The day of the exhibition arrived for Taehyung and Jeongguk sooner than anticipated. It had been almost two months since they had started but things had been going well for them. After they met at the event at Taehyung's pack, the couple tried their best to keep a low profile. They had limited their dates to Jeongguk's dorm room and rarely the cafe. As April arrived, their university workload only increased, giving the new couple hardships in meeting each other. Regardless, their encounters had been romantic, even though they had only occurred a few times a week and as the last week of March dawned, only once a week.
Taehyung missed Jeongguk. Jeongguk had become a part of his life that he now could never live without. However, they made sure to fill each other in about their daily activities with texts or calls. Besides, they saw each other often within the university premises, they only didn't have time to sit down and talk. The only days he had spent the night with Taehyung were the days when Taehyung stayed with Jimin and Hoseok to study with them in Jimin's dorm room. And he went over to Jeongguk's dorm at night and slept there.
Nevertheless, as the day of the grand exhibition approached, Taehyung got busy being the "Son of the Kim Pack's leader" and had many things he needed to take care of. After an exhausting week, the day of the exhibition arrived and excitement buzzed in the air. Packs from all over the country were gathered to showcase their proud histories, customs, and accomplishments.
This year, the event held great significance, not only as a celebration of heritage as it always was but also as an opportunity for Jeongguk to demonstrate his worth to Taehyung's parents. Taehyung couldn't help but feel a mixture of anticipation and nervousness as he walked through the bustling exhibition halls. His eyes darted from one exhibit to another, each pack showcasing their unique traditions and accomplishments. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with the sounds of joyful chatter and the vibrant colours of various displays. Taehyung's heart skipped a beat when he spotted Jeongguk across the room, surrounded by a group of alphas from different packs, engaged in deep conversations.
Taehyung walked towards him, a smile playing on his lips. Jeongguk and the other alphas who looked like they were around Taehyung's age stood in front of the largest picture in the current room. As Taehyung approached, the first one to notice his presence was Jeongguk, as expected. Then the other alphas also looked his way, their eyes widening as they looked Taehyung up and down, lips decorated with smiles. Taehyung smiled at them with a small bow, to which they bowed back. He walked to Jeongguk and stood next to him.
"Taehyung," An alpha said. Bogum, a member of the Shadowbora pack. "You look dashing, as usual"
Taehyung smiled. "Thank you. So do you"
Bogum chuckled. "My honour"
"I suppose you have all met Jeongguk already. He's a friend from my university" Taehyung said, gesturing to Jeongguk.
"Yes!" Another alpha said. Minho. "We were intrigued by this picture and we learned that he donated it to the exhibition"
Taehyung nodded, looking at Jeongguk. "It's beautiful. I was mesmerized the first time I saw it"
"He was telling us about it" Minho said.
"I was just telling them that my father wanted to donate this and this is the first time we had donated a picture for this exhibition since my mother's death" Jeongguk explained.
In the past weeks, every time he and Jeongguk met, they had planned on ways to make an impression on Taehyung's parents once again. The goal was to, after all, to convince them that Jeongguk was the better match for Taehyung. Jeongguk had spoken to his father, who had agreed to exhibit this picture for the exhibition, though it held much significance to his pack. Taehyung had arranged a spot at the exhibition and relayed the message to his own parents that Jeongguk would be donating a painting as well.
"Taehyung, did you know he's from the Jeon Pack in Busan?" Bogum said. "It used to be the biggest pack in Busan back in the day before it broke apart"
Taehyung's eyes widened. "Your pack was the biggest pack in Busan?"
"Yeah" Jeongguk whispered.
"You never told me"
"I didn't think it was important since it no longer exists" Jeongguk shrugged.
"But it's huge, Jeongguk" Bogum butted in. "And this picture is majestic. It's a great addition to the exhibition. I have never seen something quite like it" The other alphas also nodded in agreement.
