Blue-"

"Blueberry is with Error, he won't let him dull."

You nodded mutely. "Where did you come from?" He asked.

"The Underground. I was at Paps and Blueberry's house with Chara."

Ink!Sans sighed. "Can you describe them?" He asked.

"Paps is a tall skinny skeleton. He wears black gym shorts all the time and had a orange hoodie. He smokes a lot, even when I try to stop him and he lives in Snowdin."

Ink nodded. "I think I know the AU. You came from UnderSwap."

You cocked your head to the side. "AU?"

"Alternate Universe. There's millions of AU's all based off of one base universe called Undertale. I made the AU's. Error sees them as glitches and wants to destroy them."

You furrowed your brows. "So you're like God to the non-original universes?"

He chuckled. "Sorta."

Using his paintbrush, a rift opened up to a warm blast of air. On the other side was a comfy looking living room with a child sitting on the couch. She seemed to be crying, clutching a sketchbook again her chest. You recognized the sketchbook as yours.

Ink grabbed you tight and stepped through the rift. Ripples passed over your mind as you entered the AU. Suddenly you breath caught in your throat as memories painfully filled your head. You collapsed against Ink and clutched you head, crying out in pain.

The child, Chara, whipped around and looked at you. "(Y-Y/N)?" She stuttered, jumping over the couch.

Ink put up a hand to stop her from rushing me. "(Y/N) is unstable, you have to give her a moment."

Chara looked at you cautiously. "What happened? It's almost been two years!"

Ink shook his head. "Someone terrible tried to break her. She'll be fine, she just needs to adjust."

You put a hand out and attempted to stand but failed miserably. Gravity left your body as Ink lifted you and placed you gently on the couch. You bobbed in and out of clear thought, eventually loosing to irrational thoughts. Your mind was throbbing and muddled.

"Tired.." You muttered, curling against the couch cushion.

A warm blanket fell on you and you drifted into a troubled sleep, the eyes of that damned skeleton haunting your dreams.