Taehyung's eyes glided to the picture on the wall. The picture, carefully framed, depicted a mesmerizing landscape bathed in golden sunlight, showcasing the majestic beauty of his pack's ancestral grounds. Taehyung knew the photograph held a deeper meaning—one that went beyond its aesthetic appeal. A smile appeared on Taehyung's lips and he took a step closer to Jeongguk.
"Everyone seems to love it" He whispered to Jeongguk. "I wasn't sure if your father would let you donate it"
Jeongguk smiled. "My father agreed. I told him what it was for. Though the pack had long broken, I know that deep down, he misses being in a pack. Being a pack leader and taking care of his pack members"
Taehyung nodded. "Would he be coming?"
"I told him to. Maybe tomorrow?"
"You two can spend some time together"
"You can come too" Jeongguk grinned. "He would love to meet you"
Taehyung smiled. "I would love to meet him again too"
"Do you-" Jeongguk started but he was soon cut off by a different voice.
"Jeongguk, I heard that you donated this picture"
Taehyung and Jeongguk turned around and the moment he saw his parents standing behind them, the omega's heart skipped a beat. Taehyung's mother stood beside his father, her expression a mixture of surprise and intrigue. Her eyes lingered on the photograph, captivated by its beauty and depth. Taehyung's father, though more reserved, studied the image with an intensity that sent a shiver down Taehyung's spine.
Jeongguk's voice was calm and confident as he replied, "Yes, sir. This picture holds immense meaning for me, and I wanted to contribute something significant to the exhibition. It represents the strength and resilience of my pack, showcasing our deep connection with nature and our commitment to preserving our ancestral lands."
Taehyung watched his parents closely, attempting to decipher their reactions. His father's usually stern features softened, a glimmer of admiration shining in his eyes. Taehyung's mother's lips curved into a subtle smile, a silent acknowledgement of Jeongguk's valuable donation.
"But why this particular photograph, Jeongguk?" Taehyung's mother asked, her tone gentle yet curious.
Jeongguk's voice held a hint of emotion as he explained, "This picture is a treasured piece from my pack's history. It depicts a moment of unity and strength during a time of hardship. I believed it was important to share this powerful symbol with all the packs gathered here, as a reminder of the enduring spirit and determination within our packs"
He continued, "It captures the essence of our pack's legacy—the bond we shared, the harmony among our members, and our unwavering dedication to our pack. I felt it was the perfect piece to showcase at this exhibition, where packs from all corners of the country come together"
Taehyung's father nodded, his gaze fixed on Jeongguk. "It indeed is the perfect addition" He chuckled, his tone holding a hint of grudging admiration."It's an impressive piece. The story it tells speaks of a pack's unwavering spirit. I can see why you chose to share it."
Taehyung's mother nodded in agreement, her gaze softening as she glanced at Jeongguk. "Indeed, it's a remarkable contribution, Jeongguk. It reflects not only your pack's rich history but also your understanding of the importance of unity and strength within our community. I can see why you chose to share it"
"Absolutely" Jeongguk smiled.
A surge of relief washed over Taehyung as he observed the subtle shift in his parents' demeanour. Though Jeongguk no longer had a pack of his own, from how he speaks of what had once been his pack, Taehyung knew that Jeongguk had an emotional connection to it. This was another reason why he chose to share this piece today, and not only because Taehyung's parents would love it and they wanted to impress them as a part of their ploy. This picture was much more than that, with its profound symbolism, Taehyung was glad that it had received so much attention and admiration from many people
Jeongguk's eyes met Taehyung's briefly, a silent reassurance passing between them. Despite the challenges they faced, they were determined to prove that their love was worth fighting for and that Jeongguk's abilities and dedication surpassed any preconceived notions about his suitability as Taehyung's partner.
"If my memory serves me right, I remember you saying that you don't have a pack. Which is why I invited you to my own" Minseok said, after a few seconds of staring at the picture.
Taehyung's heart skipped a beat as his father's words hung in the air. The question was loaded, and he could sense the tension building. Jeongguk stood before them, his gaze steady, and Taehyung admired his unwavering composure.
Taking a deep breath, Jeongguk met his father's gaze directly. "You are correct, sir. I don't currently have a pack. My father was once a pack leader, but circumstances led to its dissolution after my mother's passing"
"A pack that was dissolved?" Taehyung's mother thought out loud. "What is the name and city of your pack?"
"It was the Jeon pack of Busan" Jeongguk answered.
"The Jeon Pack?!" Minseok's voice rose in surprise.
"Yes sir"
"Why didn't you tell me before?"
"It had already dissolved and I consider myself a lone wolf now, along with my father"
"Who is your father?"
"Jeon Jihoo"
"The pack leader of the Jeon Pack?"
"Yes" Jeongguk smiled.
Minseok chuckled. "I am speaking with the son of the leader of the Jeon Pack. This is amusing! Do you even know how famous your pack used to be?"
Jeongguk gulped as Taehyung watched, struggling to find the words. "I'm aware that my father fought many battles for the borders. And he expanded the pack grounds. I know that we have a long history"
"Your history isn't only long, Jeongguk. It's a history of warriors. Are you saying that you are supposed to be the next pack leader of the Jeon clan? I can see why you are so strong and capable"
"Thank you" Jeongguk smiled. "I would've been. But since the pack had dissolved, I have chosen to walk the path of a lone wolf"
Taehyung's father, Kim Minseok, watched Jeongguk with a mix of curiosity and scrutiny. "And why is that, Jeongguk? As a true alpha, strong and capable, you have the potential to lead a pack."
Jeongguk's voice held a tinge of melancholy as he spoke. "The loss of my mother deeply affected my father, and it fractured the unity of our pack. After her passing, he decided to disband it, and I respected his choice. I wanted to forge my own path, to find my own place in this world."
Taehyung's heart ached for Jeongguk's painful past, the weight he had carried alone all these years. He yearned to reach out and intertwine his fingers with Jeongguk's, to silently convey his support. However, they were in a dangerous zone.
Minseok's gaze softened, a flicker of understanding crossing his eyes. "I can comprehend the desire for individuality, Jeongguk. But in a pack, unity is strength. You can gather the members of your pack and assemble it once again. Carry on the legacy of the Jeon Pack"
Jeongguk nodded. "It's a possibility"
"Maybe we can even help you," Minseok said, looking at Taehyung's mother.
Jeongguk looked tongue-tied. "I haven't thought so far ahead, Alpha Minseok. But I'm grateful for your kindness"
"I have invited you to join our pack. The invitation still stands. You can either rebuild your pack or join ours. You keep proving what a great alpha you are, Jeongguk"
"Thank you, sir"
"If only had I known you were the son of Jeon Jihoon..." Minseok trailed off.
Jeongguk smiled.
"The picture you donated is one of my favourites out of all the ones here. I have a love for artistry, you see" Taehyung's mother said, stepping close to Jeongguk.
"Oh, Jeongguk's an artist too!" Taehyung butted in. "He has a lot of knowledge about art"
"Really?" Taehyung's mother smiled. "Would you mind explaining to me about this picture? I'm mesmerized by it"
"Of course, madam" Jeongguk smiled.
Taehyung grinned, feeling giddy. He saw his father starting to speak with Bogum and the few alphas around them dispersed. Leaving Jeongguk and his mother. Taehyung walked to the next room, glancing at the other portraits. He caught a glimpse of Seojoon in another room as he walked, standing with his parents and his sister. His sister caught Taehyung's eyes and she waved, to which Taehyung waved back. Fortunately, she didn't tell Seojoon about Taehyung. The omega continued to walk through the bustling hallways and they only got crowded as time went on.
When he headed back to the room he had left Jeongguk in, with a glass of champagne in his hand, Jeongguk was nowhere to be found. However, he saw his mother speaking with some women. Deciding to go look for Jeongguk, he walked from one room of the exhibition to another, through the alphas, betas, omegas and pups. He got caught in conversation a few times with people he knew. He was talking with a female omega from another pack when he heard a commotion.
Taehyung immediately started walking towards the source of the sound and in the middle of the lobby, was a crowd. In the midst of the crowd, two packs were engaged in a heated argument: The Lunabay Pack and the Silverbora Pack, Taehyung recognized the two leaders who were arguing.
"The fence was broken!" One alpha shouted.
"It was not broken. That is our area"
"The fence was clearly broken. I can show you proof. And your members started growing vegetables in our grounds–" the argument went on.
It was a heated argument over territorial boundaries, one that was common between smaller packs. However, this was an exhibition to celebrate the unity of all the packs of the country. Why would they start such a fight in the middle of such an important and formal event? Taehyung feared that it might escalate and mar the event that not only he but also many other packs had worked hard organizing.
The dispute had quickly escalated, and now, it threatened to become a full-blown confrontation. Taehyung saw his parents immediately rushing towards the commotion, trying to stop the argument. However, as the argument escalated, the pack leaders and their respective pack members looked like they were about to throw hands, in the middle of the lobby. People around them gasped as profanities exchanged between the pack leaders and Taehyung could only frown as he watched helplessly.
His father tried to mediate between the two packs, but his stern expression indicated that he was deeply concerned about the potential implications of this dispute. Taehyung looked around to see Jeongguk standing a few feet away from him, entirely concentrated on the dispute. However, seconds later, Taehyung's eyes met Jeongguk's. He saw a surge of determination cross Jeongguk's eyes. Tadehyung's heart skipped a beat because he knew that Jeongguk was up to something. He nodded at Taehyung across the crowd and the omega knew what he was going to do.
With a calm yet commanding presence, Jeongguk stepped forward, standing between the two groups, signalling for them to lower their voices and take a step back. "Everyone, please, let's take a moment to breathe and listen to each other," Jeongguk said, his voice carrying authority and assurance.
His words seemed to have an immediate effect as the tension in the air lessened, and the alphas from both packs turned their attention to Jeongguk, curious about the newcomer who dared to intervene.
"Please listen to me" Jeongguk's voice carried a sense of authority.
"Fuck off, kid" The leader of the Lunabay pack growled, trying to push Jeongguk away and bare his canines at the other leader.
"Alpha" Jeongguk growled back, making the pack leader's eyes widen. He took a step back and Taehyung felt the thick pheromones that were floating in the air. Jeongguk was releasing pheromones that were making the surrounding omegas cower and Taehyung too felt the effect of them. The pack leader of the Lunabay pack, who was not a true alpha, too was feeling the effect of Jeongguk's pheromones and he straightened up, ready to listen to Jeongguk.
Jeongguk took a deep breath, glancing at both pack leaders. "I understand that there are concerns and disagreements, but we are all here as representatives of our packs, and we should find a peaceful resolution," Jeongguk started, making sure to maintain eye contact with both alphas.
He approached the alpha from Silverbora Pack, who appeared to be the most agitated. "I hear your concerns about the territory boundaries, and I assure you that we can find a compromise that benefits both packs. We don't need to resort to violence."
The alpha seemed taken aback by Jeongguk's calm demeanour and willingness to address their grievances directly. As Jeongguk listened attentively to his concerns, he offered thoughtful suggestions and proposed a collaborative approach to redefine the boundaries, ensuring both packs had access to valuable resources.
Meanwhile, Taehyung, observing Jeongguk's leadership skills in action, admired the way he navigated the conflict with tact and empathy. He could see that Jeongguk's dedication to finding a peaceful solution resonated with the alphas, even those from the opposing pack. With time and patience, Jeongguk managed to facilitate an agreement that satisfied both packs. They shook hands, sealing the newfound understanding and collaboration, and the conflict that had threatened to disrupt the exhibition was averted.
Afterwards, as the alphas from both packs departed, Jeongguk's shoulders relaxed, and he let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. The surrounding crowd also thinned, with many looking at Jeongguk with smiles of admiration. Taehyung approached him, a soft smile on his face, and he couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride for his alpha.
"You were amazing, Jeongguk," Taehyung said, admiration evident in his eyes. "You handled that with such grace and wisdom. It was unbelievable. I'm so proud of you."
Jeongguk smiled back. "Thank you," he replied. "I was scared, though"
"Why?"
"That someone would punch me across the face and I would get a scar on my perfect face"
Taehyung giggled. "And I would still love you the same"
Jeongguk's eyes widened. "W-what?"
"Oh" Taehyung gulped. "I...I mean–" He gulped. Shit, it just kind o f came out.
"Say that again" Jeongguk whispered, taking a step towards Taehyung with a grin.
"N-No!"
"Omega!" Jeongguk whisper-shouted.
"You heard it the first time!"
"I have hearing difficulties. I must hear it again, Taehyung"
"No!" Taehyung was about to turn away and run when Jeongguk took hold of his hand.
Taehyung gasped, but a grin was etched on his face. However, as his eyes glided to the figures that approached them, his smile dropped and he jerked his hand away from Jeongguk. Jeongguk, taking the sign, turned around to face Taehyung's parents as they approached.
But then, Minseok spoke, his tone surprisingly soft yet stern. "You handled that conflict remarkably, Jeongguk," he said, his eyes holding a glimmer of grudging respect. "Your diplomatic skills and composure were impressive. I can see why my son admires you"
Jeongguk grinned. "Thank you, sir"
Minseok continued, "What you achieved today goes beyond words. You not only resolved a conflict that seemed insurmountable but also paved the way for a future of harmony and collaboration."
Taehyung's mother joined in, her eyes shining with admiration. "Yes, Jeongguk. You've brought about a remarkable transformation. Your leadership skills are exceptional, and your vision for unity has left an indelible mark. I can see your resemblance with your father. Just like him, you too have great leadership skills"
Taehyung couldn't help but observe the genuine appreciation in his parents' words. It was a delicate moment, one where he hoped that they wouldn't detect the depth of his feelings for Jeongguk, as it would only complicate their already precarious situation.
"Thank you, Mr and Mrs Kim," Jeongguk responded graciously, his voice laced with humbleness. "I'm honoured to have been given the opportunity to contribute to the harmony between the packs. It was a collective effort, and I'm grateful for the trust and support you placed in me."
Taehyung's father placed a hand on Jeongguk's shoulder, his voice tinged with a hint of pride. "I've always known you were a remarkable individual, Jeongguk. Your actions today have only solidified that belief. Your pack would be fortunate to have someone like you leading them."
Jeongguk smiled.
"You know, I saw that you were capable of great things. I'm not an old man speaking to you of the impossible. You truly can rebuild your pack and be one of its greatest leaders"
"I know, sir. It feels like a massive effort and I'm not sure if my father would like it. Because, after all, this happened because of my mother's passing"
Minseok nodded. "Yes, I understand"
"Your father is a great alpha. I'm moved to see someone so committed to their wife as him. Such love is rare, you know?"
"I know" Jeongguk smiled. "I want to be like him too"
"I think you are already like him. You cherish the people around you. You protect them" Taehyung smiled.
"Yeah my friends are my family" Jeongguk smiled at Taehyung and looked at Minseok and his wife. "You have to protect your people"
Minseok chuckled. "That's true. There you have it, another great quality of a true leader"
The four of them chuckled heartily.
"You really were born to be a great leader, Jeongguk. I feel like it would be a waste if you don't make use of your talents" Taehyung's mother said.
Jeongguk nodded. "Now that you two had given me so much praise or motivation, I feel like I could actually do it"
"Of course, you can. I swear it" Minseok said.
Jeongguk smiled. "Thank you for your trust in me"
"I understand that your father might not be in favour of rebuilding your pack. It was dissolved for a reason, after all. So if you aren't going to rebuild your pack anytime soon, you can join my pack, as I told you before. With your capabilities and the dedication you've shown tonight, you could contribute greatly to our community."
Jeongguk smiled. "I'm ever so honoured by your invitation, sir. But I suppose you remember my response to your invitation from earlier. My stance hasn't changed"
Minseok nodded, turning his head towards his wife. "He's dedicated to his studies. He said that he would consider my invitation after he has graduated"
"Just like Taehyung" Taehyung's mother shook her head with a smile. "Children these days are so dedicated to their education"
"Well, we must have academic qualifications to build ourselves a name in the society" Jeongguk said.
"That wouldn't be a necessity if you belonged to a pack, son. I was ready to give you a position right beside me"
Jeongguk's eyes widened. "S-sir I'm extremely honoured. But I don't understand why you would think me as suitable for holding such an important position"
"Well, for one, you're a true alpha," Minseok said, "And you've proven yourself to be a strong, determined young man. A true leader. You have a bright future, whatever path you may choose"
Jeongguk nodded. "You have so much faith in me. Thank you"
As Taehyung listened to their conversation, his heart swirled with conflicting emotions. On one hand, he was relieved that Jeongguk's actions were being acknowledged and appreciated. On the other hand, the secrecy of their relationship weighed heavily on him, like a burden he longed to shed.
His parents continued to express their gratitude, praising Jeongguk's commitment, wisdom, and genuine desire to bring about positive change. Taehyung admired their ability to see Jeongguk's worth and potential, even if they were unaware of the true extent of their connection. Deep down, Taehyung yearned for the day when he could openly express his love for Jeongguk, without the fear of repercussions. But for now, they had to remain hidden, finding solace in stolen moments and shared glances.
As the conversation with Taehyung's parents came to a close, Taehyung exchanged a knowing look with Jeongguk, their eyes speaking volumes of unspoken promises and unwavering devotion. They would continue to navigate the complexities of their forbidden love, cherishing the moments they could steal and finding strength in the hope that one day, their love would no longer be hidden in the shadows.
As the exhibition came to an end, Jeongguk and Taehyung found themselves walking towards the woods behind the exhibition halls. The sun was setting in the distant sky and shadows cast over the couple as they walked. Once they were a safe amount away from the hall and no one was in sight, they stopped walking, smiling at each other.
Taehyung smiled at Jeongguk as the omega leaned against a tree. The alpha reflected his expression and pressed against the omega.
"Today went great" Taehyung whispered. "Just as we planned. In fact, better than we planned"
"Yeah. But I was nervous when I stepped into that fight" Jeongguk muttered.
"I know. You were brilliant and I have never been more proud of you"
"I couldn't have done it without your support. You give me strength"
Taehyung pressed a kiss against Jeongguk's lips. "And I, you"
"Were you able to meet Seojoon's parents?"
Taehyung shook his head. "No. I saw them a couple of times but I felt nervous to carry out our plan regarding them"
"I'm nervous about it too" Jeongguk's eyebrows furrowed together. "It's not okay to tell them you're infertile"
"My sister said that it would work" Taehyung smiled. "What they want from me is pups for Seojoon. A future leader. They want the pup to be purebred, which is why they want me to be a virgin. So the only ways we can make them break their marriage is either by showing them that I'm impure. That I'm not a virgin. Or by signalling them that I'm infertile or that I have low chances of getting pregnant"
"And if you show them that you aren't a virgin, it would be a black mark on your reputation" Jeongguk whispered.
"Yeah I would be disowned" Taehyung smiled.
"But what if I just convince your parents that I'm a better suitor for you? It's already halfway done. So you wouldn't have to go through a lot of uncomfortable situations"
"It's best if they break off the marriage. Not the omega's side. Because we are the promisee and they are the promisor"
Jeongguk nodded. "Your sister's plan is great but I just don't like that you're going to have to face some discomfort"
"You don't love speaking to my parents and proving yourself to them either. I know it's uncomfortable for you too. So it's only a reciprocating what you go through for this relationship to work"
Jeongguk sighed. "But if I could, I would take all the burden"
"That's not fair, Jeongguk. This is a two-way road"
"Nothing is fair in love and war"
Taehyung Jeongguk. "Are we in war?"
"We are in love, amidst war" Jeongguk grinned.
Taehyung giggled. "I love you"
Jeongguk's grin widens if possible. His doe eyes twinkled in happiness. "I love you too"
"Jeongguk" Taehyung whispered, his heart thrumming with happiness in his ribcage. His stomach leapt with butterflies and his wolf purred in content. "My alpha"
Jeongguk kissed Taehyung, their lips moving perfectly in sync. The omega opened his mouth, inviting Jeongguk's tongue into his mouth and a moan escaped him as the alpha licked his tongue and the inside of his mouth. Taehyung wrapped his arms around Jeongguk's neck and the other man's grip tightened on the omega's waist as he pressed himself tighter against Taehyung.
The kiss broke as they ran out of breath but Jeongguk was quick to attach his lips to Taehyung's scent gland. Taehyung moaned, eyes shutting close as the alpha licked his scent gland. Jeongguk inhaled sharply as he released pheromones on his own that made Taehyung want to melt. The alpha's whole body was pressed against Taehyung and he could feel Jeongguk's bulge against his thigh–
"J-Jeonggukk" Taehyung whimpered. "Not here"
The omega could feel himself slick up and he knew it only made things worse. However, Jeongguk didn't stop at Taehyung's plea. He kept scenting Taehyyung, licking his scent gland and making the omega's eyes roll back in pleasure. The pheromones were thick with arousal among them and as Taehyung inhaled, he felt light-headed with arousal. However, shifting back to earth, he tried once again:
"Alpha, please" He whispered weakly. "Someone could walk in on us"
Jeongguk grunted as if lost in a trance.
"Jeongguk, we must stop," Taehyung said once again. "Jeongguk!"
Only then did Jeongguk break away, taking a step back from Taehyung. He placed his hands on his knees and panted.
"Alpha" Taehyung whispered, taking a step towards Jeongguk despite feeling lightheaded from arousal. "Are you okay?"
Jeongguk straightened up. He nodded. "Yeah," He whispered as his chest rose and fell with heavy breaths. "I'm sorry. I don't know what I was thinking"
"That's okay" Taehyung smiled. "I can come to your dorm room if you'd like. We just can't do it here"
"I know, I know. I'm sorry. I lost control.
"I understand" Taehyung whispered, walking towards Jeongguk. However, as he reached the alpha, his eyebrows furrowed. "Jeongguk, are you okay? You look pale"
Jeongguk nodded. He let out a deep breath. "I am. But I think I should head back to my dorm"
"Oh"
"Your parents might be looking for you"
"I can come back with you to your dorm" Taehyung said.
Jeongguk smiled. "I know, pup. But it's best if I head back. They might get suspicious if you left with me"
"Yeah that's true" Taehyung nodded. "Are you feeling alright, though? I sense something wrong" Jeongguk's aroused pheromones had turned to normal but there was a hint of distress in them.
"Don't worry about it. Let's head back. Let me drop you off at the exhibition hall"
"Okay" Taehyung nodded and the two of them walked back to the exhibition halls. Jeongguk left Taehyung at the entrance as he bid him goodbye and made his way to the parking lot for his bike.
"Text me!" Taehyung called after him.
Jeongguk waved at him with a smile, the paleness still visible on his face. "I will!"
Despite the doubts tugging at his heart, Taehyung watched his mate disappear into the parking lot. With a sigh, he walked into the exhibition hall, in search of his parents to go back home, but with hopes of meeting Jeongguk at university the following week.
